So, I'd suggest not a defeatist acceptance(well, it is what it is, and that's that), but a more proactive acceptance with constructive criticism, objectivity(as much as we can...), comparisons and debates.
...
Absolutely! Excuse my apparent pessimism, it's late here too :dopey:
...
For years, it was "I don't look at or play other games, I have my vision" until recently when he fessed up that he did actually play the latest Forza and some others, and evaluated them as a game designer bla bla...that's just him finally coming to terms publicly, that he can't just dish out a game without half the stuff all the other games have had for some time, and that's why I'm grateful that Forza, as a prime example, did so good, that KY felt he needed to up his game to match and then hopefully surpass it.
...

Yeah, competition is always good, so long as you can keep on track according to your own "vision" at the same time. I'm hoping PD have "seen" Turn10's Forza, and raised them substantially ("feature"-wise). Then Forza 4 will have to be that much better, and so on and so forth.

Wow, Kaz basically apologized to his fans for the flawed release date :). If it makes the game better take your time Kazunori. Only Yamauchi can get away with that kind of thing, hell just look at Forza3 a few extra cars and a bunch of sh*** tracks, Dan should have put his foot down with Micro$oft to polish that Forza2 skin up a few more years then people wouldn't be longing for a Project Gotham Racing5 . All fanboy **** aside, GT5 is going to be the best of the series.

Lets have a big AMEN brothers!!👍:sly:

- It seems it was the latest build
- Graphics in 3D looked worse, jaggier than normal, might have been running at 720p or less
- Slowdowns at race start and with certain cars in front of the player's own, especially the FT-86
- Frame rate stabilized at around 30 fps, it seems
- Physics similar to the Time Trial version
- It appears that even with normal physics cars were very hard to drive. Most people wouldn't be able to drive them properly
- Nuerburbring track graphic quality has been reported to be disappointing. Trees were still cross-shaped
- Some of the cars available were [I'm copypasting here]: GT-R SpecV, ARTA NSX, SC430, FT-86, Impreza WRC, SLS AMG, HKS, 458 Italia, Motul Autech GT-R, etc. It seems only the Impreza WRC had damage enabled.

I just hope the difficulty the causal gamers are finding does not cause PD to have a Knee jerk reaction and lesson the physics down. I can only stand GT4 for so long (very high understeer vs little oversteer).

They can do whatever they want with the standard physics but leave the pro side alone in regards to realistic driving.

Not sure exactly which physics will be used for it, but there definitely is a "beginner mode". It is shown and driven in one of the recent videos from Nurburgring 24 hour demo.

You'll see it at 29 seconds:

It seems like it spreads the cars out, adds some weird stuff to the car (0-100 thing), and makes you turn the wrong way. :dunce:

Personally, I think its a good thing if implemented correctly. As this game becomes more realistic it will start to become inaccessible to some. 👎 They will realize how bad they are once they try to do the licenses. Then, they will hopefully improve.

If handled correctly, bringing more people into the GT Universe is always a good thing.

Someone must have left the (on the fly) wheel controls on and forgot to turn it off, GT5p has it well.

I wonder what those Pre-race options pertain to, it could effect the AI difficultly as well. :)

That weird stuff is not so weird. It is just the ingame menu where you can change some car setup settings while racing. In this case the 4WD balance is shown (the percentage of power going to the front and rear tires). Other options are TC, brake balance and some more. It is already in Prologue. The player must have accidentially hit this menu's button.

Hmmm, never noticed that in Prologue. Thanks for the clarification. 👍

This image shows the options a bit clearer. TCS, ABS, ASM, 4WDtq, BRK.F and BRK.R

I have a feeling that if GT5 does have the TT physics in the retail version, a lot of review sites will give the game lower scores because of it. More realistic or not, the harder a game is the worse it is reviewed and it could put a dent in the franchise that would take a while to recover from.

