Ah, I didn't realize that you were in UK. I've bought a boatload from these guys before: Milezone

I just did a quick freight quote, and the shipping on the CR-X alone comes to just over $11 U.S. Yeah, shipping sucks. :dopey:

I guess they are notorious for that. I actually don't have any Walmart nearby at the moment(they just secured a empty lot though). Due to the distance I have to travel, and to avoid traffic, I go only late in the evening, sometimes past midnight. It can still take me about 25 minutes to get to one. I rarely see unreasonably long lines at Walmart, but this is probably why. I do have a coworker who's whined about the Walmart line more than once.

I actually only ever go to Walmart when everything else is closed, so I'm in there past midnight too, and that seems to be when the lines are worst, since there are only a few 24 hour Walmarts around and they're serving an area of a few million people.

Please take some time to read my story. I will have close-ups of the purchase tomorrow.

Location: St. Marys Antique Mall
Time: Much of day w/ travel
Temp.: Holy Muther
Condition of A/C: Non functioning
Condition of Me: Still standing..barely.

Record Sale leads to delirous buyer

I'd been to this mall before. In person, 10 times, and in my mind a great many more. It's not just around the corner, but over an hour a way which means that sometimes the easiest way to go is via make believe like Mr. Rogers taught!

I dont spend time looking through every booth, I just head to the four I know have hotwheels and call it a day. Today was different though. I shouldnt have been there. I should have been relaxing at home, but thanks to American standard (Makers of my shower faucet) I was out looking for something fun to fill my day. Let me explain.

My Sunday WAS to begin with the local St Louis hotwheels club show. Its 5 minutes from my house and I had missed every meet so far this year. I woke early (7:55AM) in preparation and instead of hearing the birds sing, I woke to the sound of my shower leaking. There could have been a wrecking ball heading though the house next door and I'd have not heard it over the dulling thud of each ridiculous drip. Over two hours later, the problem resolved, I had missed the trading part of the meet and was bummed.

On a whim I thought, "I'll take a day trip."

I drove the hour, in 95 degree heat, without A/C, (because Subaru hates me) and arrived at the St. Mary's Antique--nearly 700 booths of collecting fun. The booths I like are randomly on sale, usually 20-40% and never more. Today was totally different. Imagine my surprise when I reached booth 100 and saw 75% off! I thought about checking with the counter help for surely this was a mistake, but I went on filling my basket, computing the sale rates along the way. Then I read the sign more closely and he had listed ALL of his booth and this drastic rate.

I've read that sometimes people just get a feeling. Like when they wake up, something alerts them that today, in particular, will be a good day. I assure you that feeling was not present in me today. My feelings were more in line with 🤬 shower and the 🤬 faucet taking up my :banghead: Sunday when I just want to arrarrhgh 🤬 🤬 hotwheels and I'll aiskkashdhasd aghghh !!!!

Anyway, I had no idea the sale was going on or I'd have brought more than $$. You'll see the results of my trip below and they are epic. I searched through the 1000s of cars for so long I actually became dizzy and had to take a seat in some primitive furniture a few booth down. While I was sitting in something wittled with hand tools in 1875, a young boy walked to within a few feet of me. We were alone in the aisle. He made a statement, something about an item on a high shelf. in my general direction. Then he posed a question about the possibility of there being a way he could reach the item. Look kid, Ithought, I'm not physically fit at the moment to handle hotwheels so grabbing delicate items off high shelves, items that can and will break mysterioulsy in a twelve year olds hands, is off the table.

I staggered to the checkout and dropped the basket on the counter. The gal asked if I knew that the seller had started this sale or was it luck for me to arrive. Know, how would I know?? If there's a way for the seller to alert me ahead of time his booths will be 1960s prices... YES, put me on the list!

My delirious state continued all the way home as the joy of collecting, combined with the heat of summer, lack of A/C and shortage of fluids caused me to pull over at a rest area for a break physically unable to drive 60 miles home after having craned my neck and back for 2+ hours sorting hotwheels.

