We are totally on the same boat with this hobby now.
Anything that is not Mazda or Nissan is just "extra fluff" in my collection, and doesn't need to stick around. (Hot Wheels wise)

My delayed work trip is in November now. Can you say 20 hours overtime? Japan Booster order coming up...

Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and Maisto purchases from Walmart today.

More pics to come after I open all of them up.

You gonna take that from him, @Cano?
He's Shinji. Just lol.
We were talking about the strippers, right? I couldn't have paid a bigger compliment? :odd: They are not all friendly or fun you know? Not that I know, but I heard that from friends.......
Another thing iv'e noticed in the pic @R1600Turbo posted. Could that be Biffs car from BTTF, covered in do-do?
I have never respected you more. I kept looking at that pic going "...... it gotta be poop." It doesn't matter if this was the right answer, you are the big winner.👍
That Crown is wicked. I have seen one in person during my trip in Japan last month. It's a Crown Athlete.
👍 I do have old school Crown(TLV) coming from AmiAmi, you might like it. It's crazy, because they still share somewhat resemblance decades later. If I ever see it(it dropped off from tracking while back lol), you'll see what I mean.

Here's a great example of my luck:

Stopped by my local Walmart twice a day for two weeks straight waiting for a new dump bin. Never showed. I purchased that Super Datsun last night so I skipped going there this morning. On the way home figured what the hell and stopped by. Guess what was out? At least they were decent enough to leave me (or @Cano ) a few regular wagons. Bought a green 620 for a custom and walked out.

FML.

Eh as much effort and wasted time/gas I put into searching, my finds are miniscule compared to most.

Have you calculated whether it would cost you less to just buy one off a scalper? Gas and time are big money these days. I rarely hit up local stores now.

edit (43 mins later): I learned 2 HTML/CSS codes so I'm amping up the blog post containing all my customs.

Got a show/hide code running to save on scrolling. When you hover over an image, a black translucent box along with white text appears. No need for static info fixed into the page now.

The diecast page may see some other change, but my sets/series page is definitely got something cool in store for it.

edit (20 mins later): Have you ever been in love?

Because I caved after a year's wait. Managed to only save $10. Been trying to talk the seller down to $60 for it several times. They said on two occasions they're going to take it to the LA convention to see if anyone's going to buy it. Nah. Never happened I suppose. No one's going to want a non-mint acrylic case. I hope it buffs out.

The good doctor is 100% right. Recall seeing this on T-hunted (maybe, I forget) a while ago. So awesome.

Well, at least you found them. The case containing the wagon and orange Porsche have started to show up. I found 4 Porsches but not a single wagon in three stores.

But they're starting to come...

And oh yeah, two of them would be sweeeet.

Slow day at work, browsing eBay for cars I need even though I don't have money to buy them.

I like these auction listings with lots of 10 or more cars with "VHTF" in the title. Umm, obviously not?

Very awesome indeed.

Just visited T-hunted for the very first time (can't believe iv'e never checked it out before). Seems they're the first with the new HW's scoops. Can't believe they mistook that Transit for a Morris Mini van though.

@a6m5 I thought it looked strange poo too when i first saw it, then it clicked that it must be deliberate.

XXXHTF!

When I make my listings, I'm sticking in cheesy phrases instead.

Ate the Halloween cars worth collecting at all?

While we try to objective the term, we all calculate worth through subjective unorthodox methods.

I think it's most accurate to say: whether you find it worth collecting is up to what your goals are in this hobby.

To give you an example
I stocked up on the 2013 Matchbox 60th Anniversary Commemorative Edition. I was working on a set, but I didn't aim to collect all of them. Here are the questions that lie up ahead:
-So why am I collecting them then? I'm collecting the cars I like and leaving out the ones I don't.
-Okay, so why did I get the '68 Ford Mustang for... or the VW T2 Bus? I don't even have an interest in them, so why? I guess I sorta did want to get as many as I could. That could apply for the Mustang. I bought the T2 just because everyone goes crazy about VWs. I reckon I could sell this for some money.
-So am I collecting as an investment? Somewhat... it's a half-hearted mission, but I do grab a few cars solely for their value.

