Burnout Paradise Remastered Arrives March 16

The wait is over. After a long saga, Burnout Paradise Remastered is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. EA and Criterion announced the new release of the title earlier today with a brand new trailer.

Although it won’t strike those who’ve been keeping up with the news as a shock, it is still relieving to see that the game does in fact exist. The trailer boasts that the title can be output at a 4K resolution on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro — quite the jump from last generation’s release. Fans will also be happy to hear that the remaster maintains the ultra-smooth 60fps. The port appears to be in the hands of Stellar Entertainment with input as required from EA and Criterion Games.

The new release is as ultimate as it gets, including all eight add-ons that released during the “year of paradise”:

  • Big Surf Island: Introduces an all-new district to Paradise City with fresh discoverables, events, online challenges, and nine new vehicles.
  • Cops & Robbers: Introduces new online game mode along with police variations for 33 of Paradise’s original vehicles.
  • Legendary Cars: Includes the Carson GT Nighthawk, Hunter Cavalry Bootlegger, Hunter Manhattan Spirit, and the Jansen 88 Special.
  • Burnout Bikes: Adds 7-10 hours of single-player and countless hours of multiplayer play. Includes four motorbikes: FV1100, FV1100-T1, Firehawk V4, and Firehawk GP Competition.
  • Burnout Paradise Toys: Includes toy versions of the following cars: Hunter Cavalry, Hunter Manhattan, Krieger WTR, Jansen P12, Hunter Takedown 4×4, Carson GT Concept, Hunter Citizen, Carson Inferno Van, and the Nakamura Firehawk GP Competition (Bike).
  • Boost Specials: Includes two vehicles with unique boost abilities: the Carson Extreme Hotrod and Montgomery Hawker Mech.
  • The Cagney Update: Includes two brand new vehicles and additional “community” vehicle finishes plus online game modes.
  • Burnout Paradise Party: Allows for a pass-the-controls group party in-game to complete challenges.

As a result of this, the remaster will bring Big Surf Island to the PC for the first time. All in all, the base game is improved with 100 cars, 10 tracks and everything needed to take full advantage of them. Ultimate Box, eat your heart out.

There’s one small worry that has us intrigued. The official Burnout Paradise Remastered website lists that multiplayer can be played with up to four players. The original release had support for eight players online so this would be a downgrade. Hopefully, this is a mistake.

Burnout Paradise Remastered lands March 16 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC version coming “later this year”.
