Fanatec has confirmed it is investigating reports of Gran Turismo DD Pro wheel bases disconnecting, dropping force feedback, or behaving erratically in Gran Turismo 7 following the arrival of update 1.71 last week.
1.71 was an unusually deep update, overhauling the game’s tire, suspension, and steering physics, revising force feedback output for wheel users, and (at long last) bringing FullForce support to the DD Pro. “FullForce” is Fanatec’s high-frequency force feedback system, which layers fine details like curb and surface textures on top of the wheel’s regular output.
Unfortunately, that long-awaited feature seems to have arrived with some baggage. Users in our own forums have been reporting problems since almost immediately after the update, with force feedback cutting out repeatedly, bases spinning to full lock at maximum force, and wheels requiring a restart, with issues often surfacing around the 20-minute mark of longer races. At least one user has found that turning FullForce off entirely resolved the problem, which lines up with Fanatec’s own advice below.

According to Fanatec’s statement, current reports suggest the FUL setting (which controls FullForce strength in the wheel’s Tuning Menu) is the key variable. Running FUL below 100 appears to reduce the likelihood of a disconnection, and the company recommends a lower setting as an interim precaution while its investigation continues.
If you’re still seeing disconnections or other unexpected behavior, the advice is to reduce FUL further, or switch it to Off entirely. That effectively means giving up FullForce for now. It’s a hard pill to swallow for DD Pro owners who waited over two months for the feature to go live, but preferable to a wheel that cuts out mid-race.
Should your wheel base shut down and fail to operate normally after a restart, Fanatec asks that you contact its support team with your firmware version, your Tuning Menu settings, and whether you’re running the standard power supply (5Nm) or the Boost Kit (8Nm).
Fanatec says identifying the cause is its highest priority, and that it will share more information as soon as it’s available. We’ll update as the situation develops; in the meantime, if you’re experiencing issues with your DD Pro, you can compare notes with other players in the update 1.71 discussion thread and the Fanatec General Discussion thread in our forums.
