I hope you guys enjoyed last nights racing, sounded like there were some good battle's going on.
Myself, well I'm sure by my absence in race 3 that it was obvious I wasn't having much fun. I went back to the pits and then got up from my rig and took a walk. Came back at lap 10 but hit the wrong button and left the room, but was able to get back in and spectate, you just couldn't hear me. Ok, so here comes the rant, (and some whining).

The rant:
We are a casual night, but I am still seeing things that are not right that we need to improve on. I don't know how many times I need to say this, but why do some still feel the need to try and win the race in the first couple of corners! Our races are 30 minutes long, plenty of time to work your way into a good finishing position, rather than destroying your race or others from unnecessary moves at the start. Those that are being cautious and trying to be clean are suddenly at the mercy of someone trying to barge their way through. There is nothing wrong with a good clean move if the opportunity presents itself, but week in and week out there are guys getting taken out. Last week was the first time ever that we had good clean starts, but that was just one week!
Another thing I'm starting to notice is towards the back of the grid on the rolling starts. We are all supposed to be in a close single file when the head of the field calls the race start. I have noticed recently that some are out of line and some that have dropped back, enabling them to get a jump on the rest of the field, this cannot continue. One way to stop this is to can the rolling starts and go to 10 minute qualy's before race 2 & 3. I will be discussing this with Mike this week.
End of rant.

The whine:
On a personal note, I have not really been enjoying my nights lately as I should be. I have been taken out of a good position every single week now for the last seven weeks by someone attempting a bonehead move, or out braking themselves and hitting me from behind. I thought maybe not being in a yellow car might help this week, but not. At the same time, I am definitely at fault for taking myself out, or messing up and directly affecting someones race behind me. If I realize that has happened I will drop back and at least get that driver back out in front of me, it's not always the easiest thing to figure out during the race but if your really not sure then just wait. Every single one of us makes mistakes, and there are just plain old racing incidents, but we are all good and experienced racers here and the items noted above really shouldn't be an issue.
End of whine.
So you haven't been having fun the past couple months? Hmm... what's been different the past couple months? Has anyone been missing? Are you just, perhaps, missing somebody? Well let's try to put some fun back in your Mondays next week. I'M BACK BITCHES!!!!

You guys crack me up ,

The older mature guys generally provide clean racing,

Take out the mature and what do you end up with,

Old teenagers dive bombing each other's ,

Can't say thou I've noticed that in this league ,that's dive bombing lol,

I was gonna ask for invite for next Monday but I see you have a full house,

Which is a good thing ,

That proves its a clean league guys ,

I always love this quote ,

When you are in you are in

But when you are out you are most definitely out,

Quote of the week from my wife , .

I gotta get on track with these things... didn’t realize the Porsche pack came out!
Time for some flat 6 fun!
One thing to note. There's been some issues reported with the Porche pack whereby the boost is not working and the rev doesn't reach its intended limit severely reducing speed. The devs have become aware of the bug and are working on it. Should be sorted out in an ensuing patch.

Well I hope it doesn't change the 908, that little cutie is a dream to drive!
The 917/10 is the only I've noticed a big boost-kick, and it's pretty manageble. The 959 does seem to be lacking ooomph though.

These cars all seem fun and are the best time I've ever had driving Porsches in a sim. IMO the GT6 Porsches were just waaayy too tail happy

I'm going to do a little practicing tonight, around 10 pm. Gotta shake off the cobwebs. If anyone's interested in joining me, hit me up. ;)

Just installed the Porsche pack and tried the 959. The turbo is definitely not working. Not sure it's a deal breaker, as we'll all be driving the same turboless car, but just thought the B.O.D. should be aware.

I was expecting that the 959 should be quicker than the Carrera RSR as I sort of remember it was quite a car when it came out. But not being much of a Porsche guy I just figured that was the car. Both Mike and I thought that it seemed slower at first but then just went oh well. But if we are all in the same situation I guess it doesn’t matter, and it makes for an interesting two class race.

So have you guys been running with penalties on or off? Because the stewards are very strict with the chicanes at Leipzig. Like SNAIL at Ascari strict! The difference in lap times is a few seconds depending on whether you adhere to the PCars stewards, or the two tires on the racing surface rules.

Hey any group A guys get any times with the Porsche. I thought I heard people saying it handles good but mine seems kinda soft and and pushes and breaks loose with default seting I made a tune and ran a 1:35.124 I think it was a the seconds are 35 could be 25 or 45 what ever makes sense. Any reference would be great thanks.

