For weekend warriors looking to get their virtual racing fix, PC racing sim RaceRoom Racing Experience will be free to play in its entirety from now until August 18.
Ordinarily the title, also known as R3E, is free-to-play and consists of a handful of cars and tracks that you can access in single- and multiplayer modes. You’d need to pay for any further content you want to use, ranging from $1-$7 for individual cars or tracks and with various pack bundles included.
During this special promotional period you’ll be able to access all of the content without paying anything extra. That means over 250 cars across 45 manufacturers in 85 racing classes, and an exhaustive list of 69 track venues that adds up to a total of 168 including all layouts — and there’s no shortage of variety.
That could be a little overwhelming compared to the base game’s 16 cars and 6 tracks (18 total, including variations) that are always available. Luckily, with that month-long window, there’s no immediate rush and players can take their time and get behind the wheels of their favorite purpose-built racing machines and race to their heart’s content.

The track list ranges from some of the best-known circuits in the world to some under-the-radar gems — especially if you’re not familiar with courses in KW Studios’ Swedish homeland — so there’s likely to be something for everyone.
That includes drifters and hillclimb enthusiasts, who can get to grips (or slides) with the recently added Genting Highlands Highway point-to-point course. There’s also a Race of Champions-inspired head-to-head circuit in the shape of the fictional Twin Forest course.
Otherwise there’s plenty of circuits you’ll recognise from the F1, WTCC/WTCR, DTM, and GT Masters series, as well as courses you won’t often find as standard content in race games like Macau’s Guia Circuit, Circuit de Charade, and Knutstorp.
The 85-category vehicle list is no less wide-ranging, featuring cars from classic GTO, Group 5, and Group C eras up to the latest GT3 cars. Along with single-make categories like the BMW M2, KTM X-Bow GTX, and Praga R1, there’s classes like DTM and WTCC/WTCR — for which the official esports series use R3E — and even some open-wheel formulae.
For the duration of the promotional period, all of the content will available across all game modes, including ranked multiplayer, with no restrictions on anything.
If that weren’t enough already, every week there’ll be a new hot-lap event featuring a new car and track combination, with a prize for the top global leaderboard time consisting of the Special Summer Pack (the contents of which will be detailed later).
