Would You Let Someone Else Spec Your Quarter-Million Pound Car? Gordon Ramsay Did…

One of the great joys of buying a brand new car is making sure it fits your needs perfectly. In fact speccing a car up is so much fun that almost all brands now offer an online configurator. They’re a great way to waste an entire day… so we’re told.

Letting someone else spec up your car for you seems like madness. Letting them do it with a Ferrari 812 Superfast worth the thick end of a quarter of a million Great British Pounds might be the definition of insanity.

Yet one customer asked prestige vehicle dealer H.R. Owen to do exactly that. That customer was ex-footballer, celebrity chef and profanity enthusiast Gordon Ramsay.

Given Ramsay’s traditional response to things that rub him the wrong way, that’s quite the responsibility. Ramsay’s quite the Ferrari fan, but tends to go for relatively muted colors. He’s had a gray 458 and LaFerrari, a white LaFerrari Aperta (revealed to him on Top Gear) and a white F12tdf, albeit with a grey stripe.

Obviously H.R. Owen would bear this in mind for his new purchase, and keep it gray or white, right? Nope, the dealer made it military green. Luckily, it didn’t prove a kitchen nightmare — Ramsay loved it:

Or, in his own words, “I ****ing love it”. Well, it’s Gordon Ramsay after all. Calling it his “stealth bomber”, Ramsay seems rather pleased by his 789hp blind purchase…

Aside from the external options, it’s not clear what else H.R. Owen had installed on the car. The interior appears to be black, but there’s several options of black shades, not to mention seat styles and interior garnish.

If you fancy building your own 812 Superfast to rival Ramsay, the online configurator is available here.
