Ok. Gt5 gets a new update and hopefully a new dlc. But, the x2011 was added last year in August, this leads me to think about the red bull x2012. And then the question. Why? It's already too fast and making it faster is idiotic. So I ask you gtp. Why?

I don't think it would be as idiotic as awfully repetitive. The car is sleek and fun. Surly I don't think it would change too much in both design & performance but it's sleek and fun. Honestly I'd like to see a 2012 model. I think some of the community would agree.

Why make a thread for a car that isn't even rumored to exist?

Perhaps GT should be The Real Speculation Simulator.

Isn't the X2011 a prototype model? It would make sense if the X2012 (if it comes) is just a painted X2011.

But to answer the question at hand, marketing.

Maybe they're releasing a flight sim soon...

F-35 anyone?? :P

Edit; Gran Turismo; The Real Speculation Simulator  that was good 👍

Hey guys, last night I had a very vivid dream. I was driving one of my old cars and it clearly was a car but next thing I knew I was on a push-bike. Wow, I wonder if this will be in the next update because prior to going to bed I was on GT5 so it must be an omen. So I ask you, GTP; Why?

August last year? Wasn't it like November???

3rd week in October actually as it came in DLC Car Pack 1.

Got confused. :-|
Anyhow. I'm asking do we need/want another x car. Now be quiet with the "jokes".

Edit: I remember what got me thinking. Renderings. Stupid renderings •~•

Yes we need more X1s. We need the X2011s like this...

I was answering the question: When did the X2011 come out.

So you made a thread asking what the point of a car is that exists only in your head?

That made me laugh, I think the op took speculation to a whole other level.

I personally don't see the point of bringing another X20-- car into the game. We've already got two of them (2010 and 2011) and we don't need both.

I'm just curious of the fact that they made a prototype of a car that doesn't, and will not exist? Wouldn't the X2010 be a prototype also? Neither exist.

The prototype is the unpainted carbon fiber version in both the 2010(see #22 in chart posted above) and 2011.

The point in continuing the X cars would be present if the physics engine was good enough to model the differences and RB was interesting in its continuing development.

I don't think that the former is true, and I'm unsure of the latter.

PD could develop the cars on their own, but I don't think that they would have enough engineering resources to develop the car as realistically as Red Bull has.

All jokes are invalid, sos the thread. Thanks guys.

Anyway. The renderings my friend produced show less drag on a wing, wider tyres, redone speed of the fan(apparently reversed direction under braking), air brake and revised electronics and a new turbo. Twin turbo v6, with 1700hp@3000rpm and a hybrid system which adds 100kg.

FYI. Render=drawing.

Before... the X2011 was the fastest car of the game.
Now... the X2011 and the X2012 are the fastest cars in the game.

Whatever the case might be, some people seem to adore the X series.

Without meaning to offend your friend, I think Adrian Newey knows what he's doing more than him.

No more x cars would be interesting if they updated the look and performance of the fgt and made it into a new model.

+1. Maybe if they had a new FGT with aero kits that have different attributes(less drag less downforce and vice versa) with multiple liveries that you can change the color of the base of it. Would certainly add flair to the game.

Again, PD can make any arbitrary changes, but the whole point in having the X1 in game is that it's realistic. I don't think there are very large gains to be found on the car at this point.

A lower drag wing how? By increasing the span to full car width, they've taken the aspect ratio as far as it can really go. Wider tires creates more drag, rolling resistance, and weight. They could add an air brake, though there is the matter of where would they put it, and how much does it weigh. Setting the fan in reverse to assist braking is nonsensical, it's like making the engine spin in reverse to back the car up.

Whats more is spinning the fan in reverse will create lift not downforce.
