Fanatec Podium DD1 Gets Bigger Motor, Price Increase

Fanatec has announced some changes to its upcoming Podium Series of high-end sim racing hardware. These include a bigger, more powerful engine at its heart — and corresponding price increase.

To be clear, the price increase will happen soon: tomorrow, May 7 to be exact. The change affects both the Podium Wheel Base DD1 and Podium Racing Wheel F1. This is due to Fanatec determining both products will continue to use the same motor as the top-of-the-range DD2.

Continue? Yes: all pre-orders of the DD1 and F1 already used the higher-spec motor. This simplifies the lineup, as all three models will now use the same underlying tech.

Also changing on May 7 is a 50% increase to the Podium Series warranty. Sim racers picking up the direct drive products will enjoy a longer three-year warranty.

The DD1 and F1 are still available for their original prices, which you can find below. Starting tomorrow, they’ll rise to $1199.95 and $1599.95, respectively. You can reserve yours now via any of the following affiliate links to support GTPlanet:
