Can I suggest an alternative start procedure...?

Why? Last night with the start of Race 3 and the same with the previous week's start of Race 3 there were drivers blasting through at speed before the green was called.

To prevent this we can do a formation lap and on the start finish straight we go single file on the racing line and your are not allowed to go faster than 75mph / 120 km/h until you hit the finish line (or engage the pitlane limiter if need be). Then you can accelerate. Part of the problem is the eager guys at the back who wants to make up as many places as possible in the first corner. The whole idea of this reverse grid is for the faster guys to make their way skillfully through slower traffic and not elbow your way through the first few corners. This will prevent bundling up in the first corner at least.

If it is a longer track then you can use the time stamp line of sector 1 or 2 or 3 to achieve the same.

also:
I was taken out at least 3 times last night by drivers who I thought had more skill. I didn't have the best set up, so I wasn't even mid pack fast last night. But you can be sure, if you are behind me, I'm not pulling over (unless being lapped...) If I'm in front and you don't have overlap going into a corner - don't try to be Daniel Ricciardo and do the dive - we will make contact.

Would it work better at this point to have two 'classes' rather than divisions? You already have that for the start with A and B groups and I think it works great. With two classes, all still race together, but one group is technically racing the other, just like the pro series only we're not in separate cars - although we could do that once a month or so as well and truly have a GT3/Cayman night. Therefore Mike would have been the Group B winner last week. I like that idea because then we don't have to say 'goodbye' to certain people and still get to enjoy racing together, it keeps the challenge of being on the track with other classes as well as keeping the numbers up. Besides being fun guys to have around we can also learn from the faster guys as opposed to being in separate rooms.
I could be wrong, but if memory serves me correctly, Gt3 and Lmp classes have been the most destructive. The historic cars have been most forgiving, slower cars in general seem to cause less destruction.

There's my bear!

Please continue with feedback and idea's, it is appreciated. There are pros and cons of going to two divisions, but right now I can tell you both Mike and I are leaning that way.
I think the main reason we have problems in the first couple of laps is because of the speed disparity between the slowest and fastest guys, and the fact that the slower guys are usually at the front at the starts. We certainly have tried a few different things in the past but it seems that once the race is on nothing seems to change. With divisions of more equal skills, I don't believe this will be as much a problem, but more patience is definitely in order no matter the class.

Mike and I spoke about this at lunch and here are some of our thoughts right now:
My biggest con would be not being on track with some of my faster racing buddies, and the chance of the extra special glory of beating them once in awhile, (you know who you are ;) :D), but most of the time they are gone in the distance so I don't get to race with them anyways.
We are also getting back to like it was at the end of PCars1, with full rooms and some not being able to get in. Two divisions would cure that.
With two divisions we would do away with the rankings and go back to qualifying for race 1 and then reverse grid for races 2&3.
Mike suggested that at the end of each week, the winner from Div2 would go to Div1, and last place from Div1 would go to Div2.
Another con is we would have to find someone to host and someone to scorekeep whichever room I wasn't in.

Anyways, we will mull this over for a couple more day's, so again, please keep your thoughts/suggestions coming, thanks.

Who ever fixed my car for the third race, Thank you. That Porsche handled like a dream in race 3 and was a nightmare for the first and second race. Bug? who knows. I did not change anything to the setup between race 2 and 3. ???

Last night saw it's share of bugs, glitches, and some bumper banging. I took myself out numerous times and on more than one occasion I was given some love taps and around I went. I only ask if you make contact and your actions cause a driver to spinout , wait. Wait and give back the position. I do not and have never thought anyone would intentionally wreck another driver.

In race 1 , we have two groups which start at different times. Maybe we could try two groups for the same gap or larger gap for race 2 and 3. The starting delay could be tied to the first race finishing order. Take first place time, example = 2:00. Then take the first person from the beginning group finishing time, example 2:40. That difference :40 , would now be the delay start time for race 2. In theory the last few laps we should all be racing together.