I just hope that they don't screw up the standard physics so that it doesn't put people off, since the Time Trial left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths.

Any news or video from Dot Park event in Tokyo?? Sony will show GT5 3D there...

I bind it with R1 button on controller (since Prologue).Very useful, but not available in time attack races.

The game is actually 10x easier to play with a controller, and that's what most reviewers will be using, sadly. So don't worry.

It's just using the track day feature from GT4 and GT5:P, hence the cars all spread over the course
Physics are probably standard with all aids on

take note - the AI black Enzo, locks up it's brakes with a puff of smoke, and goes off in one turn at 2:30 :)
Like I was saying ABS does not seem to be set for all cars automaticly now.

But the Enzo does have ABS in real life..... That's one thing I hate about GT, it may model the cars well visually and engine/power wise, but usually all the suspension, brake stuff is not exactly the same as the real cars. No real life car has a brake balance of 5/5 etc
I wish they started using real life values and settings for all cars

Wich new car has no abs? it´s still a game with options to turn things on and off... If they deactivate abs settings then others will say thats crap that you can´t turn it on or off...

Noble M600 ;D

Though it is doubtful we will see it.

I know the Mclaren f1 has no ABS, as do many race cars, and plenty of the older cars in GT5 off course

The McLaren F1 has no driving aids at all IRL ( ABS, TC, etc. ), same goes for all TVR's IRL and probably a lot of other cars from specialist firms.
Most cars from bigger companies do have ABS standard although some have the option to turn most driving aids off ( or at least limit them ).:)

Keeping with the conversation of ABS, my Kia Sorento has no ABS as the Sport package it came with does not allow for it.
Yeah imagine that, a sport package on a junk SUV!
Anyway...........

Anyone care to see a Kia race car in GT5?
Who knows, maybe?
This is a Street Tuner class car from the Grand-Am Rolex series, looks fun.

While I'm ramblin' on here, the series will be at Lime Rock Park next weekend.
First time for the DP cars. 👍

TT was on pro physics.

New cars have to have ABS fitted by law (at least here in the UK) if the production number is over a certain amount, i think its over 1000 but iam not entirely sure.

The law was brought in around 2004-ish

Are you sure? Didn't know about this law, but I do seem to remember TVR at least producing cars after that period without ABS ( also not aware of TVR production numbers ).

Lol. The problem with that statement is that we don't know what 5 and 5 means. Seeing as all cars, almost all?, start with 5 and 5, means that 5 and 5 are simply the stock settings. It also means that 5 front is not the same as 5 in the back. So while 5 and 5 on one car may be 60/40, it could easily be 70/30 on another car.

from autocar in 2004-

'' Every new car sold in Europe from this Summer must have anti-lock brakes fitted as standard - bringing a welcome windfall for buyers and an extra cost for manufacturers.

New Brussels legislation makes anti-lock mandatory from 1 July, so that even the cheapest city car must offer the safety device that only a few years ago was the preserve of luxury cars.

Some manufacturers have started fitting anti-lock brakes before the July deadline. Renault this month added anti-lock - previously a £565 option - to the Kangoo, making it the only firm in the top five to fit it to every model.

Low-volume manufacturers building fewer than 500 of a particular model a year, will be exempt from the new anti-lock brake rules.

SOURCE: Autocar. ''

There are very very few cars which can have the ABS disabled, the audi R8 can but only by using a main dealer tool to switch it off inside the ECU if memory serves.

^If I had a fast car like the R8, I'd keep the ABS on.

PLEASE. Explain that again. Are you saying that PD is making us determine our brake bias by an unknown? How??? 5 = 5 , meaning EQUAL. You cannot believe that 5 = 60% to the front and 5 = 40% to the rear, but only for x car. It's not that early here but.....that makes no sense.

Brake bias in most cars is not 50/50. It's more biased to the front. Having 5/5 in GT and the 5s being the same value for front and rear makes little to no sense.
