Yet another of these pointless threads. I won't even mention my opinion on this, because it doesn't matter. Bottom line..they are there. DEAL WITH IT! Don't you people get tired of rehashing this meaningless point? Holy cow! This thread (one among many) is over 500 pages long!

There are tiers of irony in this post.

At first I wasn't bothered about the premiums being so used to '4 but after racing in cockpit for the endurance events view I do wish there were more of them to increase the immersion.

This thread will never die...

Okay, let's try to revive it then with some actual relevant discussion. :D
Kaz recently mentioned they were trying to eventually add some Premium versions of classic Standard cars already in GT5, no new additions.
Whether this is going to be done in an update or via DLC is unknown, nor is it known when (or if at all....) this is going to take place.
Now we don't know in which context Kaz used the term classic car since it's a broad definition which could for example mean classic in the context of GT-games but I think the most logical use of the term would be to describe oldtimers, youngtimers, historically significant older cars or just plain old rubbish combined under the file classic cars.
Here's a list I copied, pasted and edited from the Master Car List (not sure it's complete or overcomplete for that matter) of Standard cars which could possibly be regarded as classic cars eligible for the full Premium nip and tuck.

Which ones could be the most likely candidates? Try not just to think which ones you would pick yourself but which would really add something to the existing Premium line up 'objectively'.
Not sure how many Premiums could be added eventually, maybe 10, 15, 20 or just 5?
(I've added cars like the Caterham and Jay Leno Tank Car as well due to them being 'unique', although both ofcourse strictly speaking aren't classics) :)

FLIGHT50
PD shot themselves in the foot with these Premiums. They went overboard for sure. They could have made all cars medium detail or just touched up the worse imported standards to the level of the standards that look great. While driving in GT, you race going forward. It should not be so crucial to detail the rear seat or any of the interior besides the dash board. When driving you don't see all the extra stuff. In replays they could have given the same view to replay in which we have to drive in turn, eliminating alot of precious space and time that could have went elsewhere.

They goofed in a lot of areas with GT5. In house priority and decision making was poor and the results show.

I disagree, i loved what they did, the attention to detail, thats why i favour this game over shift, or f1 2010, one of the aspects that i have loved GT so much, was for there car graphics. I hate the standars, some of them, make me feel like i'm playing gt4 again, but some are necessary like the Le mans cars, the veyron, caterham, jay leno tank, shelby series 1. I hate to see some of these cars as standards, because they are the ones i enjoy.

Standard cars are NOT PS3 quality, they ARE PS2 quality, that alone is just a bit wrong and shouldn't happen, they should cut the car list and made them all premium. Out source the modelling or something, they shouldn't be in the game looking as bad as 90% of them do.

Keep the great standards but get them made premium (had to say this so people that aren't on the same planet as me get what I mean, by "we shouldn't have standard cars" I mean keep the cars but make them premium, so the "I love the variety" argument doesn't work. :) they should of somehow got more people to model the cars. I do NOT care about the slight lack of quality that would happen sometimes if they outsourced the work as long as it got done !

Standard cars are pretty much decomposed and recycable cars well actually its worse than that.

Also quality-wise I dont think they even match PS2 , the quality for some are even PS1.

No standard car no matter how bad is comparable to a car from GT1-GT2

That standard car posted earlier is way better than the cars from GT2.

I'd rather they model their cars in house, and to not out source them, enough jobs have been lost around the world as it is. Even If they only used out sourcing for modeling support, I still would be against it.

The cars and tracks in GT5 are akin to autobiographies of PD and their workmen ship... and yes even the standard cars :)

This isn't actually how it would work. PD outsourcing to increase the productivity does not mean they would fire all of the inhouse team members.

Wow! This is a huge thread. I couldn't let it die.

From the earlier comment about which standard cars I would want to be turned into premiums, I have to say:
-Bugatti Veyron (obviously)
-Toyota Supra RZ (also obvious)
-Jaguar XJ220 (I love this car)
-Dodge Viper GTS-R Race Car (#91,#51; either one)
-Chevrolet Corvette C5R Race Car (To compete with the Viper around LeMans 👍)
-Chrysler 300C (don't ask )

What are your opinions?
