^^^ Good if true!!!I think you right. They don't want spend lot of time to update old demos.Especially when those demos are still extremely good!(and most tested i think).
For me TT sound engine is most realistic (REAL stereo image in cockpit!)

The Dot Park event is being held now in Tokyo, where visitors can experience GT5 in 3D for the first time. Here is some comment (google translated):

The second floor of Hillside latest 3D technology to experience the hill cafe / space 3 PlayStation in "Gran Turismo 5" 3D version has been exhibited. I have actually experienced, 3D looked out Route 246 neatly course familiar to wear glasses. I tried to change the cockpit view during game play, 3D and also perfectly compatible with the handle from the driver's arm, and felt the scenery outside the car stereo and seamlessly. Played three minutes per person. The course is fixed and the car will choose from among five choices. Exhibited here is only, or is reflected in the current retail version is said to be determined. However, it has made solid top, something to look forward to implementation.

So Famine, what was that car again?

I told everyone about 8 pages (100ppp) ago.

Incidentally, the main forums are not for addressing single-member messages. We have VMs and PMs for that.

Hmm they're still using the old Nurburgring - see what I mean by demos never having all the latest content :)
Looks like the same tracks and cars as the CES demo

IMO while nothing is obviously confirmed this means that PD at the very least has a night system in place. Technically if it can be done on The Ring it can be done on any track. Doing it one off would be highly inefficient. I do not think we will see night racing on every track though. KY is a stickler for details and since every track has unique lighting I think it would be quite difficult. I think we will see tracks like Le Sarthe that hold endurance races have this night option. However considering this rally circuits usually do not have lighting so given this logic rally at night is a strong possibility. Having this all be dynamic is really up in the air. But honestly if PD has gotten this far and implemented a night feature I see no reason, other than time, why they wouldn't be able to make it dynamic

They have night from GT1, you can apply your logic to GT1 but still we have some tracks with night.

I ask myself:
If i dont wanna stay 8 hours in front of the screen to watch the sun move along the sky, i need day/night dynamic cycle?

At least London has night option. So its really makes sence. We have a hope!!!

in my opinione the day/night cycle should be implemented just in endurance race like 24H of Nurburgring,Le mans,12H of Tokyo(gt4)....and in some town races like Londra,Rome....!!!!

I wish there would be an option by % for the endurance events, and the day/night dynamic cycle would go accordingly proportionally to your selection. For example 24 hours cycle/race in 2,5 hours or so.

This would be a huge feature to online endurance events.

Yes, rFactor have that option and the time is 5x accel. by default, you very notice in the sunshine and sunrise, the rest of the day you notice the shadow move but if that percentage is too high you loose the simulation factor.

A very good option would be select the time of day by hour, ex: 11 pm or 21pm(rFactor have that).

Sorry for my english.

Why limit it like that? If they have a cycle, it's no big deal to allow users to speed up that cycle so that 24 hours passs in 2h 24m (10% of real time), or even passes in just 24 minutes.

GT5 will take the driving game into the horror-genre, imagine racing the Nürburgring at night in the rain from within the interior with windscreen wipers at full speed, almost no visibilty coupled to realistic physics and improved A.I or online opponents with damage making every mistake count, this is the stuff of nightmares....:nervous:

Can't wait........:)

So it looks like only some tracks will have a night feature. Premium tracks ;)

Sure,it no bog deal...but it would be a "huge deal" do it with 1000cars with 400k poligons,80tracks,.......HD graphic(1080p),new online system with 16cars,new damage system.....wait wait, sorry I did'nt conclude, some people wanna 3D tress, skid mark even light reverse!!it would need the NASA computer to implemente all this feature, maybe the ps6!!!!!!!!!!! :sly:

That wouldn't even be new, the old Le Mans 24 Hours by eutechnyx had such a feature 10 years ago.

IIRC, I could do the 24 hour race in 10 minutes, 24 minutes, 240 minutes (4 hours) and the full 24 hours.

This would be a good way to do it, although I would likely implement some in between steps, like 6o minutes (1 hour), 120 minutes (2 hours), and probably 360 minutes (3 hours).

I feel the 120 minutes option would be tremendous for online races 👍

What has the number of cars and tracks got to do with anything?! All I was saying is IF they have a day/night cycle, it would be no bog deal to have that cycle in real time or over 24 minutes. I didn't say that putting in a day/night cycle in the first place was no bog deal, because clearly it's not trivial.

That's great, but I didn't say it would be new. Several games have had dynamic day/night cycles.

Ok....sorry now it's clear!👍

I knew PD's lighting system could cope with variable lighting, at least in the sense of using the same geometry and setting a "time of day" at load-time - a few one-time pre-computations and you have the new lighting for the environment, including indirect lighting. I'm pretty sure the cars are partially lit by cubemaps, especially in the "photomode" locations...

With a bit more sacrifice, this could be updated in near real-time, i.e. as you race.

Also, regarding the 24hr race, what's wrong with setting a variable time limit (in real terms), or a lap limit, and setting the time compression accordingly? Why have presets when you can have a continuous setting?

After reading the awesome news ( in an awesome day, friday ;) ), I must say: PD excels. Night racing at the Nurburgring, one of the most wanted features to me.

If we'll get day/night cycles is yet to be seen, however, I can't see the point in having a full day/night cycle and then adding a variable to make the time pass faster,. What happened to the simulation? Day night cycles implemented in this way just makes no sense to me.

Then you won't have to worry about using it. It's existed in many games, not just racing games, in order to give a better impression of the true environment, since many people do not play for hours on end. Personally, I can see how it could be useful for private online races...

But, we're all still speculating. :dopey:

Actually, I stole borrowed from another member who stole borrowed from a NeoGAF member. It's not my creation. ;)

Fair point, I won't use it really, only to do the endurances. But I'm satisfied with the night racing option on the Nur, whatever feature that comes as a plus is just adding to the pot.

In that case, why bother have any options at all in the game?! That's the whole point - it would be a variable that you can set to real time if you are doing a proper 24 hour race, but for the mere mortals amongst us, we might want to compress 24 hours into 2h 24m, yet still experience the full cycle. I can say for a fact that I'll never experience a full, real time 24 hour cycle in GT5, or any GT game for that matter!

Edit: I see you responded to Griffith500 already 👍 That's the beauty of having the whole thing dynamic - it should be simple enough to allow people to set the time of day to whatever they want, and have it stay like that or change during the race.

I think putting night racing on a circuit layout designed and/or used for the 24 hour race event would be a little bit silly without having a dynamic day/night cycle. There has to be some point during the race where it gradually changes from light to dark and vice versa.

In my eyes this is confirmation of a day/night cycle. I know that it is not official, but why else would they have the Nurburgring 24 hour layout at night?

For arcade mode and online this is a must! But for GT mode, I feel the full 24 hours with an option to save your progress from the pitlane is better. 24 hour races should be 24 hours, and when playing offline with the ability to pause the game and possibly save the game during pitstops, I don't think 24 hours is too much to ask. I just hope they managed to include the mid-race save feature..
