The Goodwood Festival of Speed is something that’s almost too good to be true – it’s the world’s largest gathering of the mostexotic, rare, and desirable cars you can imagine, and it takes place every summer in the beautiful English countryside.  Of course, it always attracts some of the biggest stars from motorsports, but Kazunori Yamauchi, GT Academy winner Lucas Ordonez, and the Citroen GT made this year’s show all the more special for GTPlanet members in attendance.

Yamauchi was particularly busy, spotted filming lots of material for what is assumed to be Gran Turismo TV.  He slipped behind the wheel of a 1966 Jaguar XJ13 – the only one ever produced, with an estimated value of $11 million (feel free to speculate about its inclusion in GT5).  He also sat down with F1 drivers David Coulthard and Mark Webber as “part of a documentary he’s making,” according to Red Bull Racing.  Lucas also got in on the action, hanging out with Yamauchi at the show and meeting current Formula 1 Championship points leader Jenson Button.  He also got the chance to drive the famous Goodwood Hillclimb himself, piloting a new Nissan 370Z.

A big thanks to RetroGlide for sharing these excellent pictures from the event with us!  Take a look at our full gallery after the jump for more…

I would like to thank Jordan for adding my shots as well, other then that I am still uploading the rest of my Goodwood FOS 09 shots.

I’ll defend Kaz a little bit here, even though I am frustrated too. What he’s doing (and has done) publicity-wise for the GT franchise is great. What other developer of driving games has such an influence that they can design in-car instrumentation and concept cars (now a production car, kind of!). The GT Academy is another great piece of marketing and quite an amazing reality. Publicity at Goodwood is good for the game franchise. He may also be building his relations with car manufacturers. I’m sure he has his minions working away for him :) Even so, I’m sure he’s also very involved. You never know, perhaps he was on holiday.

way to go Kaz, keep making appearances so you can keep telling reporters your game isnt done. How about getting on a plane back to JP and finish up the vaporware that you keep promoting.

I remember the festival of speed well (and always will do since its my 1st one) Truly amazing seeing all of the guest stars such as Loeb and Hamilton there and legends like Sterling Moss. A true honor to see these magnifecent machines new and old driving up the hill.

I don’t know why everyone says that Kazunori should be working and not out at these events like he is the only one making the game and when he is away all work stops, He is the President and Representative Director of Polyphony Digital seen here: http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/index.html their are 3 other directors and 110 employees.

If it’s so important for Kaz to be in their building till the game is done than its good to see him out at events and showing up at the Top Gear studio, to me that and saying that their will be no more updates for Prologue means that GT5 is close to being done, and hopefully will be released within 4 to 8 months. it may be a long time to think months, but in 4 months it will be November and 8 would be march of 2010 witch seem to be the to possible dates for a release. and like Alan said i would like to see a link for proof if you are quoting something that was said that didn’t happen

I like how alot of people look at this stuff as “now it will come out in 2011 or 2012,” and still want the PD team to update Prologue, you think their not doing enough for us(the fans) cause we are starved for info and Prologue may be stale(its not for me thanks to the WRS) and we would all like the game tomorrow but its not going to get here any sooner if they give us 3 more cars and/or another track, but it might if they don’t.

Why are there idiots on here saying its a 2010/11 release date, the game was featured at e3, it was featured on official playstation magazine a few weeks ago, Kazunori Yamauchi said it was finished and that they were just concentrating on getting rid of the bugs, they just announced that they have stopped doing updates for gt5p, please tell me, i would love to know where you are getting your info from?, my personal belief is that it will be out december at the latest

maybe he’s testing more cars for the game! Look at the photos. There’s cars we never seen on GT like the Alfa Romeo. Plus there are tack cars there too. I doubt he’d be wasting time there

  8. S_M_1991

he seems to be spending a lot of time doing events! he should be concentrating on the game really and get it out soon! but as ppl have said before, that wont happen!

I can’t think of any other developer that is out in the public so much but doesn’t even have a current product available for purchase. I like the GT series very much but they need some serious competition. The whole GTTV for 1.99 for 15 minutes of video is ridiculous. I can only hope Shift comes out and becomes the leading race sim on PS3. Maybe then PD will focus on getting their product completed in a reasonable amount of time.

I am getting more and more disappointed and i hate that, because i never wanted to get any bad feelings about a GT game until its release.
But so far i am waiting for more than a year just to read some official statements about some facts in GT5 like, damage-system, wheater-effects, Racetypes, AI, RELEASA-DATE…..
All i could read was “you will see damage very very soon (summer 2008)”, “GT5s release will be sooner than you think (impossible now, i never thought that i have to wait so long)” and so one.
I know they need time, as always, and i have no problem with that. But missing support in GT5P and some lies (like above), no Ingame material and no releasedate so far, make my really feel said about GT5. And i hate said feelings about any GT (never had them before ;) ).

Dont misunderstand me. I am not angry cause of time for developement thy need.
I am angry cause of lies and a big lack of informations for every GT-Fan and espacially for every GT5P customer.

    Mfg

a big GT fan (with pain in his heart)

When does this guy work? Always on some events in the world. Let us wait Mr. Yamauchi, we have time. A 2011 release would be nice.

Okay before any other starts to ask the R question: did he say anything about a release date of GT5? ;)