Unreal prices on some unreal cars........ but as someone who never uses his AC in the car, used to play basketball just about everyday in that kind of heat(sun from above, reflected heat from the court!), I'm sorry, that "feel your pain" part, I'm completely lacking. :p

More pics!

In my area, I think all but one are 24 hours. And we have less people obviously.
and a Tyrrell :)
One of the handful of TH's I've been to score as well. Nice. 👍
It was quite big, wasn't the nice 'Bandai' one though... can't remeber who made it but it had bogus tampo's on it: it had 'IMMIGRANT' instead of 'CITIZEN', 'Corrupt' instead of 'Canon' etc. had lots of nice quality detail though, ended up giving it to my dad, as he collects bike models.

[EDIT]
Kaneda Akira bike was made by McFarlane, and it may have actually been 1/16 scale not 1/18... i remember getting a 'Tetsuo' character with his messed up arm at the same time as well. :D
If they couldn't get the copyrights, it would've been more fun to use other corporate names: Citizen>Casio, Canon>Kodak.

I know, I'm stupid.

Not a recent purchase, but a recent discovery of one I've had for years.
How old do you think it is?

Picked up the z4m and three mad mangas (finally!!!!!!) today. I have two in full boxes and one in the short card. I noticed the star tampos on the rear all vary in size and the pinstripe along the side also varies in completion, which is very unederstandable for a car three inches large. Is there any variation in worthiness with tampo completion/error?

Also thought it was weird... In the short card, its labled "2012 Premiere" and on the latger card its "2012 New Model" lol

Ok, sorry for the crappy photo. I wanted to just snap a picture with my cell phone on the way out the door this morning and it came out worse than I thought. You can still kind of make out what I found.

Left:
- Ultra rare 5 spoke Ferrari California. (bet you've never seen one of these in the flesh!)
- Chrome wheel variation on the Matchbox 911 GT3. (Actually found 3 of these :D)

Right:
- Mustang Boss Laguna Seca Error. (e-cookie to the person who can spot the error)
- '12 Corvette Z06 error (swapped base. has base from the '11 Grand Sport Corvette)

Edit: Also found a wheel error '67 Shelby GT-500 this morning. Will post photo on my lunch...

Serious? I've been searching for this car for 2 months and there are only split spoke (PR5) versions on this side of the country. The 5SP version is RARE over here.

Here. :p

Edit: Here's the wheel error I found this morning.

Oh to have the time and patience it takes to go through bins of cars looking for errors and rare cars. If I want it, I'll find it on eeeeee...Bay! (you have to sing that last bit)

Yeah, and pay 4 tiiiiiiiimes as much. :p

Seriously took me only a couple minutes to find each of those. The wheel error I found this morning was right on the front of the pegs staring me in the face.

The Boss Mustangs I just look for the name of the car, reach back and flip them forward to check for the mirrors, then move on. Same with the wheels on the Ferrari.

The mustangs actually quite common , its like one in ten has that error , some poor bastard probably lost his job because of that error to.

I doubt this. Considering it's taken me 2 months to find one, looking at EVERY car. Ditto on the Ferrari. Finding both was like finding a $uper TH for me.

Worst page, ever. It's all about errors, and the cookie isn't even real!
Thank you sir. Wadda think of my collection in my previous posts?
I can't recall, and I can't even find the post.

Errors & variations > Boring standard mainline releases.

Thrill of the hunt. :p
Oh, get outta here with your "boring" mainline release stuff! For me, errors would be more like a stinky fart of the hunt.

Maybe it's just my "investment" part kicking in again. Some of these may be worth more than it's mainline release in the distant future. Including that Ferrari.

I'm just pitching you crap.

Wow, that Ferrari with the 5-spokes is interesting. And THREE of those variations? Guess it's not going to be a rare/special one. :indiff: Well, time to hold onto it for a while.
