Time is ticking down on the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo. With less than a month until E3 takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, the big gaming companies are starting to tip their hands. First up is Microsoft, with the return of their FanFest initiative.

500 lucky gamers will be able to take part in the free event. Things kick off bright and early at 9:30 on June 13 with the Xbox E3 briefing. After that concludes, players in attendance will get the chance to play brand-new games, as well as meet and chat with various members of the industry. The day wraps up at the Petersen Museum, which has featured a Forza exhibit since the stunning KPF-led redesign of the building was completed late last year.

At 10:00 PM on June 11, fans will be able to line up at the Microsoft Store at Westfield Century City to get their FanFest tickets. You can read all the details here.

For driving sim fans, the draw is undoubtedly the Forza portion of the event. With the next Forza title scheduled to show up at E3, this could be the chance for a select few to sample the game before it’s even shown on the Expo stage. It may also feature Forza Motorsport 6, which enjoyed a triple-screen setup at FanFest in 2015, and just added a NASCAR expansion last week. Who knows, maybe there’s an update planned for Forza 6: Apex

Either way, it’s not long now. GTPlanet will be present at E3, and we’ll be bringing you all the racing game news from the show floor as it happens!

P.S. Even without the gaming connection, the Petersen is a metal-ribboned Mecca to the automobile. Check out the Petersen Museum site for all manner of delicious metal.

I just hope an Asian setting like Japan is done right. I don’t want to see a game that takes place in Japan but doesn’t have keep left traffic, correct road markings, expressways where you can crossover to the oncoming lane (no dividers), more American cars than Japanese, people partying like they’re in Europe.. it would be a very offensive game.

A pet peeve of mine is when content is removed for seemingly no reason. I agree that more Japanese cars would be welcome if the setting is indeed Japan, but I don’t think removing cars from other nations is the answer.

Ideally, I’d like to see all the road cars in FM6 show up. Race cars don’t have a place in the Horizon games, but other than that, I don’t see a reason to remove anything, from the Brat right up to a P1.

Since Forza 6: Apex is currently at its beta stage, probably this will allow for the full Xbox One version (with all of its current DLC’s as standard) to be unlocked. Or better yet, the announcement of Forza Horizon 3 and possibly more DLC plans before then.

If this is true, my tears of frustration with Forza 6 aren’t because of a bad wheel implementation, but driving in the game really is just awful. I have a feeling mine really is broken though, because it won’t recognize that a wheel controller is plugged in.

Besides, the racing outside of Forza is so superb, between Gran Turismo, Assetto Corsa, PCARS (personally not a huge fan of those two games, but they’re there for the fans), and the ever lovin’ and ever growin’ RaceRoom.

Good luck to Forza, but I’ve never cared for a Horizon, and I think I’m finally done with the series, thanks to the sudden appearance of a certain Livery Editor in another game. ;D

Wrong. 5 was ordinary I’ll give you that but 6 is the best this franchise has seen especially with a good wheel (TX) .

    3. rocketcaron

And also Tenacious D, I wonder why driving in the game so awful… certainly have nothing to do with the fact that uour wheel is not recognized! ? lolllllll

    4. Johnnypenso

I can safely conclude the driving in Forza 6 is awful because my wheel is broken and not recognized by the game. Makes sense.

@TheGTGuy: Yeah, totally unbiased opinion there with that username of yours. Do you mind expanding on that if you’re actually serious?

    6. Obelisk

I’ve played Forza 4 to FM6, including the two Horizon games and the god-awful 360 port of FH2. FM6 has the best physics model in the series.

  2. TRLWNC7396

    Gee, why am I NOT surprised… ;)

PD’s got them on the run. Let’s see what this battle brings out! ;)

    1. Johnnypenso

You’re not surprised they are repeating a successful event that they also held last year?

    2. TRLWNC7396

      Honestly, I don’t care what M$ does. It’s a disease….

It’s just that the timing of this announcement is rather interestingly placed….

Almost the “Okay, they have had their fun, but we are still here. Come pay attention to us, please!”

Oh, well. It’s fun to watch the games/wars of advertisement… ;)

    3. ImaRobot

So, an annual event that they’ve been having already is screaming that? It’s weird how the one’s who have had the event planned and going on way before even the announcement of GTS is the one screaming that.

    4. Johnnypenso

Doubling down on this being a reaction to the recent GTSport event eh? What’s next? Assetto Corsa’s entire development/launch planning was delayed until August just to get a 3 month head start on GTSport? Forza 7’s development schedule is based on the GTSport launch date? The entire racing game world revolves around PD…lol.

    1. Kyle Patrick

Considering they had FanFest last year, with FM6 as a main feature… probably nothing. There is a history here, as much as people want to pretend otherwise.

    2. ImaRobot

These events don’t just get planned spontaneously. Do you really think they’d be able to rent out such a big and popular place on such short notice?

  3. SolidRacer

Talking about e3… Wouldn’t it be great guys if gt sport show us classic Pd trailer and with a surprise note.. “here is how our new sound sounds like” and goes gameplay insanely loud blowing the s#!+ out of the audience… At least one car, show us at least one car with new sounds…. This forza guy must did something for the new gt sound… ( absolutely not hating, I just agree that it could be better easy with some tweaking).