From a set of "why" questions I asked myself, I learned I didn't have a real goal with those cars. As such, I recently broke down my carded set. About 4 cars have been taken out for a future sell. I've kept the rest in their matchbox packaging.

This is what I came to after making purchases on impulse. You could prevent yourself from spending money you wish you didn't if you figure out what it is you're after in this hobby. If for instance money is not something you're got an abundance of, I highly suggest you that your mission not be "I collect whatever I like or appeals to me". If you set reasonable and achievable goals, you can certainly feel engaged in the hobby by having something specific to search for, limiting yourself from spending too much (depending on what it is), and feel a huge sense of accomplishment and excitement when you find and secure that one last rare item to complete the collection.

If you've been following my recent posts, my latest goal is to collect only yellow Ferraris. Some are surprisingly difficult to come by, but thankfully, whenever they are available, not many people want them, so I can win auctions at lower prices. That's a convenient bonus for me. Who needs red Ferraris?

You ate your Halloween cars? :p

I mistook them for candy, darn it! Guess who is having diecast poos soon?

@AOS- ; alot to munch on there. Pun intended. I'd like to think I am on your level of ideas of collecting. I mostly buy what I'm interested in. But some are because I know they are sought after. (Not that I've been buying really anything at all recently. Most are birthday presents.) I did end up getting the set of Halloween cars, and I would be a fool if I didn't admit if was for both reasons. To have and possibly sell in the future.

I guess what I need to really come to terms with is this is my collection. I won't lie that I've picked up a few items just to impress you guys. Yup. It's true. My attempt at fitting in and trying to become a full fledged member of the 'boys club'.

While it's probably too early to truly know what it is you're aiming for, I think it's worth knowing about the concept now and recalling it later.

To branch off to another topic based on one thing you said, I've myself have picked up stuff to try and impress the people here. Sad, but true. While one might say to just collect for yourself, I say I collect to hold a presence in this thread.

I've tried to venture out of GTP's HW community, but it's mostly younger/older dudes who are all nutso about anything Mustang/Camaro/Drag/VW/Candy Colour/Torq Thrust/HW Livery and don't have the level of appreciation for anything else that I see here. They also tend to be those like/make any custom just because it has rubber tires, buy a ton of new mainlines and try to sell/trade for double the value or $upers... it's always about the $upers with them. They also tend to be the lesser intellectual folks, both young and old; abrasive and immature attitudes (worst than me) and disappointing writing skills.

So with that said, I like us for being more than just HW-geeks. The diversity in taste and ability to form proper sentences and spelling makes this GTP's HW Thread one of the better diecast communities to be in.

Greenlight posted on their facebook page about the Zoolander Bronco and Anchorman Van coming out from Hot Wheels. All they had to say was they would take it as a compliment.

If anyone is interested in getting their hands on the Limited Edition Ferrari 50th Anniversary Enzo GT Concept or F50 GT, I did you the favour of raising the bid to $15 each.

Impulse me wanted a chance of trade bait, but $15's more than I'll want to go.

BTW @RCKakashi14, are you willing to link me to your flickr/photobucket account? I wanted to look at your photos to check out how certain Kyoshos look from numerous angles.

I agree and thank you for the advice. It is appreciated.

I had the displeasure of meeting my first collector in person yesterday. I asked for some beginner advice. We struck up a conversation, and I learned what a pain collectors can be. He told me to buy cars only based on resale value and as many as I could afford. Not my cup of tea. I then asked where is good places to check out locally, and he just stormed off. It was like he thought he was the only collector allowed to be in the county. Just irritating. Also, my short ventures into forums outside of GTP have just left me shaking my head in disbelief. Such........asshats.

I do appreciate the love of all things diecast car wise here. But I still have to wonder why people spend anything more than say $20 on one item. I don't think I'll ever be able to justify spending anything more than $20 bucks no matter what on a single item.
