Does anyone know if the guys over at Polyphony Digital are going to include Formula 1 cars in GT4? I haven't found this information yet and was wondering if any of you guys have heard anything about Formula 1 cars.

do you mean the polyphony's form GT3? or proper FIA ones? Either way I hope you aren't allowed to enter them in as many races as in GT3, that just makes the game too easy.

F1 type cars are back, exactley whic ones and how many are unknown at this point.

They are not gonna be in GT4. From what I seen and heard, the LMP cars are gonna be over the F1 cars for this one.

if we got the FIA ones, the only ones to be avaible to the GT license is the Mercedes, Honda, Jordan and BMW williams cars.

There was an f1 car at a GT4 demo where montoya raced the F094/s (Polyphony 001). Can't find the picture on the net though..

I certainly agree. I enjoyed having them in the game, but I'd like to limit them to time trials ans racing other F1 cars only.

PD did say a year ago that FI "style" cars would return. If this was before or after Sony secured the rights to F1, I don't know.

If it was after, then it's safe to say they'll return. But, if it was before... This could be the end for F1 cars in a GT game, for a while.

You, I find it disturbing that you would limit the freedom of the game.

You know if you don't want to use the F1 cars just don't. You don't have to make other people suffer.

Perhaps you feel that everyone should have to work as hard as everyone else. Even if other people simply don't have the time.

Ya know... If I get to 100% and for some strange reason my save was lost. I'd wanna get through with the least amount of effort to make up the lost ground. Think.

Excuse me if this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's late and I cannot bother to check.

Eh?! Sony has the F1 rights... PD is part of Sony...

Hmmm... methinks you have your wires crossed somewhere?!

I'd prefer other cars to F1 cars, not like theres a shortage of F1 games & many of the GT tracks are too small for F1 cars.

I only got an F1 car in GT3 when I got to about 85% which is where I still am, because I got bored. (Unlike in GT1 + 2, roll on GT4) :)

Isn't there a magazine article somewhere that quotes KY as saying all cars that appreared in previous GT games will be in GT4? If so, all the F1 cars will return, although I hope that the Euro version of GT4 won't be stuck with 2 F1 cars this time.

F1 cars a useless. I can understand if they are limited to one championship, and one championship only.

Your perspective and opinion on this matter is certainly just as valid as my opinion was, but you said "Yeah, I bet you would", which insinuates some sort of insult to me personally, as if "We expect comments like that from YOUR type". Now obviously that's not the exact words you said, but that's how it comes across to me. I find THAT much more disturbing than the inclusion or limitation of a F1 car in a game. 👎

Are you? Oh I'm sorry to hear that my friend. You should work at it like the rest of us.

Actually, Sony could use any of them, including Ferrari's. Sony own the official FIA Formula 1 license which means everything Formula 1 is Sony's to use. However I don't think we'll see currentreal F1 cars in GT4 simply because Sony will want to milk that license and produce one or two official F1 games before the licese goes to the next company that bids high enough.

There hasn't been a new F1 game in like 2 years...When exactly do they plan on "milking their license"?

Same with EA and they street Ferrari license.

You obviously missed Formula 1 2003, and Formula 1 2004 is set to launch in a few weeks from what I've gathered from GTP members - I'd say that's safely in time to milk a license before giving us current F1 cars in GT4.

beefcake's just having a late night and needs some sleep.

Uh, do you mean, are the cars in GT3 real or will the cars in GT4 be real?
He means if the cars will carry the F1 Liveries. The answer is-no. Since the rights belong exclusively to EA Sports. (For the sponsoring anyways)

The other cars weren't made up anyways, they were modelled after the real cars, and you could use the name of the cars to figure out which one was which.

I don't remember all but...

M=Mansell
H=Hill
S=Senna

The format was Fo(Formula One) 94(year of the car) /S(First letter of driver's last name.

So the Fo94/S was the Williams' 1994 car, which was the one Senna used for 3 races before his crash at Imola... :(

If GT4 doesn't have F1 cars, I'm afraid GT3 will still be getting more use. Now I'm not saying they are the only cars that are fun, but not being able to let out on the sunday cup in a Formula One car will be a big let down for me, challenge just gets too stressful sometimes.
