OK...... quick exchange rate says that U.S. Dollar is nearly even with the Australian, and I know it doesn't cost you guys $14 for standard Hot Wheels car. Right!?

A Standard Hot Wheels car here is between $2 & $2.30, for something like "Vintage Racing" or "The Hot Ones" series cars you're looking at $5.

$14 is the cheapest, I could find an XB Falcon going for within Australia.

Now that you mention it, I have heard how much PS3 cost in Australia back whenever it was released. At least I think it was PS3, and the MSRP was unbelievably high.

Just got back from NY today, didn't buy any cars there, but I did get great REAL car spottings. This is what I bought from New Hampshire. (No tax!)

2 Tomica GT-Rs!

Walmart: (Rather surprisingly the one we went to in Portsmouth was "hidden" and seemed to be a rather small store. There were quite a few 2010 Hot Wheels! -No R34/R35 GT-Rs...- But did pick up some goodies!)

No pictures of them, but they also had the previous Mystery Models. Only found the Toyota RSC and Ranchero. No GT500... Also, would have bought doubles, but my brother seemed to disapprove of buying doubles telling me it was "pointless." So I gave up on that...

As for the eBay thing, didn't win any of the auctions. But what I purchased today made up for it.

Nice cars Medigo. I like the Tomica GTR's, good detaling on them.

Since you brother is back, now he can try to help you out on your collection and even on his own also, if he collects HW also. Two collectors are better than one.

Medigo: Nice GT-R. 👍 Yeah, I sort of agree on purchasing doubles. No offense to those who buy doubles, but only time I'd invest in a second one is if I'm taking one out of package, or if they are some sort of premium, like Back to the Future DeLorean for example.

I kind of wish I bought the Tomica GT-R now. $2.99, or were they on clearance?

I have both, but by far, I prefer the new one(white). 👍

Yeah, I only buy doubles, triples, heck, I go for for four IF I have an idea to modify a few or if I love the car. The only car I have a small number of is the Hako Skyline, 911 GT3 RS and the rest is just either one or two of that same model.

A matchbox Element, it looked really low-quality for a matchbox, but i'm sure i'm wrong.

Matchbox Alfa 155 DTM. THought that was cool.

Mmmhh… forget all of that, dude, you’re too late. Well, the $uper at least, forget it. I have never seen one. I miiiiight me able to snatch the First Edition cars but I’d have to dig a bit with the club members; then there’s the convention in September, a couple might turn up there too.

Also, I bought the Garage version loose over E-Bay and it came with a loose blue one, if you don’t mind having it loose, I could send that one to you once they come in. Finding the yellow one loose could also be easier. If you want purple versions speak now, they are EVERYWHERE here.

Edit: Woot! Just found out I had a BMW 2002 Turbo on GT5 and ironically, it also is white. Rightious 👍

Just read some comments a page back about prices in Australia...

for those who might feel bad for the Aussies, look up the following:

their healthcare?
retirement benefits?
maternity leave?
time off?
avg. pay?

If you don't know, look them up. My brother was there for a year getting $20+/hour plus benefits doing temp work. He cashed in those retirement earnings after a year. no vesting needed. that was working for the queensland chamber of commerce if that makes a difference. His pay rate was inflated in line just about with product cost so its not dire down under. And now with the dollar weakening...the aussie dollar exchanges very well.

On the HW front I slept through the flea market this weekend and to make up for that won a few lots on eBay.

Also, I bought this for my nephew while back.



I told him to bring the thing by sometime, so I can check it out. It was Toys R Us clearance for something like $40. Basically same Tomica(Pla-rail) train set I used to play with when I was a kid, merged together with Tomica/Hot Wheels car play set. Looked really trick.

Car looks really bulky/bubbly. I still like it, but I wish it looked more realistic.
