They should really stop modeling Hybrids. They have no place in a racing game. Even fully tuned, they are stupid, and barely competitive with anything.

They can make more cars, because they increased the staff and optimized their process.

And GT6 will be released in about 3-4 years. They will bring on PS4 like it or Not. Yama complained about the PS3 Specs already. They can Add everything per DLC or Patch. They dint Need to make GT6 a PS3 Game and they have the Time to do it.
2013-2015 will be the years of the next Generation console. Sony would be Totally stupid to waste 50,000,000-70,000,000 for GT6 on PS3.

They can use the GT5 Engine and save some Time. They just make some improvments.
Dice Claimed already that the Frostbite 2 is "Next Gen ready"

All Engines nowadays are Based on Multi core and massiv Theads structure...

Upscaling will Not work on the PS4. PS2 content on PS4??? That would be a epic fail...
They will use their higher modelled Cars and integrate them in GT6 and some per DLC for GT5. The can Decrease the quality to fit it in to the PS3 Hardware.

A Developer Producer their Content in higher quality than the ps3,360 can handle.... Often :P

Some Things arent possible on ps3 and GT6 Needs huge improvments....

Like up to 64 Cars on track in Good quality for better and realistic Race Series and endurance races.

First game on a console is the OS. Second game is content. Kaz said (read into that what you want) that GT6 would take 2-2.5 years to do as a result.

What GT needs is a different thing for different people. I want good physics, good AI and a very big GT-mode. I literally do not care about anything else in the series at all.

Another person will want solid online. Two more people, two more ideas about what they want.

Do you work for PD? I don't think so, therefore your opinion is just that, as is mine. The only voice that matters is that of Kazunori Yamauchi and only when he says something will any of this matter at all.

My PS3 said Gran Turismo 5 was updated last night? (I have Playstation Plus) Didn't have time to check what's new, so maybe it's that 2.06 patch?

Kazunori Yamauchi is not a god. He's easily replaceable. The industry is full of talented designers with the will, focus and passion to take the GT series far higher than he ever could. With all due respect, this iteration most certainly is a commercial success and both a technical and visual improvement to its predecessor but it's still not half the game GT4 was in terms of sheer fun and ludic depth. In the long run, the only voice that does matter is ours.

GT3 wasn't half the game GT4 was. Same thing happened with GT1 and 2.

Considering all the developing issues and how extensively the game has been updated, I see GT5 as the beta version of GT6, which will reclaim the title of best racing console game. That is if it is released for the PS3 though, if not it's pretty clear forza5 will consolidate as the very best one.

I agree with you and I'm on the team of those that believe that GT6 will be on PS3.

Maybe it will. Maybe Not... I mentioned something earlier.

But lets ignore that...

- Yamauchi complained about PS3 Specs
- He can Add DLC and Patches
- GT Specs 2 is like GT5.5
- ignore that PD Needs much Time
- ignore that the Engine Was build for Multi cores and massiv Theads Support. They just make some improvments and it should work on PS4.
-....

And ignore that....

- MS will Enter the Next Gen soon (2013-2014)
- Forza 5 will be on Next Gen MS console
- Nintendo enters the Next Gen 2012. They could make better Racing Games on that Plattform. I'm not Talking about graphics. I'm Talking about physics,...
- Sony Must Enter the next Gen with MS or they will lose much Fans again....
-...

Lets Look at Sony.

Exclusiv Titels are Used to sell consoles. GT is a Great and huge Franchise for them. Bigger than Uncharted, inFamous, Killzone,...

It is One of the titles that sell many copies...
It is One of the Franchise that can compete with Halo, Gears, Mario in Terms of Sells. The other Franchise are Great but dont sell that well.

They Invested about 50,000,000-73,000,000 in the Development of GT5. Finally it worked. They have some High detailed Cars and a Engine that should work on PS4 and should Provide Next Gen Quality... With some improvments.

Now they have their huge Racing Franchise Out and some bought the console, because they want to Play that awesome Franchise.

Sony suffers a Little on the Financial Site and writes red numbers

The questions is does is make Sense to make a GT6 on PS3?

No. Other Franchise have a Second or third Game and it Makes Sense, because the Fans want it and the Gameplay, Story go Forward.

Racing Games are a different Thing.

They could do it like Turn10 and gain more Money, because the Game Sells well. But Turn10 Invested that Money Good. Of course they make it to achieve a huge win in Terms of Money.

But if they do it like Turn10 they will Face some Problems... For example

1. How can they make Hundreds of Premium Cars? The Team is smaller etc. So they cant
I'm Talking about 300+ Cars and some Tracks

2. We are @ the end of this generation and if Sony Wants to Release GT6 2012-2013 on PS3 they will have probs to gain autention. The eyes are on Next Gen and the opponents could "attack" with a announcement of a next Gen SIM.

3. If they Release GT6 on PS3 and use GT7 as a ps4 Game the Cycle will be to Old again. This would be 2017 and the Forza Franchise would be more established and some Consumer will Not buy a PS4, because they prefer Forza now.
GT7 would Fight with Forza 6-7 and other Sims Project Cars Franchise for example. And believe me pCARS could have a huge Impact :) Will be Out on U, PS3, 360, PC.

4. GT6 on PS3 would Not be a console seller anymore. Some Look at the next Gen already and the others have a ps3, because they like GT5. Doesnt make sense for Sony

5. At the Moment Sony Makes 2x Money for a Content created by the Talentes PD girls and guys. All DLC will be included in GT6 and who bought the dlc and GT6 in the future? We will do it. Sony can make more Money.

