God bless, a new page!

Hope it'll be filled with discussion about what is and will be happening to GT... not one more game vs. game debate.

last OT :nervous: have to say my peace

Yea, my bad. I was clearly provoked and I had to go in for the kill. I've gone so long not contributing to those things, a relapse was inevitable with how raw with their opinions some people have been lately. My spree ends now.

Just a query: why o why did they omit the Seattle track? The best track in the entire series. And New York? GT5s new tracks are BORING. And bring back the old Rome circuit, its replacement sucks.
Ah of course its the norm to release half finished games these days and update them with DLC. This is almost excusable in a game that took only a few months to a year to make.
But 6 YEARS?!!!??? PD, you give a whole new meaning to the word 'lazy'.

So updating a project consistently for one and a half years after the release is lazy. Sure, they had plenty of time to complete it in the first place and made some odd decisions, but plenty of things could have came up in the mean time.

Besides, 6 years? Where the hell did you get that number? Did you just "forget" about the time and effort they put toward GT:HD (though abandoned), GT5:P and GTPSP?

I miss Seatle, New York and Rome too, but i'm pretty sure they'll be brought back eventually (even if that means GT6). What annoys me more is clicking a link thinking some new information has just broke ground only to find a completely off topic post that simply slanders a company I have a lot of respect for.

Rant over, I'm off to enjoy my favourite game...

On this genre only minor things are lost from game to game, such as menus. Cars, tracks, textures, physics, etc. remain the same and are re used from game to game (releasing the best versions the console can handle) with some improvements. Also those have to be constantly developed since it takes lots of time to create and to modify.

It doesn't have to do with the amount of games released or if the company started in the early 90s (check that 360 racing game series for example). What matters is how constant the company is, while also making substantial updates to their "core" when necessary.

Where I want to go with this is that PD didn't put enough effort between GT4 and GT5, a time in which making those substantial updates was mandatory, or in other terms making the whole game from scratch.
That's why the series went from being the most notorious in the racing genre to being just secondary, and its competition simply took its place. 6 years can't be compensated in only one and a half.

Who knows the actual reasons though. Only thing I can guess is that they were stubborn and didn't outsource car and track modeling, therefore wasting years in making 200 cars and 30 tracks by their own.
Also I'm not particularly satisfied with GT5's DLC and PD's work in general in comparison to how other companies are progressing. "That other game" will reach 100 premium cars in 8 months of DLC, half of what GT5 had when it was released and it took PD 6 years to do that. Also at the same time they are making a whole new game (horizon), which will be their sixth release in 8 years, and making exclusive content for the seventh.

edit: btw there are 107 tracks missing from previous GT games, as shown here.

Not including the hidden and possible tracks there are "only" 93 missing. GT5 has about 30 without DLC.

GT:HD and GT5:P WERE GT5, for all intents and purposes. They were working towards the same goal of what was eventually GT5, they weren't separate projects which took their time away from GT5.

Well there was quite a bit of stuff in GT5:P that was unique to that game like the leaderboards, events and some of the cars that are not in GT5. Which is why I consider it to be a different game to GT5, albeit very slightly. None of the events in Prologue (including the manufacturer events) are really ported over to GT5.

Right but to say GT5 didn't take 6 years because they spent time on GT:HD and GT5:P is quite preposterous. It was all working towards the same goal, the same final product. It's not like they started on GT:HD, scrapped it, started on GT5 from scratched, paused development to build GT5:P then start on GT5 again. It was all one process.

Not really true. They count all variations as new tracks in that thread. That makes GT5 have about 70 (iirc). Also on that list are redesigns, like grand valley, autumn ring, SSR5, deep forest, eiger, trial mountain. Every coffe break from GT4 is on that list (not really fair to call them all tracks).

Especially when you consider how **** the new city tracks are.

Why doesn't PD spend more time on real tracks rather than city / original tracks?

GT had 11 Tracks
GT2 had 21 tracks of which 12 were new and 9 came from GT
GT3 had 14 tracks of which 5 were new, 5 came from GT2 and 4 from GT
GT4 had 40 tracks of which 24 were new, 3 came from GT3, 4 came from GT2 and 9 came from GT
GT5 has 45 tracks of which 27 are new (Including DLC), 8 came from GT4, 3 from GT3, 1 from GT2 and 9 from GT

This does not include rally tracks, Drag strips or reverse versions but does count the GT/GT2 version of the Test Track as different to the GT3/GT4 version.

The optimum mix would have 80 tracks. 11 from GT, 12 from GT2, 5 from GT3, 24 from GT4 and the rest are already in GT5.

This is nowhere near 107 and shows that GT5 has a lot more tracks than people give it credit for.

I like those city tracks as much as i like real tracks.

I cant wait to see what the next DLC is. Hurry Up P.D. !

To each their own. I highly doubt they were being lazy, an appropriate word may be compromise.

What about GTPSP?

Good point. I bet GTPSP was a very hard one to develop because its was a completely new platform, and being a handheld, adapting everything for the lower spec hardware can be a pain... Just remember that those awesome guys at PD put 800+ cars, a lot of tracks, Nordschleife included on a handheld device. At that time. It had adhoc multiplayer and it worked at 60fps.

That's one epic achievement. And I bet that took a lot of time from GT5 development.

Sony demands, they have to do it. If they request a GT Vita now, GT6 will get delayed...

I miss El Capitan from GT4... that was my favorite.

Me too... my favorite on GT4. Miss Seattle a lot too. A cruise/cop lobby on Seattle would be epic.

more of the new nsx

That's better! News!

Along with the new minute and a half at the start, the car now has a Honda badge, theres plently of new footage and the video has the usual PD closing credits. Good find mate 👍

Original video...

Call me creazy but the car in the new part is real or not GT5 engine...

Other then the minute and a half of footage (Which doesn't appear to be GT5 material), Old news.

The new part is the news...

The new part is the news...

Thing is, I'm not sure its GT5 footage. I think thats real footage.

The Honda badge is the news... at least, better than NO news at all :(

Sad days...
