Jeff Wincott is apparently going to be the voice, behind "Casey".

I don't know, if it's already known, but Shawn Fonteno, will, probably, be the voice behind Franklin.

Speaking of maps, does anyone know how many square miles or kilometers GTA San Andreas' and GTA IV's map is? Gonna do some quick measurements. :sly:

Nope, but I'm sure some nutter over at gtaforums will give it to you to the nearest 0.1 square km.

Don't forget, the map in that link is a fan made one based on the screenshots that have been released to date, and they admit that the scale of stuff in the distance may be out.

Nah, I wasn't gonna bother with the fan made maps. I was going to take GTA IV's map size (in square miles) and multiply it by 4 or 5 (since I believe Rockstar said GTA V's map will be 4-5 times bigger than IV's) and then compare the result to GTA San Andreas' and Just Cause 2's map size (in square miles again) to see which is bigger and by how much. As of now, I remember reading that Just Cause 2's map is 400 square miles (?) so I just need IV's and SA's.
So, I'll probably do as you said and ask over at GTA Forums.

GTA V would win anyway but it'd still be fun for me to compare just to see the jump from SA to IV to V. 👍

This and the last of us are the only two games I'm looking forward to. Just wish I had something to play in the mean time.

Here you go ;);
Here are the map sizes for previous GTA games:
GTA III (and LCS) - 3 sq. miles
GTA Vice City (and VCS) - 3.5 sq. miles
GTA San Andreas - 13.6 sq. miles
GTA IV - 6.8 sq. miles
I think, and hope that answers your question :D.

Thanks! :) 👍
Ok, so here's what I've come up with (GTA San Andreas' and IV's map size come from the above info assuming it's true) :

GTA San Andreas - 13.6 Square Miles
GTA IV - 6.8 Square Miles
Just Cause 2 - 400 Square Miles

GTA V if 4 times bigger than GTA IV - 27.2 Square Miles
GTA V if 5 times bigger than GTA IV - 34 Square Miles

------------------

But wait, I'm starting to feel as though those stat's are wrong because, according to GameSpot, the Just Cause 2 demo alone is 35 square miles. Plus, another guy on GameSpot forums told me that GTA San Andreas is ~18 Square Miles. :odd:
I'll look around some more but thanks anyway Dean.

I wasn't sure about if, the numbers I posted, was correct, too. I believe it's hard to find the correct value. The only possible way to get the correct numbers, must be by contacting Rockstar...

You forgot to add Red Dead Redemption into the equation. IMO, Just Cause 2 was a bit too big. Took forever even to fly a plane anywhere.

With Red Dead in there the average I've found from Google is about 30 square miles for GTA V including interior spaces. So they were correct saying it's 5 times bigger.

I always thought this was a great map layout to get the perspective of map sizes. Maybe it will help you with the layout for GTA4 and GTA5?
I believe TDU2 is close to 1,000 sq miles since it is Ibiza and Oahu all in one game. So I added it to this map.

TDU 2's map felt really small to me... Though 1000 mi^2 is a lot. (15000 is even more impressive, in Nightfall.) I think hope V'll be bigger, than 1000 mi^2, but how much, is a hard thing to know.

You start on Ibiza which is the small island. Eventually you are able to fly to Oahu. Then once you end up on Oahu its another massive island. And you can explore everything on both maps on and offroad. TDU2 is far from small. You want small go check out Forza Horizon. Its only 63 sq miles compared to TDU2 1,000 sq miles.

I know about going to Hawai'i :D. TDU2 might just be bigger than I recall :boggled:.

I looked up Oahu and Ibiza, on Wikipedia, to get their real area size;
596.7 (Real life Oahu) + 220.7 (Real life Ibiza) = 817.4 mi^2. 1000 mi^2 wasn't far off ! Of course, these numbers aren't (probably) the correct numbers of TDU 2.

It's small like Oahu because a huge portion of both islands is wasted off-road/jungle area that the majority of TDU players will never bother exploring.

hehehe.

No mention of Space Engine in that sq miles thing.

I like the size, I like the idea of having to do the driving to get somewhere, and I never ever took advantage of the trip skip feature in IV unless I wanted to get back to the start of the damn mission for the 15th time or whatever.......

:irked:👍

You think V will be more than 1000 sq. miles? Didn't Rockstar say it will be 5 times the size of IV? That puts it at 35 sq. miles. 1000 would be 142 times the size of IV

Personally I don't give a damn how many square miles it is, it's rather irrelevant if many of those miles are devoid of anything interesting as was the case with a lot of San Andreas. It's that phrase again but quality over quantity still stands, although I guess it's rather quality over size in this case. I don't want to see a landscape huge for the sake of it.

The size Rockstar quoted was a combination of vertical and horizontal gameplay. When they say its 5 times the size of GTA4, that doesn't mean the horizontal visible map layout. They are talking about horizontal and vertical gameplay meaning all the areas you can travel inside buildings. Usually in GTA games there are only a few buildings here and there that you can actually enter. GTA5 is going to have a lot more buildings you can enter.

I would dissagree, for San Andreas gave me plenty of empty places to assassinate girlfriiends that were no longer of importance to the story or me(or anyone else that I could get rid of). That just my opinion though.

I liked the fact there was so much openness in San Andreas, I loved driving around in the wilderness.

Same here. That why I loved about San Andreas, the large vast map with three cities and surrounding countrysides. I have hundreds of places just to drive around to enjoy and to start chaos and mayhem to the State of SA.
