Gran Turismo 7’s Next Update to Include Hyundai Elantra N TCR

The news from the Gran Turismo World Finals in Fukuoka continues to roll in. Alongside the major milestones and future venue announcements, Polyphony Digital and Hyundai have pulled back the curtain on the next confirmed addition to the Gran Turismo 7 car roster: the Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

The car was officially revealed on stage by Kazunori Yamauchi and Joon Park, the head of Hyundai’s N performance brand. Park confirmed that the Elantra N TCR is slated to arrive in the next game update.

A New Heavyweight for Gr.4?

While Gran Turismo 7 already features a healthy selection of Gr.4 machinery, the addition of a modern, world-beating TCR car is a big win for fans of front-wheel-drive racing.

The Elantra N TCR is Hyundai’s third dedicated TCR effort, following in the successful footsteps of the i30 N and the Veloster N. Developed by Hyundai Motorsport in Alzenau, Germany, the car was built from a “blank sheet of paper” to take full advantage of the Elantra’s stable, high-performance chassis.

Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters, delivering power strictly to the front wheels. During its development, touring car ace Gabriele Tarquini put the car through over 5,000 kilometers of intensive testing to ensure it was competitive out of the box. Since its 2021 debut at Daytona, it has gone on to dominate TCR championships across Europe, South America, and the WTCR.

More to Come in 2026

While the Elantra N TCR is the immediate prize, the partnership between Polyphony and Hyundai’s N division appears to be growing. Joon Park teased that this is only the beginning, suggesting that the company is working closely with the studio on further announcements scheduled for 2026.

Whether this means more road-going N models, additional race cars, or perhaps a new Vision Gran Turismo project remains to be seen.
