F1 cars in GT4

Live4Speed,

You are answering one example, but you are not addressing the main point. Forget about the examples. The point is: Why should I be limited in how I want to play, just because some other people want themselves restricted.

The short version being:

Why can't you restrict yourself, and leave me alone???

Because in GT3 you could never use the GT-One and have an even race unless you entered into a F1 race in which case you were forced to do 30+ laps. I get what your saying, I think there should be competitions with restrictions, and competitions without. Best of both worlds but in GT3 you can't restrict yourself if you want a fair race in a high powered car, you just thrash everything but thats down more to AI, but I still preferred the Bhp limits in GT2 than nothing.

Well said Live4speed, the limits would add to the challenge of the game. And to Effo: if you are playing the game to get throught it quickly or other reasons to use the f1 cars mercilessly, aren't you missing the whole point of the game? However I do think F1 cars should be included in some in the game albeit with appropriate restrictions.

It would be even better if we could turn limits on and off. That way, if your lazy like me, you can use a 787B against some odd Corvette or something. :)

By turning it on or off, the people against this could turn it off, the people who want a challenge could turn it on.

Thats actually a good idea, maybe after completing a certain percentage of the game or something like that.

Exactly, say you beat the game the first time in off mode. Then you decide you want a challenge and you want to do the game as competitively as possible, there you go, turn the option on and your off to the races.

If only Polypony Digital could implement that somehow.

Although that is a great idea it probably would't make it into production.
Edit- Here's an idea that would solve most if not all problems: Only have F1 cars availaible to be won in later stages of the game for use in the hardest races. In Gt3 a F1 car can be ones 3rd or fourth car.

Iceman,

I think you need to read my previous posts. I do not use F1 cars to beat the game. I win the races the right way, and in fact I make it harder on myself to win. For example, by not taking shortcuts, or doing stupid things like bashing my way around a wall, or not doing a certain tune up, or whatever.

I just think that if I want to take some time out to do something for a quick fix, then I should be able to do it.

I fully expect the right to put an F1 car on a Sunday race, and force myself to go 8 laps in the wrong way, before turning around and still trying to win the race. See, now thats just FUN. Again, I am not doing it to cheat, or win the easy way or defeat the game. It is a lot of fun.

I don't understand why if the game doesn't limit HP, then the user can't do either? If you want to keep it under 590Hp, then keep it under 590Hp, you don't need a machine to do it for you.

I still don't understand why you have to let the game limit everything, why can't you do it yourself?

Herro, Your comments about stressfull and Sunday Cup were in the one sentence seperated by a comer. If you were not saying the Sunday cup was stressfull you should have ended that sentence with a full stop and started a new sentence about how stressfull the game can be. Because of your punctuation I got the wrong message. Sorry for the English lesson.

Maybe this is a generalisation but I think the views shown indicate that the inexperienced drivers use the F1's and think it is fair, while the experienced drivers only want to use them for a fair race. Even the AI in the F1 races are easy to beat for me. I have played GT games just about every day for the last 6 years and have golded every license test in GT1, GT2 & GT3 and have completed all three 100% several times over. This may give an indication to the newer players how experienced some people here are and sometimes know a bit more about the GT games than the newer players do.
Who knows what Japanese car in GT3 comes standard with a 4 speed manual transmission?

Effo_Nienforr_S
ummm, inexeperienced??? i hope your not talking to me, unless 100% complete only counts on the third time around...

I was not judging anybody. I was generalising.

When you get all gold on the license tests I will congratulate you for your fine achievment.

I said it somewhere else, as it is, there are no "options" in GT with respect to the core game itself. Everyone wins the same races against (within reason) the same opponents. That's why there won't be any choices to do with limits, weather or anything else - so everyone essentially completes the same game. They have the freedom to complete it however they wish within the bounds the game sets, but the player itself determines nothing but the car and the skill.

The short answer being:

Why are you crying over someone's OPINION ? Nobody as subjecting you to catastrophic indignities that border on the inhumane. I don't think the makers of GT4 are going to log on here and say, "OOps! We screwed up guys! Lethalchem said he'd like to see some F1 restrictions. Back to the drawing boards boys!!" Relax man.....

Iceman,

I just think that if I want to take some time out to do something for a quick fix, then I should be able to do it.

Isn't that what Arcade mode is for? Run the F1 against whatever you want in Arcade mode.

I have also golded all the GT`s including Concept and Prologue.Im a GTP member 1.div.
I really hope, no, I demand F1 cars in GT4.
Unfortunately the European Gt3 only had the Polyphony 001, and 002.Each in six different livery/helmet-colors , the latter with turbo.I still loved to race them-in the Bonus Formula championship. The Laguna Seca race with 33 laps, was the best GT3 could offer, and very hard if you tried with a 002.The Monaco race was so fun, I remember I drove It two successive races, and my pad broke down, pitted for a new, came third( didnt pause). This level of driving must be retained in the 4!
And what about the rumoured Lotus 49 mentioned in earlier threads? I would die to drive that on the Nurb, sweating in my palms and not knowing if im gonna win.Maybe Lauda will win- or you folks...ONLINE!!Now that would be fan-tastic.. :) I`d whip yer butts!!Thats for shure.

And I just wondered, was it the Mines R34, that only had four gears in gt3?

...Interesting defence... Why are you bothering to respond to his then? Why are any of us? Because we do care and we're making a choice to do so. You come off like you're trying to defend something you don't honestly think is worth defending... Even if that's not the case, there are people who think they will make a difference, there are people calling for petitions to ban concept cars and include Ferraris and such things.

Sure, we're all just trading opinions. And all most of us are doing is trying to make those with a different opinion look on the topic in a new light, and perhaps change that opinion. That's what arguements are all about. So stick to dealing with the actual ideas and issues that get raised.

F1 cars today aren't technically GT cars anymore, but back in the 50's they could easily be consider as such, and given the historical push of GT4 it's hard to look past the most historically significant motor racing series of all time.

IMO, throw as many cars and different kinds of cars in the game as possible, throw as many tracks and different kinds of tracks in the game as possible, and throw as many features in the game as possible, then let the end user decide what parts s/he wants to play with

GT is living up to its name so far, "The Real Driving Simulator"

Gran Turismo is no longer just a GT Sim, its an all around Driving sim, and therefore should not be limited to one form of Driving

but my Opinion may be in the minority

Your opinion of more cars, more tracks, more features is definitely not in the minority if you ask me!! I think everyone wants more of everything...

I think what the real worry is that including some cars like F1's will take away from having some of the real GT cars due to size/time constraints.

Personally I liked the F1's in GT3 and they taught me a lot about suspension settings in comparison to the other cars... (Especially toe in/toe out Camber angles!)

well from my POV, the PD staff just had to grab the models from GT3, up the detail a bit, then they're done, maybe a day or 2 per model, now that isn't stealing much time from other Models, as for size, even if they have a 2 Disc setup like in GT2, i will still love it

i love the F1s, but i'll be honest, they're the least used in my garage, they got boring after a while, but its still nice to know i can still go make a quick run with one if i wanted to

Your opinion seems good to me :).

I third it.

I love the GT aspect of the games but it's also GREAT to drive a car built for nothing but performance on the track. It would be great if they could get some licencing for REAL F1 cars but somehow I doubt it.

They can, Sony owns the FIA F1 license for a few seasons, they managed to get it off EA. However no current F1 cars will appear in GT4, Sony will want to milk the license and make the most of a official F1 game or two.
