ZR1 RM - Awful Car

Do you mean upgrade/mods or actually tuning the car? You should always RM your car before purchasing upgrades, because the RM includes some upgrades. If you upgrade everything first and them RM your car you're just wasting money. Plus, if you RM your car after installing all the upgrades, it will uninstall all the upgrades that don't come with the RM. So you will then have to go back and re-install them, NOT repurchase them.

Thanks for the advice.

So are you saying that turbos and exhaust (bolt on parts) will still be in my inventory? I will just have to re-install them? So the engine tuning will have to be redone?

Now that I think of it I have a stage 3 engine tuning that is in my items list and I couldn't figure out how it got there. So I guess when I RM'ed my Vette that it took the stage 3 off and placed it in my items?

Yeah, I don't know if the parts will be in your inventory or if you just have to go to the "Tune Car" option in your garage and re-install them there (sorry never did had to re-install parts). I think the only parts that don't come with the RM are the Engine upgrades, Intake System, and the Chassis Reinforcement. I could be leaving something out.

In my experience with the car, I have blown away the competition. I come damn near close to lapping the last car on the American Championship Indy 5 lap race. I run 220 straights, 200-208 corners. 43.000-43.400 laps all day.

I also bought this car after reading people's recommendations here. First time I took it out, I didn't tune it and it was horrible but after applying a tune I found on the tuning thread (don't remember whose tune it was) it became a terrific car to drive and it was a quite easy win.

Would be nice to get an idea of a GREAT tuning setting, havent bought the car but must buy soon for those 2 races 👍

Please share!

anyway, I thought I'll share the tune I used for the indy race :)

downforce 35/53
trans gearing 261
diff 10/20/10
ride height 0/0
spring rate 16.6/13.4
damper ext 9/7
damper comp 9/7
anti roll 3/5
camber 2.0/1.5
toe 0.0/-.85

tires racing soft/soft
905 hp

my car was completely brand new when I race it, so it had less than 905hp back then (it was ~880ish hp I think), but it still won even though my driving was quite rubbish and I'm using ds3 :sly:

In my post, 3 posts above your is my favorite, Sail IC's.

I noticed this just afterwards.

After adjusting the settings, i can confirm that they did wonders to this car. :)

I guess my setup sucked before as i just couldnt stop it from twitching. Im a noob regards tuning, and using those settings worked miracles. 👍

I really need to learn how to tune properly if this setup is anything to go by.

Thanks to whomever it was who put the work into this.

I can still drive this a few beers deep using (mostly) Sail IC's tune! I really like this car on this game, but once you pass your limit it's time to hope for a decent Bob performance;).

I have used the rkm tune... Its still dreadful. The back end wont stay still and it isnt anywhere near the standard of the 'like the wind' cars... On the corners of indy i have to slow down waaaaay too much that basically lets the other 11 cars fly past me!

Ill give it another try tomorrow, failing that im willing to swap with someone? Ill stick to grinding credits with my max'd gt-r...

something's wrong then, because with just a touch of adjustments, you shouldn't have to brake at all on Indy in the ZR1. it has massive amounts of grip. it fights the whole time, but you can hit the corners at 200-205mph fairly easily.

before unlocking the American Championship, i used Like The Wind to grind credits, and never lost in the ZR1.

i wouldn't even consider taking it into the GT All Stars, though.
its the same type of opponents, but Like The Wind is more open tracks... on the tracks in the GT All Stars race, you're not gonna have any production vehicle beat those Group C race cars. just like taking the Formula Gran Turismo (a fantasy F1 car) into the GT All Stars is a cakewalk.

they're on different levels.
the ZR1 dominates cars in its class.

Don't agree with that at all.

I used the ZR1 RM and went back to the All Stars cup which I had previously done Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Bronze on - I used both the GT-R 500 Stealth and the Stealth AMG SLS for that, both fully modded. I tried it again with the ZR1 RM and first time no real issues all golds. It's a very quick powerful quick car so you need to understand the concept of slow in fast out to be able to drive it properly. It's more than capeable on the tighter tracks with the right person behind the wheel.

i heard that if you do RM after doing full non-RM mods, then you will never get full power out of the car... is that true?

i bought my ZR1 new, did full mods but no RM, and the car was crazy fast. i earned more, bought the RM package, and now the car is way slower in the bottom end even when i drop the gearing down. the R32 is twice as quick as me under 80-100mph. is this normal? i'm wishing i never did the RM. someone on another forum said if you do the RM after all other mods that your power is permanently capped. if that's true, is there anyway to re-do this or am i stuck with the car until selling?

