The fresh set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges, comprising five races with bonus rewards for completion in the seven-day window, are appearing on consoles around the world as midnight arrives on Friday morning.
Appearing to players who’ve completed the GT Cafe career, Weekly Challenges are a regular event for boosting the coffers (and garage). They’re highlighted in a green box within World Circuits, and consist of five races — four existing events and a “Special Event” created just for the week.
It’s that Special Event that forms the entry level race this week, in the form of a one-make event for the Citroen BX added in Update 1.60. The second such event, this week it’s a one-lap race at the Circuit de Sainte-Croix A layout — the second week in a row that Sainte-Croix has appeared — with a 35,000cr reward. The AI cars, of which there are only seven, are not highly tuned, so this one’s a breeze with only a little diversion from a standard car.
We’ve got a little jump to a 40,000cr reward for the Japanese FR Challenge 450 at Autodrome Lago Maggiore West. It’s only a three-lap race on this compact course, and it requires a Japanese road car with the front-engine/rear-wheel drive layout. Don’t worry about the “450” of the title, as it’s just a recommended Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race.
Trial Mountain hosts the next race, with the ten-lap World Rally Challenge Gr.B making an appearance. It’s a curiously low-value event, at 65,000cr for taking victory, and given that it requires a Gr.B car on Racing Tires, it’s likely going to cost more to enter it than you earn from winning…
The Ferrari Circuit Challenge offers a touch more, with the five-lap race at Dragon Trail Seaside offering up 90,000cr. You’ll need a Ferrari, of course, and you can use anything from the brand of any kind — road or race — so long as it doesn’t exceed the 700PP cap.
Finally, and oddly, we have another one-lap race. This time it’s the Lightweight K Cup event at the Nordschleife as added in Update 1.61, and there’s some steep restrictions here. You’ll need one of the seven available Kei cars (of which the Honda N-One is the most recently added), with Comfort Soft tires mandatory and a 400PP cap. Watch out for wet weather too, though you’ll be on treaded tires by requirement, as you race for a 100,000cr prize.
Bonus rewards are back to normal fare this week. Clearing any one race earns you a Six-Star (Parts) Ticket — parts still not being sellable, of course — while completing any three lands a 150,000cr ticket. Finishing the set lands a Six-Star (Car) Ticket, which can offer any Brand Central car worth 500,000cr or more including Invitation vehicles. The lack of credit tickets though does make this one of the lowest-earning weeks ever.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday August 22.
