What a Hype for no reason, nearly 3000 HP and barely making it in the Top 20 of Road legal Cars, placing it 2sec's behind the Ford Mustang GTD with 815HP and the Lambo Huracan LP640-4 Performante with 631HP... barely making it in front of the Porsche GT3 RS from 2020.
Not that impressive for 3000 HP, still beeing the record holder for EV's

Agreed. Considering the car has 3000 BHP, you would expect a faster time, EV or not. It's almost as if the "3000 BHP!" is simply a marketing gimmick...

But let's not forget that this brand is 2 years old*, and has basically no racing heritage, unlike Porsche (for example) that has lapped the Nordschleife and raced since forever.

Given that context, it is a little impressive. And that is coming from someone that dislikes EVs. :lol:


*BYD is 22 years old, but only started its global expansion 5 years ago, give or take. It still is a very new automaker.

That "Sports Car Romantic Journey" translation is pretty literal, but it's actually spot-on. "Gran Turismo" is just an Italian term that got adopted into English, and it's what Italian car makers started calling their high-performance cars designed for long-distance comfort and speed. But they named them after the original "Grand Tour," which was the traditional trip that rich, upper-class young guys took back in the 18th and 19th centuries (exactly, the Romantic period). They’d travel all over central Europe and Italy to soak up the culture, see the art, and basically grow up before they had to get serious about life.
 
Cool. Not a fan but definitely an interesting car for some online Nürburgring Lobbies. Would love to see also other newer road cars that are often present at track days. M2, M4 G Series, new Mustang etc.

To be fair, it wasn't until relatively recently that they were making road cars. They've made pretty significant gains in that time to be a decent competitor to Tesla. I mean, their bread and butter are still vehicles such as buses.

Damn yh! I would prefer this to some of the newest SUV additions 😂 Can't wait to beat the sh out of that on the Nordschleife 🤪
Beside of all those known "missing" Cars, i would welcome something like a FIA Euroracing Truck or some Aussie Stadium Truck 😁
 
It's cool to see this come to GT7 but it the battery runs out quickly it won't have much use for me at least

You guys do know that you don't beat seven minutes at the Nordschleife accidentally, right?

Only seven brands have had any car go faster: Mercedes, Porsche, Chevrolet, Lamborghini, Radical, Ford, and Ferrari. It's faster than any Koenigsegg, McLaren, BMW, Viper, GT-R, Maserati, and anything else from anyone else.

Sure, there's a big straight, but that's only worth a few seconds. It still has to be able to stop and turn through the 73 (named) corners before and after that at least as well as the 7:04 Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro in order to make the additional five seconds up.

And, for reference, it did. Even though Moritz Kranz lifted at 350km/h (217mph) and coasted a chunk of it, the AMG GT R Pro was 6:22 from start to gantry, while the U9X was 6:21...

Edit: Yay, maths. Mercedes was 6:44.7 at the bridge, Yangwang at 6:39.3 - about 5.5s difference, with the U9 gaining about 4.5s on Dottinger but also braking before the bridge which the Mercedes didn't need to do. That means that there was almost no time differential in the final complex despite the huge disparity in entry speed in the AMG's favor (braking at the compression began at 290km/h in the AMG, and 270km/h in the U9 after coasting from the Bridge).


Snooze is, of course, a subjective approach, but I don't think anyone's ever accused the AMG GT R Pro of being a trainboat.

Yeah just remember how you can drive an EV in Gran Turismo 7. Pure torque and speed with cero replayability in the game, this thing works better in something like Forza Horizon, NFS or The Crew.

Thinly veiled wishlist aside, there's four cars in the Spec III update in December whose identities we don't yet know and therefore cannot tell if they are Chinese cars coming before the others you reference, or may contain some of the others you reference...

We also don't really know if there's October or November updates but - given the original use of "1.64" to describe Spec III and the recent repeat thereof - it's not likely.

In my opinion, a completely uninteresting addition. A car brand partially funded by the Chinese state isn’t exactly something to get excited about, and it probably explains why it suddenly shows up in GT7. Funny how “partnerships” sometimes seem to matter more than genuine automotive passion😂

The Grand Tour was said to have existed all the way during late-Renaissance and early-Enlightenment (roughly the 17th century), but was refined and at its most glamorous during the Romantic period.

So technically it should've been Sports Car Enlightenment Journey.

But nonetheless, you're right about the Grand Tour reaching its peak during the Romantic period, and that's how the book and TV series "A Cook's Tour" from Anthony Bourdain got its name: from Thomas Cook's tours from the aforementioned period.

Let's not get distracted by the 3,000 hp bright shiny object

This car reached 308 mph. It is probable that with a Cd of around .24, and a frontal area of ≈2.2 m², (then also adding in some overheads) that it was draining the battery at about 1,000 kW ≈ 1,350 hp at its peak velocity.

The “3,000 hp” figure is the combined peak system output (motors and inverters), usually available only for very short durations due to heat issues. I'm guessing that it might have been drawing ≈ 3K horsepower on the way up the speed curve to get there within the very limited track space.

That doesn't in any way detract from the actual achievements.
 
Maybe it has more power than the Tomahawk, but the Xiaomi certainly doesn't have the same power-to-weight ratio. Therefore, the Xiaomi will also have less PP.
I'm curious to see how this rocket-powered concrete block drives.

Yet... hasn't.

We can do hypotheticals all day long - Koenigsegg has been talking about the Jesko doing 300mph for years - but unless and until it has actually achieved it there's nothing to compare.

I'm also interested to see how much of the 16-gallon (Imperial) tank of special E85 fuel would be left after 20.8 miles. Probably enough, but given a combined road economy of 15mpg on pump fuel I'd expect it might not be enough to do a full second lap at speed.


But again, this is about people who think this car is a 3000hp-trick pony and can't stop or turn, while it actually kept pace with an AMG GT R Pro on all the bendy bits from start to gantry. I would expect some gains on the fast bits to Aremberg and around Kesselchen and losses in the slower bits, due to the nature of it, but it's not coming across as a dragster that can't corner or brake.

The Xiaomi (SU7 Ultra) is a 1200hp four-door. It's the Yangwang U9 Xtreme that has 3000ish.
