What speed are you getting?

That's the problem with used cars.

Err OCD at the moment are 0.0.0 so how does that affect its performance.

Didn't know that. I thought it was second hand stuff.

I'm getting 198.6 mph I thought it did 220 hence the name it is all stock apart from oil change

How fast is a Renault 5?

Wikipedia says:
It held the record for the highest top speed of a production car (350 km/h, 217 mph) (although it was modified from standard to achieve this)

Which would answer your question.

Hi

McLaren F1 can't reach it's real life top speed either of 241mph.

Can't remember what it reached but it was even further out. It was run it too.

The F1's "real life top speed" was 231mph. The car that ran the 243mph run on Nardo Ring was one of the prototypes - the XP5 - with the rev limiter removed. In fact the McLaren probably has enough power to continue acceleration in a seventh gear, beyond that.

+1

I think limiting factors like tires prevented a greater top speed.

Both the Mclaren and XJ220 get no where near their claimed top speed unless modifying.

Not back then anyway. With today's technologies, higher speed is possible, hence the Veyron. And cars are not going any slower.....

+1 sir, plus 1

I'm constantly entertained with your train of thought, very similar to my own.

My 'ol pappy, before he left this 🤬 world used to say, "F 'em if they can't take a joke or a punch"

Thank you Mr Mcnugget. Take care mate.

At least he didn't mention the Dome Zero.

Wonder if any cars fluke the numbers top speed... Pug 205 ... in Napolean's (KMpH) maybe?

Jaguar naming convention of old did use numbers to indicate top speed starting with the XK 120, then came the "C" Type, the competition version based off of that chassis. Followed by the XK 140 and the D Type another competition machine and the XK 150. They broke with that theme with the production E Type. The XJ-220 was supposed to hit 220mph with a 6.2 ltr V-12 and AWD system. The limited production car was fitted with a 3.5 ltr, twin turbo unit from the then current group c cars and two wheel drive. It never got close to 220, but as stated above, a modified car did hit 217.

It needs a special setting or something.
Most car makers test the top speed in perfect conditions so you will never really get to their top speed.

Its funny to me, if you can picture a bunch of old, RICH white guys, complaining that the car they pre-ordered couldnt reach the advertised 220mph top speed, when, near none of them would ever take the car anywhere near that limit

If i remember correctly, the XJ220 Concept shown was a V12 AWD beast. As correctly stated it ended up with a v6 (from the Metro 6R4 of all things!!) When the original top speed run was done, it reached about 210mph with martin Brundel at the wheel (i think) they then took of the cats from the back to try for the 220 and reached 217. they were able to say it did 217 because the car would still pass an MOT without the cats.

I remember this from CAR magazine as it was my bible as a young car nut!! I still remembeer the silver xj220 on the front cover, side view looking like something from space with the heading 217 MPH I even remember the top speed test car was green!

If I remember correctly it was and is illegal here in the states, at least as far as licensing it for the street. You can own one under some kind of "show car" arrangement or something like that. She is beautiful and a wicked beast with that V-12!
