Your thoughts about "standard" vs. "premium"

What I'm trying to say is that they can't decide what cars should be premium from how fast they are. All kinds of cars must be represented.

Seriously I wouldn't mind if the fuse boxes and batteries weren't fully detailed, or if the leather stitching wasn't the right weave if it ment cockpits in more/all cars

The Prius is not "cool", but having another Hybrid car beside the Honda CR-V (or however it's called) makes sense and I'm glad we also get some of these not-so-sexy cars.

And I am glad that Kazunori Yamauchi thinks different than you.
By the way, it's possible that Toyota wanted that the Prius will be Premium, some manufacturers make rules like that for licenses.

Seeing where your leading with this but:

BMW's, VW's(specifically GTi's), Audi's, Ford's, certain Vauxhall's, Porsche's, Ferrari's, Aston's, Jag's, Any Le Mans Series racer, Lotus'es, Koningsegesesgeses, etc..etc...

I have a wide variety of tastes in cars,

I'm not saying I dont want the Prius in the game, but there has to be a more wanted/sought after car that will be a standard instead of premium,

On that topic, Weve yet to see a Veyron, could it be a standard, like the countach(or as the GT site leads me to believe)

That's what I'm worried about... we don't know what cars are premium and what are standard.

Right now, I'll admit, I'm pretty disappointed to hear that the Prius and Fiat are premium... especially if there are TWO Fiats.

But, I'm sure I'm going to be more disappointed when I get the game, which I will, and see cars that I hate as premium and those I love as standard.

Like, for instance, the Corvette C5R. I LOVE that car and would love to see it's cockpit and drive it, but was that left out to make room for the Prius?

They're cars from GT4 made with the PS2 engine, but updated with new reflections.

Erm... they made the cars with modeling software. There is no PS2 or PS3 "engine", unless you're talking about GT3 / GT4 / GT4 and GT5 / GT5, respectively.

Yes, there are complete packages out there (like the Unreal engine) that include the codebase framework (the engine) and the developmental tools together, in pseudo-synergy. CryEngine 2 is another one; CryEngine 3 even more so. Perhaps id Tech 5 (RAGE) is the most advanced of the overlapping ideas - yet the engine and development tools are still separate - id Studio being the tools suite that "hooks" into the engine's facilities to allow for "real time content production".

The "standard" and "premium" cars were made for GT4 and GT5 running on the PS2 and PS3 respectively. All this means is the "budget" for the assets (like textures, meshes etc.) is different and the extra features (like detachable bits and bobs, replaceable sub-meshes etc.) are different, because the (hardware & software) environment they are to be used in supports these things, or not.

it's right that 500 and prius are premium cars... premium must balance all the types of cars ( from crappy to f1) not just the cool and fast ones. For example i prefer the 500 premium than the corvette 63... there'll be always someone who will be upset cause his favourite car its not premium but premium must cover all the classes.

i think pd should just balance the level of detail of the cars.. imo the back seats and extra detailed engines etc. is just a waste of time, they should give us 1000 cars with just a "normal detailed" dashboard without the possibility to move the view into the cars and stupid stuff like head tracking.... or give us just 300 cars and take away all crappy standard stuffs.

Weve seen quite alot of Premiums at this rate, and chances are that teres gonna be quite alot of great cars left out of the premium bracket.

I refuse to believe people here cant see my point, I'm not hating on the prius becasue its in the game, it should be like starlets, micras and puntos...
But why does it need to be a premium,
I see licensing, but surely every toyota in the game isnt a premium, surely Kaz has some bit of sway to be able to say NO, it'll be in the game as we put it.
Surely the Prius brand isn't so sought after in games that Toyota can afford to push it to that extent, I would have figured given Toyota's recent history they'd be happy for any advertisment of their vehicles.

Because it's a brand new car, there is no 3rd gen prius in any previous GT game. They had to make the car from scratch therefore most likely premium. It's a hybrid which is a major reason why it's in the game along with other hybrids.

I just wanna make it clear here again, that I would gladly have detail removed from EVEN the P4, Ferrari F1, Miuara if it ment that we got consistency with all cars, then a Prius wouldn't be a problem,
I'm not puposely hating on the Prius cause its a small, slow car,

As another example I'd rather tune up and race spec a Golf GTi/ Polo Gti then drive the P4, yes thats right, but it looses alot of appeal when I know I wont likely see the cockpit of the Golf/Polo and race in the view Ivegrown used to in GT5P.

I've mentioned it before that the choice which cars became Premium may also depend on whether they planned this whole two-tier system ( to this extend at least ) from the start or not.
If they just started creating Premium cars with the intention of creating all ( or most ) cars to that level and the assumption they had the time and resources to do it you would just start somewhere I guess as opposed perhaps to the fact of knowing this selection might be very limited and you have to carefully select or handpick each vehicle to have a balanced representation of each type or category of car.

I'm not saying Premium cars should be only a certain type of car but some of the choices made do surprise me ever since Prologue.
I can see their point of building the new additions ( even a Prius ) to the new level of car-modelling but I really question why certain GT4 cars have been rebuild as Premium whilst others have not.
Not because of my preference, but why they would consider one car to be a better candidate than another and what they base it on.

If they did plan to get all or most cars to Premium level ( even if that meant a lesser amount of cars ) and suddenly changed their strategy mid-way either by a deadline not being reached or a marketing factor of wanting to include at least a 1000 cars we might just end up with a randomly chosen amount of finished or worked on ( at that time ) cars and some created afterwards to sort out the balance.

Look, the mix of premium cars is very good, don't you think? We have WRC cars, NASCAR stock cars, Super GT cars, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Maserati's, muscle cars, tuner cars, european cars, Le Mans classics, crappy/boring cars and more in between.

You make it sound like we have nothing but Prius's, but the fact is it's only one. No, I don't see your point.

I figured they would have known early on that they didn't have enough time to do all the cars, Well 6 months in anyway.
They knew it took 6 months to build a knew car from scratch(well thats what Kaz himself gladly admitted becasue it proved how much effort they put into the cars) and it couldn't have taken too long to figure out the maths,
As you said some of the inclusions and occlusions to premium are strange.