That "devil course" made me think all night long. New respect for the track. Look forward to next week.

First....thanks for the nice words guys. My wife would laugh her ass off seeing some of these comments about me. She would tell you all to come over and watch me or listen to me while the mic is muted. Second.....I somewhat agree with Sgeti. I know I have only been here for two weeks but I have yet to see any incidents in the start of the first race of the night. The incidents I have seen have been in the second or third races and I have been a victim of those both weeks and I completely think what I have saw in front of me is completely avoidable. The length or the races in this league are plenty long enough for fast people to work their way forward. My suggestion would be for the second and third races.... Have a gap like you do in the first race...maybe not as big a gap but definitely a gap. I believe that would let the ones at the back of the lead pack feel more comfortable that they don't have to GO GO GO right now and maybe they can wait a few turns to pass whoever is in front of them...also the ones in the front of the 2nd pack don't have to try and take it 3 wide into the first second or third turns to get by a slower driver. Thats my opinion and I believe it will help get things a little more single file.

I agree: Put the fast guys at the front of the line - they'll be passing us slow guys soon enough as they're lapping us so they'll have some fun traffic to thread their way through within 8-10 laps. They (the fast guys) get a good clean shot at the first corner, and us slow guys can focus on what's in front of us rather than watching our mirror trying to stay out of the way. That's why I've asked in the past to start in the back, that way I can focus on staying on the proper line and following a faster guy for a few turns to see their braking points and the apices/apexes they use so I can get faster.

Hello fellow racers,

I had a great time last night, thanks a lot for hosting the races aero and mike. Looking forward to next week.

Race 3 was a great battle until my PS menu popped up, stupid T300!!

Red, I don't think everyone heard when I called green, that might have been the problem.

I second this idea. Two classes, in order of speed. We still all get to race together, group B can still try to win overall, but will have their own class winner, and no need to have two hosts and deal with promotion relegation. OK, that's my .04 for the day, thanks for listening!

I like the idea of a PRO and AM class (or whatever you wanna call it) based on the rankings @aerolite already has. With the top of AM and the bottom of PRO switching after each race like he said. I've done something similar in SRM with the fast guys in one car and the slower guys in another. The only real downside is that there are fewer to race against, but depending on who you ask, that isn't bad. Lobanaro certainly draws well enough to make it 8 on 8. Put the AM class a few seconds behind the starters, kinda like the staggered starts in VLN / N24.

But is there really room for TWO Mr's Awesomes in a night?

I beat Aero........again, my night was a success.

We want the league to expand, I hate turning people away. With a little recruitment from the hordes, (you), we should be able to fill two rooms easy. By starting with two rooms now, we have room to expand and I would rather race with 8-9 guys my own caliber for a couple of weeks till we can get more Wankers in the rooms to fill them and so on. Look at how many guys are disappointed with GTS and are looking elsewhere for their kicks. How many guys race in public rooms? Don't deny it, we all do sometimes, anyway, when you run across someone who is clean and respectful, like me, plug the lounge to them, have them send AeroPoofter and me a FR.

I did.........I did beat Aero.

I like the idea for the time being of putting the fast guys up front for all the races and let em have at er......interesting......might slow down the mayhem at turn one.

Like a rented mule I beat him.

Congrats to the FNG. Too fast for me, although, for me, it was a pretty good night. I didn't rear end Red once, wish I could say the same to Bear, David and Sam and especially Gutter, who's frikin wing got torn off by me before the race even started. Sorry boys, still working on my braking.

I even waited for you a few times, but, you were sucking on a fire hose last night. Spluuuuuurp.

I have been hit with the tuning glitch too, no ABS in race one sucked. There have been numerous times where my car feels so much different from qualy to race, anyone else?

