I agree totally, but the option might be nice for some (less hardcore / sissy) players. How many people complained about the 24hr races in GT4, because they couldn't get 100% completion. Babies. :p

Incidentally, I've not managed to do the 24hr races yet - I accept that as being my fault. I'm just not damned hardcore enough. :lol:

Of course, trophies might motivate some...

I think putting night racing on a circuit layout designed and/or used for the 24 hour race event would be a little bit silly without having a dynamic day/night cycle. There has to be some point during the race where it gradually changes from light to dark and vice versa.

In my eyes this is confirmation of a day/night cycle. I know that it is not official, but why else would they have the Nurburgring 24 hour layout at night?

I agree that, although a cool feature, 'ring "stuck" in the middle of the night would be kinda pointless. I think there will be day-night cycle, and of course an option to compress time, because maybe 0,001% of people are crazy enough to recreate the whole 24h deal!:scared:
Following from that, I think you will be able to choose the time of day when you want to race and also, if you wont the time to pass or to stay still at that chosen hour.💡
 
Played GRID last night.Have to say that day/night cycle in LeMans in REALLY enhances the experience!Driving at night has so different feeling.
Really hope PD do it!

p.s. I think it was 12 minutes per race usually...
 
I think that we're at least getting some kind of a cycle that'll happened when the car goes to pits. Like a day/night instantly, without continuous dynamic, depending on the time of the day. It shouldn't be hard to achieve this.

I hope that a complete dynamic cycle makes it in GT5, but I could live with an on/off day cycle.

Is completely in german and nothing new, but when asked about head tracking he says (roughly translated):
"We are looking into some technical gadgets for GT5 but we also want to release the game so I can't confirm headtracking right now"

And when asked about a release date (again only roughly translated):
"We know exactly that the fans are waiting for it and we want to release it too. I think that it's more painful for us than for the fans that we couldn't hold the last (march) release date ...the next time we will announce a release date we will be 100% sure that we can hold it to not make the mistake we did with the march date. You just have to wait a little longer until we announce a new date, only some days or weeks"

E3 can't come soon enough, I'm starting to expect a huge GT5 Blowout :D

Gonna be a long 7-10+ minutes if you break your headlights early in a lap on the 'Ring!

Done it in GTR2, scary even in a game. But boy it was fun.

Interesting that he mentions not being able to "hold" the March release date. Wonder what caused the marketing department to change the date. Thankfully though, he seems to indicate (at least thats what I get from it) that releasing the game is the top priority. Also good to hear soon not used for once, only "days or weeks".

Listened to the whole interview, and I'm getting the feeling that this guy is not only not allowed to tell anyone anything new, but that he also does not know the tiniest bit more than any of us. The things he said (i.e. ALL of them) have been announced in almost exactly the same wording by Sony/PD sources before.

As a matter of fact, I could have given the same interview.

He also said that "the GT Mode - the heart of Gran Turismo - will be like the olden days. (playing cars free, tuning, etc.)".
To me this sounds like that GT5 will not be as über fast-paced as GT PSP. 👍

Next he stated that they "will not release the game until it meets the high quality standard that fits GT. Therefore, the gamers need to be a bit patient, however hard that may be."
So maybe the delay is not caused by adding new content like 3D or whatever, but just because of some quality issue.

Again, my German is not fluent and I did miss a few bits. So please correct any mistakes I made.

It's not entirely pointless- like the article in news page said, so that GT5 players can "get an idea of what the pros go through during one of the world’s toughest races." While the whole experience would be better but if that doesn't happen, it will still be pretty amazing. Sooner or later you have to realise that the PS3 has its limit.

Not sure why anyone would think GT5 was ever gonna be like that, GT PSP only had that going because it was more of a Party game, sort of a on-the-go specifically for the platform its on. Of course its good to know they are bringing back the old stuff from GT1-GT2 though.

Exactly. They told us how the PSP version was going to be from the beginning. Not a full GT game but something to pick up and play while out and about or when you have a few minutes to spare for a race.

In an interview Yamauchi stated that GT5 would also be faster paced than before, or rather, more approachable for the casual player. Don't remember which interview though, my guess is either one from last year's E3 or TGS. I think that all the comments about GT PSP's lack of career mode, made PD think again.

I'm not putting anything under a microscope. I'm not complaining about weird shadows on bumpers, or wrong fonts, or anything that minute.

Obviously something you lack since I never said it was. I was pointing out that disregarding any negatives about the game simply because "it's just a demo" is rather dumb.

Which part exactly? If someone blindfolded me, turned that video on during cockpit part, I wouldn't know that it was a car, let alone an enzo.

Whether it's the sound, trees, skidmarks, etc.., some of you are rediculous.

It all comes down to the individual understanding that no matter how great GT5 is, it will NOT be perfect. It will however, be the best car sim on the consoles bar none.

What does coming to this forum and griping about things that don't really matter accomplish for anyone?
 
While I'm pretty confident that we will see Laguna Seca in GT5 anyway, I could also imagine that they will just have the old Nordschleife demos there. Would like to be proven wrong though, not only because I want to see how Laguna Seca looks in GT5 but also because Road America is a great track too.
 
None of the previous GT's was perfect and that didn't hold them from selling millions or satisfying us gamers.

It's just that the cell's power made our expectations skyrocket and us hard to please.
 
Would like some different tracks from the norm in GT or other racers. That's one reason to like fantasy tracks I suppose. Wouldn't Mind Brands hatch though.
 
Well, at least Laguna Seca doesn't have trees as far as I remember, so no complaints. :D

Every event which can possibly bring some news is welcome, it would be great to see the new Laguna Seca, the corkscrew must be even more intimidating in full HD glory. ;)

At no point did anyone say they were announcing the release date at E3.

It's highly likely, but it's not certain. They might just wait until TGS you know...
