It's called a scooner. It's what they drink over there. It's smaller than a pint but bigger than a half.

I think.
I think in Sydney (NSW) it's 425 ml... but in Melbourne (or elsewhere in Victoria) I got a 'pot' (or a 'glass') and it was tiny (about 200 ml)... I did manage to find a pub in Sydney (and in Melbourne) that sold pints, but they were always rammed full of British backpackers...

I had a great time in Australia when I was there, and I think I covered the full spectrum of hospitality options - staying with my gf's family, staying friends of my family, staying in hostels, backpackers, campsites, and I even slept rough one night (albeit in Noosa - a posh resort) - and found the vast majority of Aussies to be extremely welcoming people... I did see a few interesting things too, esp. in Liverpool (Sydney), and got punched in the face one night (for refusing to get into a car with a paralytically drunk driver) - that's one sore jaw that was worth it ;)

I must say I found that commercial pretty funny - and the girl at the end is reason enough to go to Australia right now (or is that stalking?) Aaaanyway, it's a bit cheesy, but funny nonetheless... I can't see how too many Aussies would be offended by the term 'bloody hell'... (let's not even mention those adverts for Phuket  )

Guys it's a damn ADD!
It's supposed to tell lies and make things look WAAAYY better then they really are:odd:

Anderton, no offence to you but if you start like that on adds then you sure have another trillion adds to cover:irked:
Every add is like that. But people should automatically take these adds with a grain of salt.

For me personally, I liked the add:) But offcourse:dunce: I'm not stupid, the only thing that makes this add BEAUTIFULL anyways is the very nice camera work.

For restaurant service...
Thats a complete different matter, here in holland for example, people do tip here, but if you come here and go to a restaurant to eat, then expect to sit there for like...2 hours or something. Expect to see other people staying that long.

One thing that is discussed alot about America is Fast Food. Here in Holland, dinner in a restaurant is an event. You should enjoy it. In america's fast food tradition you will probably eat your dinner and get the hell out of there...you dont sit down for 2 hours, chat and talk a bit with relatives and anjoy your meal.
My dad has been to America 3 times now, and he can definatly confirm this with his own stories.

No, I never went to Queensland. And the trip I took was akin to someone backpacking across Europe. Sorry I didn't check up on every little detail before going. My point is that the ad in the link is misleading.
I liked the shots of the plane landing on the Barrier Reef, but when I wanted to snorkel over the Reef (apparently one of the absolute things-to-do-before-you-die activities in the world) I was told not to because the stingers would get me. We had to go waaaay out off the coast to do any snorkelling.

I know this topic is few days old and all but I dont come here often, but I was just wondering, if you never went to Queensland how the heck did you go to the barrier reef?

Wow, how absolutely incredibly racist. How do you feel about this trend? Is it a common attitude shared between Australians, or so-called "mates?" I guess you're a mate as long as you conform and act / dress / speak in the same manner as other Australians.

How do I feel about this trend as an Aussie, its about bloody time someome did something, now I dont see myself as a particularly racist person, there is good and bad in all people but political correctness is just going to far these days. It has come so far that Christmas/Natitivty displays arent PC because they may offend people of other cultures. We allow other cultures to keep their traditions and beliefs all we want is for our beliefs and culture to be respected.
I went to Bali recently, if you go to a temple as a female you have to dress in a way that doesnt offend their culture. If you go to Middle Eastern countries you have to dress and behave in a way that doesnt offend. I remember years ago when I was a kid, we were flying overseas and had a brief stopover in Singapore and my brother had to have his haircut because long hair on a male was offensive to their culture.
I may put my feet on the table and fart at will in my own house but if I go to someone elses place and I know they dont like it, I dont do it. Its all about RESPECT and there is just not enough of it these days.
You go to any country and you should respect their values, their culture, their beliefs and their laws, it doesnt mean you have to abandon your own culture and your own beliefs but if you dont like it then dont live there.

Sorry for my rant, but it hey its my birthday and I'll rant if I want to.

They banned it in the UK now or something.
