It’s been a little while since we heard anything more from innovative racing sim Endurance Motorsport Series as it advances towards its 2026 launch date, but developer KT Racing has now announced a limited closed beta is on the way.
For the uninitiated, EMS is an unusual team-focused racer/management title. You can, if you wish, solo it (and it doesn’t require an internet connection) and drive as much as you like — even exclusively — but it only really scratches the surface of KT Racing’s approach.
There are multiple roles, of which Driver is only one, and you can jump between them on the fly during any given race — to be replaced in your outgoing role by a simulated personality. You can be the race engineer, keeping a strategic overview of the race and issuing instructions to the driver, or the driver listening (in theory) to the instructions and carrying them out.
Moreover, this can also all be done in multiplayer. If you’ve got two good drivers and one not quite so into the whole racing thing in your circle of friends, you’ve got the basis for a team in a co-operative multiplayer mode. You don’t all need to start at the same time either, as players can jump into each other’s races too.
We’ve not yet heard if there’s going to be a competitive multiplayer too — players competing against one another, either solo or as teams — but we’re still a way from launch yet.
If it sounds like something you’d want to try out, there’s a chance coming up with the closed beta, for which you’ll need to register before Monday October 27 on a special sub-site on the Nacon page. You’ll also need a MyNacon account to take part, as well as sign an NDA if you’re accepted.
The closed beta itself will run from November 7-9 — a long weekend to get the most out of it — and at the moment this looks to be limited to Steam only. EMS is scheduled to launch in 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
