... I'm now at 3/7 completion of the Mazda CM's collection.

Make that 4/7

DSCN8044edit.png

This is the third 1986 Monte Carlo rally car that I have. All by CM's, but interestingly, this one is the only model depicted with proper thin snow tires. The winning Lancia Delta S4 has slick road tires and the Citroen BX has what look like rain or gravel tires. Hard to tell. Interesting, since CM's only ever sold that one version of the BX.

EDIT: Alright, I may be an idiot. Naturally the tires would depend on the daily conditions, so a car that was in one event could have had several different tires and they'd all be correct. Those slick tires on the S4 seem suspect though.
EDIT 2: Grainy 80s video is proving unreliable, but I think they're all correct. Never listen to what I say.

Hopefully this means more Hyundai/Kia castings are coming.
I wouldn't mind seeing Genesis too, although that might fit more towards Matchbox? I could see HW doing a Veloster N.

My brother's co-worker was in Japan for a while. Brought back a few Tomicas for me. Kind of wish I waited to get the HW version of the Speedtail before I asked him to find the Tomica version. But I'm still glad to have it.

My only issue with the Tomica McLaren Speedtail is that it’s small... 1:68 scale.

I can’t put it aside the 1:62 scale Ferrari F8 Tributo.

So I've been fortunate enough to have someone found my listing and is enthusiastically wanting to buy up a lot of my carded items.

We agreed on a deal so far, haven't met yet, but now he's thrown in another offer:

To buy up all the carded Shelby cobras in my entire collection of Shelby Cobras. The decision is obviously up to me, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

So to recap on what's special about the Cobras, it was a goal of mine to find every single release. I've more than you can remember, and it's a mix of cards and loose cars. The only reason why it's not a 100% loose collection was so there could be a preservation of cards, displaying a history of how card designs have changed over the decades. Monetarily valueless, but a neat historical sentiment.

At the same time though, I stopped pursuing this goal, so now it's a stagnant incomplete collection. Imagine you and whatever collection you got going, and now someone wants to buy only a chunk of it. What are your thoughts and would you accept/decline?

For me, I'm thinking that selling them off may render the value of selling off the entire lot to be less special, even though I'm getting a decent return on the cards themselves. I'll have even more missing releases so it feels even less complete. And 100% loose car lots generally hold less value as that (I'm guessing) is always seen as someone finding getting rid of their bucket of cars. I'm thinking I will go ahead and work something out for the purpose of de-cluttering my living space.

Tarmac Models made an announcement of cancelling several models. This isn't because of the COVID-19 pandemic but because of licensing issues (which has always been the case for the brand).

1/64 scale
1/ T64G-006-LH | Pagani Zonda 760
2/ T64-030-19BA107 | Bentley Continental GT3 - Bathurst 12 Hour 2019
3/ T64-029-18BTCC25 | Honda Civic Type R TCR - BTCC 2018
4/ T64-029-18ST97 | Honda Civic Type R TCR - Super Taikyu Series 2018
5/ T64-028-18SPA30 | Honda NSX GT3 - 24 Hours of Spa 2018
6/ T64-028-18SUZ34 | Honda NSX GT3 - Suzuka 10 Hours 2018

In particular, the Pagani Zonda and the Koenigsegg Agera models have been released to the market PRIOR to the approval of both car companies. A shame... Tarmac has always been competing as to who gets to make the first diecast model of a particular car, with less than stellar quality.

"The cancellation is largely due to the request from the licensor to not produce the particular model or version of that model. And per Pagani’s request, the Pagani Zonda 760 tooling will be revised into the Pagani Zonda Cinque and various color versions will be announced once the tooling has been revised." - quoted from the store that distributes Tarmac models locally in the Philippines.

Better stick to MINI GT. Half the price, but Kyosho-level quality and detail.

Damn they released it prior to the approval. How did that happen?

As for Mini GT, that red Pandem GTR I just got left a sour taste, they are usually aren't that bad in my experience.

With the Pagani one, they have finalised the licensing agreement in December. Trouble was, they released the Zonda 760 RS in the market months before the said agreement.

So yeah, again, they're stroking their "WE'RE THE FIRST DIECAST BRAND TO PRODUCE X MODEL" ego to attract buyers.

I'm still looking for that FB post regarding someone showing a Tarmac Koenigsegg alongside a real one, and the post author saying that it was not yet licensed.

Guess all this virus business has people out of the stores and not posting here.
Well, to pass the time, I have yet another CM's I've not posted yet. Arrived last week.

1992 Safari rally Galant.
It's pretty sweet. Some paint issues that are not uncommon with some of CM's earlyish sets. Some paint blisters that might not even have been there when the model was brand new. But the wheels haven't yellowed and shattered like my other Galant (from an even earlier series).
I've done some digging of the old CM's website and this series will be 14 years old this year! Really an excellent model for 2006 I think.

There's still online shopping so I don't understand why things have dried up so much...

I have one haul I forgot to post that I got before the virus hit. I’ll post it when I get home from work, I also haven’t been looking for hot wheels as much as I did before the virus.
Pictures of the haul. Basics, finally found a Chiron but it’s the black one. Was the only one on the pegs when I found it.

Hi guys, great looking site, I started collecting a few months ago, I have 13 so far with another in post, never thought months on I'd still be stopping and staring everytime i walk in and adjusting the set daily.
I love 70s and 80s film villan and cop cars most, gives me such nostalgia.
Also I build realistic sets to put them on, worth every penny.
I look forward to chatting 1/64 models with you, I have lots of questions as I'm new and have only got greenlights so far, but need to venture further to get more cars that are sadly not made in 1/64 by greenlight.
Thank you

Fantastic dioramas.
the only thing that would improve the Blues Brother's theme would be the Illinois Nazi Party in the chase too.

you will find LOTS of knowledge in this group of collectors.
welcome to the group

Thank you very much, was looking for a model car chat forum and this looked great.
Haha maybe one day I get the green and the red Estates but they are far down my list, I really want a 1/64 general Lee but Johnny lightning models are like £60!! :embarrassed:
Also a yellow mad max pursuit car is even more rare and expensive, shame greenlight didn't make these, my only knowledge is Ebay, would love some advice.
Thanks
Thanks for the welcome

Went to the store found these
View attachment 905860 Also found the 787b and RWB trucksView attachment 905861 no superbird trucks.

Wow, new wave of US Tomicas are out? What else is in that set?

I see Wave 5 on their website, but it only says Suzuki Escudo, CX-5 Police, Town Ace Hamburger car, and Crown Comfort Taxi. Which I haven't seen in stores yet. Then again, I haven't checked in a while. Don't see anything about a Land Cruiser 70 or HiMedic.