Me, Mike and Sgeti were doing some laps and pretty sure Sgeti was running high 40's.

:gtpflag: Announcement :gtpflag:

This is in regards to the turbo problem with the 959. Did a bunch of testing and with some different results, but in the end figured out what worked. After following the link that CB posted, picking the 959 from the "Class" of car worked but only after restarting the game. It was working for me before, but when I opened a room and Mike joined, his turbo worked but mine suddenly wouldn't. So I restarted the game while Mike opened a new room, I joined and no problem, turbo worked for both of us.
So on race night, before joining the room, restart your game if you have had it on already, then when you go to pick the car, make sure you change it so you pick by class, not by manufacturer (R2). Then pick the 959 and don't touch it again. Your turbo should work.
We put it up against the 911 and it is now faster, so this week Grp B will have the faster car for a change, we decided not to switch as we want this once in awhile anyways. It should make for an interesting night as it's not that much quicker!

What happens if in-between sessions the host encounters some issues as happens sometimes and has to abandon the lobby to create a new lobby to send out invites again and we then have to re-join? Do we then have to shut down and restart the console again and repeat process?

Oh, this is going to be fun. Somebody will have a dud. Hope it's not me. What about penalties? On or off?

Have fun Monday night, unfortunately I won’t be able to make it. Those Porsche’s seem like they’ll make for a great night of racing for you guys.

You only need to restart the game to be safe, not the console.
If some of you feel this is going to be an issue then speak up and we will just pick another car.

Just spent a little time on Pcars, did a few laps in the 911 RSR... awesome car and liepzig is an awesome track, less the ascari chicanes. This thing lights up the tires coming out of the hairpins and I can’t help but slide this beast everywhere... I’m in heaven!

Then my dad and I got side tracked by the 917 at Spa... this Porsche pack has everything I’ve ever wanted. I think I’m in love

Yeah, that little 911 is SUH-WEET!!
I'm also loving the 917s and 908. When I was a kid - like 6 or 7, my borhter had a model of a 911 Turbo Carrera, I tole him I would own one oneday, and it was my favorite car for many years. I also remember when the 959 came out - again, I was awestruck. That 911 is a timeless design, it's great to have it in PCars.
I got the 959 to behave a bit better, but that turbo! Man, it sounds like one of David's asian girls squealing!! I seriously almost can't stand driving the thing!

Personally I think presently with the current issues and bugs related to the Porche Legends pack cars the risk of frustration and time wastage is too high and may be better if we use them and the track when the issues are sorted out in an ensuing patch. That is just my opinion but of course y'all can go ahead with whatever y'all choose to do.

On Thursday night, bugs aside, GT (Shaun) and I did some practice runs with the 959 albeit on Road America and it was not a pleasant experience for me at all. The car was just spinning out on the corners all over the place as though there was oil on the road. Understeery at times, oversteery who knows. All I can say for me it was very frustrating and if that experience continues when I fire up the PS4 in a bit to try out again I will just excuse myself from this Monday night to avoid the frustration and avoid making a nuisance of myself for others. And that is just the handling of the car not taking into account issues that may pop up during race night with the potential car choosing/rebooting/precious time wasting bug issues.

Now that Thursday night practice run was on Road America eh and what what I see this track "Leipzig" we intend to race on is way trickier with narrower track and much sharper corners. I predict there'll be a good many collisions.

One thing to note David, is that these Porsche’s are rear engined cars. That means the weight balance is focused more towards the rear of the car, and will have a tendency to slide around quite a bit. Quite a famous characteristic of the Porsche cars... when the back end starts to slip out the normal reaction for almost everyone is to lift off the throttle, but with these cars you want to apply more throttle to get the back end to squat down and power out of a corner.

With the 959 being 4wd, this is even easier to do, as you have the front wheels pulling you along as well.

@davidt33 if you’re still having oversteer issues, here’s a general rule of thumb to correct it. If your car is spinning out on turn in, stiffen the front springs/anti-roll bar a bit. If it’s still spinning out, adjust your brake bias more towards the front and increase engine braking to minimize wheel lock up when changing gears, which would in turn produce a trail brake sensation and rotate the car.

If you’re spinning out coming out of the corners, soften the rear springs and “disconnect” the sway bar in the back (anti-roll bar to 0nm) and then slowly work your way back up to a sway bar setting you like.

Just a couple general rules I go by when tuning a bad handling car to try and tame it a bit ;)
