Congrats to
@yogi bear, this weeks "Mr. Baawesome" for the Grp B overall win
I hope you guys enjoyed last nights racing, sounded like there were some good battle's going on.
Myself, well I'm sure by my absence in race 3 that it was obvious I wasn't having much fun. I went back to the pits and then got up from my rig and took a walk. Came back at lap 10 but hit the wrong button and left the room, but was able to get back in and spectate, you just couldn't hear me. Ok, so here comes the rant, (and some whining).
The rant:
We are a casual night, but I am still seeing things that are not right that we need to improve on. I don't know how many times I need to say this, but why do some still feel the need to try and win the race in the first couple of corners! Our races are 30 minutes long, plenty of time to work your way into a good finishing position, rather than destroying your race or others from unnecessary moves at the start. Those that are being cautious and trying to be clean are suddenly at the mercy of someone trying to barge their way through. There is nothing wrong with a good clean move if the opportunity presents itself, but week in and week out there are guys getting taken out. Last week was the first time ever that we had good clean starts, but that was just one week!
Another thing I'm starting to notice is towards the back of the grid on the rolling starts. We are all supposed to be in a close single file when the head of the field calls the race start. I have noticed recently that some are out of line and some that have dropped back, enabling them to get a jump on the rest of the field, this cannot continue. One way to stop this is to can the rolling starts and go to 10 minute qualy's before race 2 & 3. I will be discussing this with Mike this week.
End of rant.
The whine:
On a personal note, I have not really been enjoying my nights lately as I should be. I have been taken out of a good position every single week now for the last seven weeks by someone attempting a bonehead move, or out braking themselves and hitting me from behind. I thought maybe not being in a yellow car might help this week, but not. At the same time, I am definitely at fault for taking myself out, or messing up and directly affecting someones race behind me. If I realize that has happened I will drop back and at least get that driver back out in front of me, it's not always the easiest thing to figure out during the race but if your really not sure then just wait. Every single one of us makes mistakes, and there are just plain old racing incidents, but we are all good and experienced racers here and the items noted above really shouldn't be an issue.
End of whine.
