Design Lucas Ordoñez’s Helmet for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

newlidforlucas

Nissan is doing pretty much everything outside-the-box for their assault on the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year: they’re competing with a front-engined, front-wheel-drive LMP1 car (with wider tires in the front than the back, no less) that’s going to be piloted by two drivers who began their racing careers in Gran Turismo, Jann Mardenborough and Lucas Ordoñez.

Perhaps it only makes sense, then, that they’re also pushing the boundaries with helmet design, inviting the world to create Lucas’ helmet to be used in the world’s most famous race.

It’s easy to participate – just download the PDF template of Lucas’ helmet, create your design in your favorite image editor, then post it on Twitter using the #NewLidForLucas hashtag. Good luck, and don’t forget to stick the GTPlanet logo somewhere in your design! ;)

Does anybody know when the deadline is for this comp? Silly mobile keyboard made me post before I’d finished typing XD

This might be obvious, but you should probably try to leave out trademarks and such that you do not own the rights to, or your design will surely be rejected :p.

This is a pretty cool idea though. I’m looking forwards to seeing some creative designs.

What do I get for designing a new theme for helmet? Maybe Nissan are short on money and cannot hire a person for this job? There is something wrong with all this… could be global warming responsible for this?

Why do all the Spanish flag-themed entries have light blue in them? This isn’t a Fernando Alonso helmet contest. Lucas is from Madrid, not Asturias.

Leave it as it is bar a small Galactic Empire symbol somewhere, could hope for some Star Wars sponsorship then…
