Yangwang U9 Xtreme Coming to Gran Turismo 7

This would make it the most powerful car in the entire series (even more than the SRT Tomahawk X) and the fastest real-world production car in the game in terms of top speed (previously it was the Bugatti Chiron).
 
So this dosent make sense when are we getting the XIOAMI NOW?, And also would we get some BYDS?

Chinese electric cars that look like you asked ChatGPT to design a car that kinda looks like a McLaren just not as good are THE BEST.
 
This is interesting. Do they want to make breakthrough on chinese market with PlayStation and Gran Turismo by adding chinese cars? Maybe they see it as the only way to grow the GT brand and World Series? But really, I guess I'll try these just once and then never 'touch' them.

Maybe gran turismo sponsored the car because it runs on nurburgring which gran turismo also sponsored, doesn't mean the car will come to the game. But actually I don't mind if the car is actually coming to the game. I love the ultra performance EV cars, might as well bring the rimac nevera, aspark owl, nio ep9, mcmurtry speirling, etc

Gran Turismo doesn't sponsor the Nurburgring. It sponsors the N24, and this car was not taking part in the N24. Additionally, the car was not wearing GT logos during the record attempt (or at least during the promo shoots for the record event).

There is no immediately obvious reason why it should be sporting GT logos at all.

Got to assume that at some point, they'll want to promote the Yangwang Kipperbang U9 Xtreme's inclusion in GT7 within their own marketing bumf and aside from PD's usual marketing/promotional material. Shots of one of the cars at the ring wearing GT7 decals would be useful for that.

That's one of three reasons I came up with for the stickers. It sure would be nice though if AutoHome had provided any kind of source and not just put their name on it (like it also did with a screenshot of the Nurburgring website on mobile, and a BYD press image)...

I usually try to stay quiet about the cars added to GT7, recognising that GT7 caters to many different people, but I just can't imagine what a 2,977HP EV is supposed to do for anyone in the game. The Porsche Mission X is already a horrific nightmare to drive with "just" 1,341HP. It really seems like carmakers nowadays are so obsessed with whether they could that they never stopped to consider if they should.

Engineering Explained has a pretty damning video explaining why the U9 Xtreme with almost 3,000HP couldn't even beat the lap time of a 1,064HP Corvette.

The tl;dw is that the U9 couldn't even do a full lap of the Nordschleife at full power, with the driver even having to lift a little at Döttinger Höhe presumably just to get the car across the line. The Xtreme would drain a full charge at full power in just two minutes! According to EE's calculations, the U9 Xtreme's tyres wouldn't even be able to put down all of the motors' power until about 274km/h (~170mph).

Most modern cars just strike me as silly and stupid, and perhaps no car embodies that like the U9 Xtreme.

The only way I'd ever be interested in the car is if it can do this:

It's going to be fun seeing reactions to future VGTs now that this is better known - whether it comes to GT or not.

I brought it up in the Corvette CX/CX.R thread when people were talking about unrealistic 2000hp electric cars, because actually real 2000hp electric cars that you can go out and buy not only already exist (Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, Lotus Evija, Aspark Owl) but are distant in the rear-view mirror now that there's a 3000hp one.

I doubt that you need it. It doesn't take a degree in mechanical engineering to spot that it weighs 25% more and is trying to put 750hp to each tyre, even notwithstanding the whole energy/fuel store thing.

Considering he lifted (and actually braked about 200ft before the bridge), the U9 was still doing 210mph on Dottinger.

The way I see it is a promoting tool to show what the brand is capable of, sure 3000HP is useless IRL but it shows that they are able to master the technology on batteries, motors and so on to build such an extreme car.

Those techs could also trickle down to more user-friendly cars they will sell (via BYD or else)