6. If Sony release GT6 on PS3. They wouldn't have Time to make Money with a Prologue or whatever :P

They should Release GT6 as a PS4 Release Game and work in GT7 for the mid-end of the PS4 Cycle.
GT6 on PS4 would be a huge sucess, because more people would buy a ps4 and the others Franchise would Not be that established

---> GT6 on PS3 doesnt make Sense.... For Sony and PD.

Just my 2 Cents :P
Sry for my english :)

The racing genre changed quite a lot since 2005. It caught up with other videogames and now it's all about man power to make more content and keep releasing the next iteration constantly. Sales don't come from a single game but rather from at least 3 different versions being released every year or 2.

With that said, the best scenario for them is to release GT6 for the PS3 because in the end it means making more money. There's no need to hold the game until it is perfected because that's not how the industry works now, in which you buy the better and upgraded version as a separate game that comes a year or so after (PES1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 2007, 2008, etc. Forza 1, 2, 3, 4) , and in the mean time there's DLC.

and the GT series doesn't compete with PC sims. That's a whole different market with a lot less sells, fewer and smaller companies, and that quite frankly it's a niche for competitive players trying to experience the real thing, which is the difference between a simulator (competitive) and a game (having fun playing with a controller from the couch).

edit: I think PD already knows that with their current scheme they can't keep up with its competition (turn10, EA, codemasters) content wise, so they'll probably do what they've been doing for years which is outsourcing.

And btw the same game engine, models (tracks and cars) and everything else can be reused if the full version is good enough. For example, everything you see on a console is lower polygon count and res than what companies already have. It's just progressing by adding more and different content, improving the menus, tweaking current cars, adding more game modes, outputting with a higher resolution and filters, including the better quality versions of cars and tracks, and so on. That's what every single company on the industry does; people just don't notice it (did you know that all call of duty games use a tweaked version of the quake3 engine?)

I dont think so. As i Said we are at the end of the console Cycle. GT6 on PS3 would compete with Forza 5 on next Xbox. Thats unfair.
Sony should do GT6-7 on PS4 to compete with Forza, etc. From the beginning. They already making Money with DLC, because as you Said they Create their Content in higher quality that means you buy the Car twice... As a DLC for GT5 and for GT6. And they can make more Money with DLC. A Car Cost about 1€. That means 1,000 Cars would cost alot more As GT6 for 50€.

They have not much work, because they created the Content in GT5 for GT6 already as you Said.

And Sony can make a GT6 Prologue on PS4. And sell more PS4, because the GT is their best or One of the best selling franchises.
simple GT is a System seller. And New console Need a Good Start for Several reasons.

Agree. But the console will have more to offer and more companies want to Enter the console market.
MS did it with Forza and SMS will do it with a SIM called pCARS.

They do ist actually. Prologue as a reminder. They Release GT Versions in a 2-3 Year Cycle.

Thats True. The Content is created in higher quality than the current console can handle.

We will See :)

You know what should be mandatory? Licenses. I miss having to complete a certain license to do certain things, like reaching ia license to go online, or S license to do special events.

Never thought of that, but that would be really awesome if you were required to go online. Or maybe have different levels online for each license level?

License tests = :)

I hate the level system. The A-spec races should have been based on License level like it did in previous installments. It gives GT Mode a sense of progression, which it has recently lost, though (among other qualities).

Yes... level system sucks. Licenses FTW!

They should require IC license to drive supercars and base racing cars, IB and IA for more powerful racing cars and S for LM racers & F1!

You can probably say that GT should incorporate something like what Tourist Trophy has in letting you race certain machines. Like you can't go with the fastest machines without the highest license. And for the one who mentioned getting rid of hybrids, it would be good to get rid of hybrid cars. However, I've always been under the impression that regardless of whatever cars we like, there's importance in featuring certain cars in a game. Gran Turismo has always been about a world of cars and a world of many types of cars. Even PD went ahead with the Toyota Prius race car.

I still play GT5 thinking about what I would change or consider for a future GT. Someone mentioned GT5 being more like a "tune up" for GT6, and I tend to agree with that on a certain level. Someone who looks at GT5 with interest in making GT6 mind-blowing really knows what the bloody heck he/she is thinking and talking about. I even take concepts from GT5 and think about how to make Gran Turismo better. I think about things and blog about them. For one thing, I have been thinking a lot about the B-Spec model for GT5 as opposed to GT4. I even think about things from the Shift games as well as... dare I say- Forza Motorsport series. I'm a GT fan and want nothing more than the greatest racing (let alone Gran Turismo) experience I've ever had.

Let me tell you something I WILL discuss here. One thing that I think really needs to change is a better motorsports-influenced impact. I've come full circle in thinking that you can still be about the cars and everything. Gran Turismo, though, is a racing game at the very core. When the RACING aspect of a racing game falls flat, you have a certain disconnect and many holes to fill. I don't have the questions or answers, but I hope it's something PD can work on to add extra depth and enhance the motorsports impact. It doesn't have to be the next ToCA or the next Shift to enhance the motorsports aspect of Gran Turismo, but I want to see something different and more engaging for GT6 (or the next GT).

I don't think it would be wise to only allow people online if they passed certain tests but I would like an option for the open lobby whereby you yourself can limit it to players who passed certain license tests (in the same way you can set other regulations).

Not as a guarantee for fair racing or good skills but to know they've at least made an effort and didn't just jump straight in without knowing anything or being able to drive at all.

The current level-system is mostly useless for this purpose (apart from indicating an effort has been made to progress in the game), whilst it'll make the license tests much more relevant and meaningful yet still voluntary.
Again, as a rough filter which isn't foolproof but better than nothing at all.

Well... It looks like EA's bullying tactics are over, bring on the 911s!!! :dopey:

EDIT: A quick Google search found no english websites with this "news"....

That's certainly encouraging!

Presumably PD wouldn't have a catalogue of Porsche cars ready if the exclusivity deal had ended though.
