Looks like another "meh" at best 510, following the Cool Classics & Heritage thing, at least to me. Card looks decent though.
The black/black is the first pre-production sample before they made changes. The black/red should be final.
One of my very first blog post was this casting. This release look a ton better though. I'll be on a lookout for this one.

Unreal. My Walmart had tons of everything except the Kool Kombi. :(

I had to hit the same Walmart little bit ago, I passed it before, but I did pick up one "Bump Around".
I passed on the bump around and fish and chipped. I just wanted the mini and kombi. The kombis were at the bottom of the bin.

Let me guess, it's the blue/silver one isn't it? I've got that one on preorder.

That's the one. Black spoiler this time. Just like the black spoilers that came pre-installed on all the earlier releases. Pretty soon TLVs will just be kits

With such a detailed front mask, it's practically begging to have the details painted.
And perhaps Yellow LEDs?

Oh man, that thing is so cool.

1- it's a horrible chinese ripoff of Matchbox 's casting. The body is perfect, but you should see the interior

In fact you can see it! Why? Because the orange one in the pics is actually a replacement for the one I had in my childhood, which I absolutely trashed and want to restore. Here it is.

Problem is, back when I was a little brat I tried to repaint it without popping it open so I kiiiiinda masked it up and let my rattle can rip... with the outcome you could expect.

After destroying it the car sat, complete with masking still in he windows, for the better part of 20 years. When I discovered this custom thingie I dug it out and realized that the glass was toast due to the masking tape. Then I proceeded to destroy it even more trying to get the paint off the plastic grille by submerging it in acetone... but it stayed there for too long of a time and simply disolved

So, the car has sat idle with no windows and no grille shell for years, waiting until I found another one, be it a Matchbox original or another fake one, and of course all beat up because I'm not gonna destroy a good car to try to replicate the grille shell and glass for this thing.

But what would you know, the wait is over (:

That's awesome! @Cano

It's a shame about the loss of the clear windows on the Chinese copy, but the original Matchbox model certainly makes up for it.

[edit]

Really diggin the open front windows on the Chinese version. May have to delete mine to get a better view of the interior.

Indeed. I'm turning that one into a full on track car with a donated interior off a NASCAR car. I might gove it a full window net. The Matchbox will become a rally car.

Nice.
I'm trying to give Tomytec a pass on this whole installation thing by saying maybe the spoiler was optional IRL. Past TLV's were Si's, whereas this latest one is a lower grade.
I thought the same thing, except:

  1. Little instruction is given on the matter. Also, if the spoiler being optional is true to the real life vehicle, then I think it should've been clarified.
  2. Those runners. Way they are provided, it requires (plastic)modeling skills to just detach & prepare the spoiler for installation.
  3. Still annoyed about those Supra chin spoilers. lol
I'm sure lot of collectors couldn't care less, but it's just my stance on the matter. I don't care for it! :D
