Dior Creates a New Gran Turismo Collection, and You Can’t Buy It

Fashion house Dior has continued its association with Gran Turismo by creating a new collection of exclusive clothing items but — even if you’re fortunate enough to be able to afford them — they’re not for sale to the public.

The three-piece set has been assembled by Dior’s artistic director of men’s fashion, Kim Jones, and draws some inspiration from the virtual collection introduced into Gran Turismo 7 in August 2022. It consists of a pair of racing boots, a pair of racing gloves, and — once off the virtual track — a baseball cap.

Just like that 2022 virtual collection, the boots are based on the $1,250 Diorizon ankle boot with some design adjustments more appropriate to racewear. That includes a velcro ankle strap bearing the Dior wordmark, reworked and less central lacing, and an upper sporting a darker version of the Dior Oblique pattern jacquard.

The gloves were developed in collaboration with sports glove specialists Dal Dosso — which also manufactures the Puma gloves previously used at Gran Turismo World Series live events. These too have a velcro strap with matching Dior markings, as well as the “47” logo that commemorates Christian Dior’s debut collection in 1947.

Finally there’s the baseball cap, which has a singular version of the Dior Oblique design on the front as well as Gran Turismo branding on the sides. It appears to be based on the $600 Christian Dior Couture cap, with the same gray Dior Oblique jacquard interior lining.

If that all piques your interest, unfortunately they won’t be available in the shops or Dior’s own online selection. That’s because they were created exclusively for the Gran Turismo World Series finals and distributed directly to the ~60 attending finalists (and hopefully sent to the two who had to withdraw!) to wear during the event.

Of course, given the value of the pieces, we wouldn’t be too surprised to see one or two of the items — which also came in a special, Dior-branded, presentation box — to show up on auction websites before too long.

That all means that, along with the $4,600 Bulgari Aluminium x Gran Turismo Special Edition wristwatch, from fellow LVMH group brand Bulgari, the 2023 Gran Turismo World Series finals could prove pretty expensive for Gran Turismo memorabilia collectors!