You have to re-apply some of your mods, it takes them off, check the tuning menu.

The ZR-1 is a brilliant car, in real life it made bits of the GT-Rs record on the 'Ring and it wasn't even that clean a lap.

Plus, they look awesome.

My ZR-1 won like the wind races with ease buy well over 10 decode and also was easily able to win the GT All-stars.

The car has alot of grip and can be setup very well to be well capable of over 900bhp when fully modded.

Yes but the ZR-1 has almost 150 more bhp and weighs 500 lbs less. I have a corvette IRL and I love it but it's a 1980. Tuned of course... Maybe I'll post some pics later. But IMO I think the ZR-1 is stupid. I mean it has a glass porthole on the hood to show off a plastic cover for the supercharger. STUPID! let's not forget the most boring interior of any car ever. Just imagine buying a GT-R in real life for 70k and using the remaining 30k you saved from not buying the ZR-1 and puting it into the GT-R... Catch my drift?

Hate it. Don't usually tune cars as I love the idea of driving stock models. Tried various tunes provided in the tuning forum and while the overall handling did improve, there are far more better options out there within the same HP range, the R10 being one example.

mazda 787b will smoke it anyday.

the american championship is easy, even a fully tuned Ford GT will win these races maybe by 1 s , but still saved me 400k+ :D

The RM Vettes(I used the Z06 base) are the CHEAPEST car you can get to use against the LMPs/Group C cars with a chance of winning. For those saying they don't like "tuning" their cars. You need to realize the fact that they are RACE CARS. They needed to be setup to work properly. If you don't have Furai and no 3-4 million to blow on an actual race car, the 5-600k you spend on RM Vette is the best return on investment car you can use. I used it to clear all the big races all the way to Dream car and it was entirely doable. All-Star races being the hardest. Like The Wind events even though you are racing against the same cars as All-Star, the competition and track combination I find to be much easier.

BTW, the All-Star race at Tokyo with the car is the origin of my hate for that track. I didn't win it in my championship run but I went back trying to do it in the same car. It is the most god awful track for that car as the understeer over those long corners are absolutely PITA...

Well after a lot of recommendation I bought the ZR1 and RM'd it. I have tried it on 'like the wind' and GT Allstars. Its absolutely awful, its extremely slow compared to my GT-R and handles a lot worse. So the credits i was saving for a PROPER race car i have now wasted. Well looks like a few more pointless races to win the 800k I have just blown.

I agree. I was expecting fireworks after all the positive things other players, most likely Americans I now realise, had said about it. Still, at least I got a trophy for the 300 odd grand I wasted on its RM conversion.

I agree , i hate this car with a passion .

My Ford GT blew it away .

But its pretty though .:sly:

ZR1+RM and Nissan GTR are both great cars but you'll need to be able to adapt your driving style for each car to enjoy them.

ZR1 RM is a fantastic car. I would definitely not use the word "awful" in my description of it. Like the Wind can be a trying event, given the varied classes represented on the grid. The ZR1 was never meant to contend with LMP cars, but in this game, in that series it can. Myself and many others have won LTW with the ZR1 RM. It took me a few times, but I did it.

Perhaps your driving style are just not suited to the car, as it isn't very forgiving, and the GT-R is forgiving and then some.

I understood you can tune the ZR1 further then the ZR1 RM.

My ZR1 RM is chrome silver, not a lot of it shows though.
Anyway my BOBs like it.

Yes, it is a money machine, but you must upgrade it fully.

I get 43.0 laps as well with mine and similar speeds as you say.

For the price, the ZR1 RM is a frigin beat. I was doing Indy last night and hitting 39.0 39.1 laps with it. If I caght a draft, it would be 38 seconds. i was 220mph in the turns and 235 in the straits every lap, never touching the brake. I might have to let of the gas for a second if I took a corner wrong though.
