Visitors to CinemaCon at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas this week will get a chance to test-drive Gran Turismo 7 in special Gran Turismo movie-themed driving rigs using D-BOX motion simulators.

The rigs, pictured above and photographed by a number of event attendees, each consists of movie-themed chassis, PlayStation 5 and Thrustmaster T-GT hardware, and what appear to be D-BOX HF-L4 platforms at approximately $9,000 each.

These universal bases provide haptic feedback through the rig via four sideways-mounted D-BOX G5 actuators, each with 1.5 inches of travel to replicate the vibrations you’d get from the race track itself literally through the seat of your pants.

It’s not clear where in the venue this set-up is, but we can see five players in the lobby (and a suggestion of at least seven, going by the names) despite there being only four rigs, hinting that more may be behind the camera. Notably all four cars on track — Big Willow at Willow Springs — are Nissan models…

Sony will be hosting a live presentation in the venue’s main conference area — the hotel’s “Colosseum” — which begins at 1815 local time (0115 UTC) to highlight upcoming releases for 2023. That’s expected to include various SSU Spider-Man titles, the un-named sequel to Ghostbusters Afterlife, and Gran Turismo. The presentation won’t be streamed, but we’re expecting a new trailer will be available soon after.

For those of you not yet familiar with the Gran Turismo movie, it’s an adaptation of the true story of Jann Mardenborough who won GT Academy in 2011 and used that as a stepping stone to drive the fastest closed-cockpit circuit racing cars in the world at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Mardenborough will be played in the movie by Archie Madekwe, with Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell playing his parents, David Harbour as a retired racer who mentors the youngster, and Orlando Bloom as a marketing executive. However you might catch a glimpse of Mardenborough himself, as he’s reportedly among the professional drivers in the racing scenes!

According to IMDB.com, there’s also a role for Gran Turismo 7’s in-game host, Sarah, as played by Selin Cuhadaroglu — and if you were ever curious what her surname was, it’s apparently “Eaton”.
