Forza Horizon 4 Season Change: No Cold Turkey

Autumn has come around again in Forza Horizon 4 to bathe the UK in golden leaves and intermittent rain showers. During this Thanksgiving weekend, players can look forward to a feast of events and prizes.

It’s a largely classic cars theme for prizes this week, along with more prizes for completing the newest seasonal playlist to 50% and 80%.

Giving Thanks

Headlining the Autumn playlist completion prizes this week is the 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Although this was marketed as a sports car, the Ghia has much more humble roots.

The Karmann is often described as one of the best-looking cars to come from VW. Despite the swoopy styling from Italian coachbuilders Ghia, the Karmann’s mechanicals are shared with the Beetle. That means a 1.5-liter, rear-mounted flat-four making just 53hp. However, performance was never the Karmann’s aim, as its looks are more than enough to draw attention.

If you’re after more grunt, look towards the 1993 Porsche 928 GTS. Conceived to orginally replace the 911, especially in the American market, sales of this GT ultimately failed to unseat Porsche’s iconic sports car. The GTS is the final curtain call for the 928, with a wider stance and a beefy 5.4-liter V8. Putting 345hp onto the road, the 928 makes for a pleasing German muscle car.

Autumn’s Photo Challenge sends to hunt some ancient ruins, as #RomanRoadster asks you to snap a Modern Sports Car over at Mortimer Gardens. Seasonal championship prizes for Autumn feature the Auto Union Type D and the VW Type 3 1600 L sedan.

Moving away from the classics theme, one prize to go for is the Lexus RC-F. In order to keep up with BMW moving its M3 Coupe to the M4 name, Lexus created the RC-F in responce. In terms of pure firepower, the Lexus can certainly scare the M4, with its 5.0 liter V8 pumping out 471hp. However, the RC-F is a bit of a porker compared to the BMW, tipping the scales at nearly 4,000lb.

To bring the RC-F home, you’ll need to win the “Family Car Frenzy” championship.

Be thankful for Super7 giving more challenges to keep your skills sharp for another week. Finish each of the seven cards to win a Windows XP Shutdown horn.

Forzathon Events

Forzathon goes all-American for Thanksgiving, and shines the spotlight on the angry 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Climb aboard this supercharged snake to get started.

Next, prove the Shelby’s worth in its natural habitat by winning 3 Drag Strip events. After that, turn those rear tires into dust by earning a total of 1 million Skill Score. With 662hp under your right foot, holding skill combos will be a breeze.

Finally, wrap up Autumn by taking victory in a Road Racing Series event at Lakehurst Forest Sprint.

Forzathon Shop

Two different types of extreme are in the Forzathon Shop this week, starting off with the 2017 Vuhl 05 RR.

This startup Mexican marque has big ambitions to square off with established track specials such as the Ariel Atom and KTM X-Bow. Taking the already featherweight 05 as a base, the RR goes one stage further with more power and more aerodynamics. The 2.3-liter turbocharged Ford Ecoboost engine has been tweaked to produce 385hp, and it only has to haul a car weighing under 1,600 lb This particular version of the 05 RR competed at the 2017 Race of Champions in Mexico.

The Vuhl will set you back a hefty 599 Forzathon Points, but it will be a thrilling alternative to rival track specials.

If you’re after extreme power, there’s the 2011 Koenigsegg Agera.

Replacing the CCX, the Agera keeps the insanity factor high and performance even higher. Under the hood sits a newly designed 5.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 pushing 950hp. Despite the rear wing carrying over from the CCX, the Agera should still easily top 250mph.

The Agera costs an identical 599 FP, and will certainly cause upsets among the established hypercar elite.

Clothing and novelty items up for grabs include the Extreme Offroad T-shirt and the Pop ‘n’ Lock emote.
