So the Italians are angry because Polyphony Digital didn't ask for permission to re-create the flags?!?

So why doesn't Kaz just ask for permission? Wouldn't that solve everything? :dunce:

It's not "the Italians", it's "some kind of Italians" :)
I'm Italian and I didn't see a problem with these flags without permission :S

I'm sure it's not just a simple permission. These people would probably want royalties for the right to use their flags in the game. This could be as lump sum amount or a percentage of total revenue generated from GT5. Now of course, this is only my speculation, but if it was so simple, the organization wouldn't have announced right away that they plan to sue PD and would've solved this under the radar.

Wow it sounds like they want some $$$ for being in the game. I would think that it would be flattering to be included in one of the most popular games in the world. But not everyone sees it that way. They should put up a flag from every country except Italy

If they want money they are stupid. Plain and simple. (the PR would be worth a lot more than what Sony ever would pay them)

And btw, nobody would have ever seen those flags anyway.

ninja edit for the l

Sorry for the double Post. :(

Piazza del Campo, will be a great horse track, I mean it's just as pointless as NASCAR (jk). But seriously, who would want to race in a circle with the best transport; GO KART. Horses would be absolutely amazing, Kaz if you are reading this make it work some how...

Kaz should replace the flags with pictures of him mooning those idiots.
At least thats what I would do :D

“We can remove them in an instant.”

Anybody reckon that this will end up being an update for us to download?

On the one hand, I'm sure Kaz wants to replicate environments as accurately as possible, including any flags hanging from buildings. On the other, does he really want to associate himself with a group that supports brutal horse racing? I dunno...I just think that for the purposes of keeping the peace, changing the flags to something that works with the theme is not such a big deal. From a selfish perspective, I want that track because of the karting fun it will offer, and really don't care if the flags and a few other assets are not exactly like the real location.

It'll be interesting to see how this one pans out that's for sure.

Unfortunately for you, calling people big babies is hardly grown up...

i could use a slew of curse words to express their silliness.

Or go on and on about how illogical it is.

or i could keep it simple...they're being big babies...

Or you could stop insulting people with childish name calling and simply explain why you think people are being illogical...

Who cares. It's their loss for not wanting their flags in a racing game that would potentially bring even more interest towards their group.

I know if some game modeled a flag of a group I ran, I'd feel pretty honored that someone cared enough to do so.
+1

Narrow minded people...

Well, luckily I don't give a crap about that track, but that's just me.

He could offer his opinion in explicit detail as to why the flags should or shouldn't remain.

He could write up an entire essay weighing up the positives and negatives of the situation, and who is right or wrong.

But sometimes fewer words are able to speak more than enough, and really, I think big babies sums it up a treat.

On the situation, I completely agree with what McLaren had to say about it

I know if some game modeled a flag of a group I ran, I'd feel pretty honored that someone cared enough to do so.

If they are to replace the flags, more than likely it will be with PD,GT5 or something else along them lines

I imagine that would be the easiest option. Probably just a matter of replacing the image file of the flag.. maybe even as easy as replacing one .png with another.. as the animation of the flag flowing would be seperate

How about this flag, it might just be the worst in the world

haha, someone's after an argument

kaz should just drop the flags, drop the entire location and get the game into the shops

I imagine this "issue" has been solved already, I mean this isn't even a big problem whatsoever.

The conversation about what to do probably went something like this, (PD Staff) "So there's a legal issue with these flags, we may have to take them out"...........(Kaz responds)....."Okay take them out or replace them".

nope this is and stays the worst:

It would be so funny if PD replaced the flag with that one. The track will not be deleted because that could possibly delay the game as that would require them to restructure the career mode and do some additional coding. Replacing the flag texture or removing the flag is the only quick option.
