Anyone know if there's an A spec race we can practice on while earning credits/xp?

I've been using the Tuning challenge as it's 5 laps of Suzuka with relativly decent cars to compete with.

This race today is looking more unlikely as the hours pass by. Such a shame, it really is.:grumpy:

I'm now even doubting next week, such is Sony's ability to not realise what exactly had happened to them. Every time we think we're close they spring another 'didn't realise how bad the situation was' upon us again.

Any one watching the formula 1 qualifying later to pass the time?:
COME ON LEWIS!

Was going to but now we've not got our online races i've decided to get some work done. Time never waits for the self employed!

Wow. 2:04 and 2:05, I'm gonna lose big time is I don't change my car.
I'll go try some unique FRs, but the Corvette and the M3 seem to be the ones to beat.

I couldn't get below 2:08 with any Corvette, same story with the TVR's. A couple of others seem hopeful though ;)

I've found a car quicker than my vette and thats with stock suspension settings, im just tuning it as we speak.:)

Brad, i don't know wether i'm looking forward or fearing racing against you! Luckily i've found a car that can consistantly lap faster than the stalwart CSL - unfortunatly it's a twitchy bugger and will need 100% focus every lap to achieve a good time!

Stupid PSN still down, I see...:banghead:

In case I manage to get myself on the grid, I'll probably grab a Vette. I've liked those things ever since GT3, such beautiful speed and especially handling even when stock.

The track you are testing on is Suzuka, right? If I can get below that 2'08, it'll be a good start already...:sly:

I need to test the tyre wear abit more on the long stints, but it will consistently lap 2:04:xx, this car I've found though requires more concentration than the Vette. :)

Consistent with the 2:05 now (could've won the trophy if I hadn't already)

Do you think we'll ever get this thing started? Mind you, I've already had a lot of fun, plus, if you use practice mode, it turns your UCD over.

I'll be giving the tuner challenge a go, although I don't seem to need the xp any more!

Yeah we'll get it started, according to Sony we may have to wait another 3 weeks but everyone's in the same boat. 3 weeks will soon come and go and then we can finaly put our testing to good use :)

I'm racing the GTR without a wing, there's just too much drag otherwise.

What kind of time you getting Fishy? I was going to try that car then i decided not to.:)

I tried the M3 GTR without a wing and found it spun too easily (same with the CSL), with a wing i'm getting 2:05's. Quite happy with that but i've got another car that's hitting the 2:05's and that's what i've decided i'm going to run. I know it's not quite as fast as some are getting here but it will go against what i think will turn out to be a field of BMW's.

Guys, i'm thinking (whilst we've got downtime) of introducing a couple of new rules, nothing sinister but 1 of them will help spice up the races.

1) the day before the race all entrants must declare what car they intend to race. Once declared it cannot be changed. Main reason behind this is to avoid illegal cars and will give you chance to change before you commit to race day.

2) the same car can only be used a maximum of 3 times throughout the 8 races. On top of this i think we should have at least two theme weeks. Wether that theme is a one make race, a same car race or a one nations cars race is open for suggestion!

I'll probably outbrake myself into the first bend and then it will be all over!

Sounds good, makes it abit fairer. Themed weeks would be ace also.:)

Im down for these rules does give people more of a challenge. I think as far as a theme week goes that it would be fun if we did a classic car theme from the 60's and 70's or just one of those eras.

I second the theme weeks idea.
Also, damn you Sony.
I'll just finish the Black Ops single player + the Portal 2 co-op in the meantime.

Yeah, theme weeks sounds like a great idea. Let's just hope that PSN gets back online soon so that we can get the series underway...

I hope it will be back up tomorow:) If not then that will suck miserably.:nervous:

I'm pretty sure it won't be.

And about only letting the same car racing a max 3 times, a great idea. But since the M3 is dominating, is anyone up for only letting the same car, like the M3 to be banned?
Is it perhaps too much?

Anyway, whenever PSN gets up. I'll be looking forward to the theme weeks. :)

I have to ask, what are you guys doing with your gearboxes?
I'm getting 2:05:6xx without the wing, but then made a but more stable.

The M3 is quite dominant, but by only allowing it to race 3 times means the use of it can be spread strategicaly - use it at the 3 circuits that suit you best. For example, i didn't find it to be quickest at Fuji so i will find another circuit to use it on.

Good point - I think I'll be using mine at Suzuka, after all the practice, probably at the 'Ring too.

I think we're going to be waiting at least another week though before we get this series rolling, it's doing my head in now.

Just did a .56.674 @ Tsukuba with a:
RX-7 efini
400hp
1060kg

My entry might be a bit underpowered. I will most certianly lose the La Sarthe Race...:indiff:

Then change it come Le Mans, that's the beauty of my (newly revised) rules, that you can use any car within the regulations but aren't forced to use it for every race. My new rule is that the same car can only be used for 3 races so you could use the less powered but nimbler cars for twistier circuits and the power-houses for the circuits such as Le Mans. Choose wisely, your strategy will be as important as your driving skills!

My goodness! They havn't even got a SET date for when psn is going to be online?!? They have not updated their blog for 3 days now. I'd at least expect an update today, getting tired of it all.:grumpy: I know some of you are going to say about the may 10th update "at least a few days" but I wana get racing!:)

Could be just my impatients?💡

Let off a little steam now.:yuck:

cheers.

I know exactly what you mean, i'm getting tired of the vague statements they make, stating 'a few days'. As far as i'm concerned a few days is 3, 4 at most. Then we just think we're getting somewhere and yet again they announce it was worse than they thought. The amount of money this must be costing game developers must be huge. I look forward to the day i read in the papers about a group of scrawny virgin teens being handed massive sentances for all this.

I now officially believe that the "just a few days" comments from Sony are total bull$hit. Nothing's coming up until May 31st, I'm afraid.
