HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Man online play was something i was REALLY lookin' forward too. Thought i am extremely disappointed, i just hope that in 2005 PD GETS THIS **** RIGHT. We better have voice while in game atleast.

Man.......I can't believe this. This has ruined my night. I am really bummed. I mean i know the 1st player aspect of it is gonna be awesome and tons of fun, but i'm sorry this is 2004, online game is not what you would call an extra feature anymore, it has become standard, a neccesisity.

Oh well, i still have Forza Motorsports for my online enjoyment.

Like i've said b4. And this right here confirms it.

Forza>GT - Online

GT>Forza - Offline

Just a predicition.

Sorry but all i can do is laugh...... Some of you guys crack me up...... You were trippin over the fact that online play/racing/trading was in, now that it's cancelled, you suddenly don't care about it anymore..... Weird....

I didn't care about online play from the start. If that's what's holding GT4 up, then I really don't like online play. I see what you mean though. Many have all of a sudden changed sides.

I read all the posts over, and i'm trying to figure out how you came to this conclusion, with the exception of one dumbass, no one has given up hope in GT4. I see a bunch of bummed ppl, but i don't see ppl who don't care about GT4.

The important fact is that if KY had decided to stick with GT4 with online play and to hell with the deadline, we could be here until god knows when with no GT4 at all, and that would REALLY suck... this way, we will be playing GT4 soon, and still have more to look forward to...

Despite the fact that alot of the delays might be attributable to accommodating online play, we should also remember that this extra time has allowed PD to improve just about every other aspect of the game, not to mention add hundreds of new cars too... don't worry, GT4 will still be the drive of your life...

BTW, this "B-Spec" thing looks allot like Forza's Drivatar.... hmm.....

It does? Well I guess they both stole it from Sony Europe's Rapid Racers with its learning AI, and automatic track generator. :trouble:

Go ahead and try to find a post I made that said I love the idea of online play for GT4. You wont. And read what I said over 6 months ago about it...

...i don´t think that GT4 WON`T be online!!!
...it´s just tooooo UNLOGICAL!!!
....why should PD work so long on this game????
....PD isn´t working ONLY on this game perhaps?--->yes!
...PD is rather working on this complex and difficult online mode i can tell ya!!!

...so don´t believe EVERYTHING u read in this big,big world ok?....

Kazunori Yamauchi
...which is that Gran Turismo 4 will not be shipping with any online functionality. Yamauchi cited "challenges" with the European and Japanese online infrastructures as the reason behind the decision--challenges that would presumably have taken until well after the game's targeted December release date to overcome. Polyphony now plans to release an online version of the game (or at least a very similar game) sometime next year.
You God damn Europeans! It's your fault, I knew it was you all along!

;)

I've always said online play would be nice but it's not gonna stop me from playing the game.

OLR's are almost as good as true online races and in some cases better, as you can do them in your own time and not all have to get 6 friends organised at one specific time for a few races...

The game will fulfill all my needs without online play... I only wanted online play if it was done perfectly.

Sony servers that SCEE would manage and all broadband connections, yeah right Kaz... you lazy *******. :grumpy: Instead of driving the 800laps on the RING he should have been working to get the features said at e32003 in the final game to meet the release schedule. :grumpy:

they just turned a game with LOTS of potential into potentially crap, i for one see NO incentiva at all in playing single player wasting countless hours just to beat the ****ings tupid AI, i was going to buy this as soon as it came out along with one of those new PS2's. but now... not, now it will be a rental for me, good job PD.

I did not need online mode in GT1, I did not need it in GT2, and I still didn't need it in GT3.

I don't need it in GT4 either.

I am here to drive some very beautiful cars around some equally beautiful tracks. The skill of the AI or even of other human players matters not, I can drive without them at all (as I'm sure most do anyway). I am here to drive. Getting 100% in the game by beating the AI up is just for novelty factor. You can have complete fun with this game without ever taking on Sim Mode. Anything else beyond the fact that I am able to race is just icing on the cake, and we already know from the GT formula that the cake is indeed good.

Beyond that, this new game coming in 2005 could very well be an addon to GT4. GT4 may keep the rudamentary coding for online game play, and the upcoming game could be used to implement it, thus allowing online mode for GT4. This means that online play will get more development time and be PERFECTED.

Unless you guys want a lot of 98.6% glitches again...

jesus, i just can't belive they went ahead and do something so stupid like this, so PD didn't want the "jumpy" network races.. because it would take away from the "perfect GT experience", well they could just add a HUGE fu-cking warning before each race that warns of this "danger" and could've added a "perfect no lag" ghost mode race (all players race but in a time attack mode, you can see all players, but not hit them, and the replay would be lag free).
i mean.. who the hell cares if they got nurburgring if you can't show how good you are to other people? who CARES about 600 cars if you can't pit them against anything other than the AI? REALLY!. if this was 1990 i'd understand a game with out network support, looks like forza will end up being the game i'll invest time in, there's just no reward in playing for countless hours if you gain nothing back from it, i hope they at least had the decency to leave LAN on the god damn thing, i just hope forza gets a wheel adapter of some sort so people don't have to buy yet another wheel.
i can't, for the life of me understand PD, they could've just added a second disc in THAT package with a huge warning with it (DONT PLAY THIS IF YOU LIKE PERFECT GT EXPERIENCE!) or some dumb thing like that, god i'm SOO dissapointed with this.

Who cared how fast you were on any track in GT1? Oh, wait, we all did....

DRIFT4EVA
You know this will add extra space. What will they (If they do) use it for?

More Skylines, Evos, Imprezas, Legacys...

More crappy 'City' tracks...

More usless 'photo-mode' venues...

and NOS!

My anticipation for GT4 has just gone down substantially.... has there been any good GT4 news come from TGS yet?

some of you guys need to build a bridge and get over it.... honestly. do really need online play? i dont, id rather just play the game. im sure with the network adapter you can have "lan parties" with gt4. and as has been stated before they should be releasing another version with online support later next year.