Maybe I wasn't awesome last night, but, I was better than Steve 👍👍

Sgeti, I think you were one of the few I didn't hit, so it wasn't me.
Samhain has got to be the cleanest, (next to me), racer in the lounge, I watched most of his stream and the courtesy he shows for everyone while being really fast is impressive.......and that's on a controller. Get a wheel bro, then we will see:cheers:
Bear, I seem to run into you a lot, but after watching most of the replays, when I do hit, nudge or scrape you, its after you have had a slight slip, slow down and my skanky old analog brain still running windows 95 can't compute fast enough to compensate. I'm not making excuses, that's AeroBubble's............who I spanked last night.......thing. I take full responsibility and should be prepared to avoid you or anyone else. It breaks my heart to take out another BoB.

Let's grow this Lounge guys, we need your help to recruit racers and someone who is willing to make a Monday night commitment to host a second room.

I totally agree, I've been right on the tail of the car in front of me...and how many times have you all heard me say...Jesus I've got em on both sides!!.. I think I will go back to my rule of check my mirror, if your there just before the corner,I'm cranking it across the apex. Dive bombers beware, the bear is cutting off your nose!.

To do with Rednose's alternative starts ;

Why dont we try a green out of a corner, single file? You wouldn't need anybody to say green green green either, as we would all have the exact same starting point... out of the corner.
Also if we had the manual pits on, where you have to drive in the pits yourself, we could all drive in in order and as they let us out 1 by 1, that's your green.

But because both of these are way too simple, it would take you about an hour to explain it and 6-8 weeks for everyone to get it right.

It happens to me all the time. Also major differences after pit stops. On Monday I can almost imagine that it happened from lap to lap where I do a fast lap, then the next lap it is so loose I lose 1.5 seconds just to set up a fast lap on the next one with a very stable car, then repeat...

After reading your comments, the majority asked to stay together, so we will do that for now. As soon as we start to have a regular occurrence of drivers not being able to get in because of full lobbies, then we will go to two rooms.
We will be trying something a bit different this coming Monday. It will be a two class race. We will split the drivers into the usual two groups according to the rankings as of last week. "A" group will start, followed by "B" group, after a pre-determined amount of time. Both groups starting order will be set by reversed ranking order for race 1, and reverse grid for race's 2 & 3, which will start with the same staggered start as race 1. This should ease the congestion and incidents at the start, especially for the last two.
So scoring at the end of the night will be for Group A, Group B and an Overall.

Race 1 - GP
Group A - Ford
Group B - Vette

Race 2 - GP
Group A - Vette
Group B - Ford

Race 3 - Short
Group A - your choice (Vette or Ford)
Group B - your choice (Vette or Ford)

Here is the reversed starting order for both groups as of last weeks active drivers. Positions within each group will likely change because of driver not attending or someone being added.

Excellent! Well done layout - looking forward to it!

So, it looks like Steve and I start at the back of Division 2, right at the back of the whole field, wassup wit dat? Cool, nowhere to go but up.
Div. 2 is where all us slow Wankers will compete for the Wankersomeness trophy. Named after Steve (Aerowanker).Who's got the biggest Wanker of the night?
Most of us slow guys never have a chance of being Awesome, but hopefully we can all be a Wanker once in a while.

How's the recruiting cumming along guys? Echo, echo, echo, shut up Colts.

How did you get the words to go smaller? And who is clots? And has anyone seen my bycicle pump?

I’m not one to brag buuuuut,

Man I’m liking my avg. finish position!

Haven’t driven the Ford, hopefully the Vette is a little more stable than PCARS1, I remember that thing being deadly

Bear..............^^^.......look up when writing a post ........look waaaaaay up. Hi Rusty, let me Call Jerome. Remember who used to say that?
For real, see those ^^^, click on them Aa, and BoBs your uncle.

Thanks for a couple of feed backs guys.
Bear, you had two wins (wk2 r2, wk6 r2) but it's been awhile now! Same as a few of us others!
Oh my gosh!...really? Two wins?... son of a ..... dam I wish I could remember...
Ya know now that I think of it...I think my wife had me shop for my own Christmas presents a few months back... can't really remember tho...just as well... at least I'll be surprised come Christmas morning.
