Although I haven't seen any naysayers on this thread in awhile, a thought just occurred to me and I wanted to share with the rest of the class. PD is surely aware of this exploit and doesn't care for a fairly obvious reason: Leveling. Obviously if there weren't leveling, you could beat this game in a day just farming for cars and cash to annihilate all the upper tier races. But thanks to the RPG style of gameplay even with all the cars and cash in the game you still have to "grind" through the races and events. And by the time you get to the top tier events, damage will be turned on and the racing will be difficult enough that it won't matter what you've got but how you use it. All farming does is remove the frustration of grinding for cash for cars and tuning that is just outrageously overpriced. If I couldn't do this I think I would shelve this game until my kids graduate college and I retire because that's the only way I would have enough time to waste grinding for cash. That's my theory anyway because I'm still only level 10 but I think it's sound.
Can't sell most of the high dollar cars. But Im not doing it so I can sell them for credits. With the way you have to grind just to level up, this will just give me more cars to do it in, and it wont be quite as boring.
I wouldn't bother doing this if the gift cars you got for winning races were worth a ****, and they had more events to pick from. But unfortunately that's not the case, and Im not running the same few races over and over again in the same cars just to progress in the game. Im at lvl 22 now and things just started moving really slow. So atleast now I'll have more of a variety of cars to grind with. I paid $60 for the game, and I'd rather not become bored of it just yet.
I am 1967 and got the P4. Happy Birthday to me!! No idea what PD things of the "farming" for cars but I also have Forza and I guarentee Turn10 would shut this down and ban/disable people who took advantage of it. Sony and PD seem to be a little more relaxed on stuff like this. Thoughts?

WTF, just tried this and i got the Mark IV, but when im trying to send the car, the game wont find my real account from friend list! Can somebody help me!
My concern is that they can look at your data and see that you have like 15 "birthday cars" in your main save. If turn10 can do that I am sure PD can. Although it would be legit to have more than one birthday car since you could really get one as a gift from a friend/family member. I have no problem with this, just throwing it out there as a precaution.
I think this is pretty pointless. I understand the reasoning that you want the car, but how is this different than outright cheating? Some people may not be able to get a birthday car because people are farming by creating bogus accounts and PD will likely shut it down.
Just watched a youtube showing the process in real-time. It seems to be ever so slightly more tedious than grinding gameplay, so I'll spend my time doing the races instead... until I get ****ed off with having to do the same races over and over... but then they have probably patched it :-)

this happened to me too. I had to go into community, select my other account on my friends list and then click gifts and send it that way the first time. After that it was available from the garage by clicking on gift. Hope that helps.
I don't think they'll shut it down, per say. But I do think Sony will start requiring valid email addresses for account creation which will make the process much more difficult. No matter what they will have to start verifying email addys on existing accounts and delete the invalid ones eventually to recover server space. Honestly it is our job as consumers to exploit holes like this to remind corporations and developers that releasing unfinished products to a rabid gaming community simply to make your bottom line look better can have potentially disastrous results.

I wouldn't worry about Sony running out of server space, Sony has enough space for 1000 earth's x's a 1, 000, 000 fake accounts. So far for me 92 is a good year for cars, plus you can sell the F40 for 135,000 cr. I wouldn't want to be born in 91. The chances for you getting a 787B is almost nil, lol.

We are talking about the same developers/company that couldn't be bothered to put a fast forward/rewind button on replays. i doubt they will put forth the effort to do anything on this exploit beyond patching it to prevent it in the future... if even that.
