Looks like you’ve had a few good replies so no need for any input from my med induced cloud of a brain!@Aero,
Glad that you’re doing better, I know we all miss you.
I have a favor to ask. Could you look at my crude drawing and let me know if the part circled in blue is correct
Jeez that’s still such a long time to wait Jeff, I have my fingers crossed for you that it all works out. Suffering for that amount of time is brutal, I too used to have a lot of back pain but diagnosed what was causing it and got it fixed, but never had complete relief until I had been back at the gym for about 6 months. As for me racing, I'm still on the sidelines for a while. Sitting on the couch now - pillows behind my back, pillows under my legs on the ottoman, and taking several pain meds. Surgery is hopefully going to be my saving grace. Surgery IS going to happen eventually, but I need an EMG first. That's still three weeks away, and followup appointment with my surgeon another week after that. I've been very selective with my Doctors (neurosurgeon, neurologist, physiatrist, pain mgt.) Being fussy is taking it's toll on me as far as time is concerned. But I also feel having my spine cut into deserves some diligence. So it's going to be a couple more months at least. Thank God for medical and disability insurances.
I sure am glad I don’t have to deal with medical insurance the way you guys have to. I don’t have to worry about any of my approximately 10 week hospital stay and all that they have done and will do. My auto insurance kicks in for the rest and it’s pretty amazing what they cover just at the start. I automatically get $65,000 to cover incidentals like air cast, special wheelchair and rehab when it finally gets underway. If it looks like more will be needed then, because of my injuries they will reclassify it as catastrophic and the limit goes to 1 million. I will also get paid weekly, 65% of my weekly earnings up to $400 max per week. Being self imployed made this part a little trickier but they paid my accountant to get everything ready as well. I am also thankful now that when I did some refinancing a few years ago with my mortgage, that I signed up for coverage if I got injured. It was a super cheap add on but now the bank will pay my mortgage for up to two years!
And of course I have no option but to sue the little ****** that did this to me. With the severity of my injuries and the fact that I will likely not be able to perform my job the same, I think the outcome will be quite good.
Was fun to hear all your ramblings last night before and during race 1. It kills me to not be able to respond to some of the comments but I was laughing pretty good at some of it. Yes SGETI, I did hear some of your quiet comments in the background lol. I will look into some of the things that Mcinnis has suggested to me and see if I can’t join in just to chat with you all one night. I am missing the racing something fierce now and it is so hard to watch. My nurse watched some of it with me last night and thought it was very cool, no audio though!
Mcinnis has been doing the scoring in the background and I will start posting this again and doing what I can from the hospital bed. It has been hard to concentrate but I’ve gotten used to the meds now and have started using my laptop again. A big thanks to Shaun for doing this for us.
Sorry for the long post but not much else to do at the moment. Hope to talk to you all soon!
