Also with this new bhp adjustor you can take a 400bhp vehicle down to 197bhp , but the lower power vehicles tend to have between 12-25kg torque but the more powerful vehicles have 30+ , if people are bringing these new vehicles to the table it's not gonna be much fun. I think it should be limited also Asdfg. Just a though I'm more than happy to come last but need to get my excuses out first . :)

Possibly set a pp limit and leave it at that. I've been discussing in another series I'm in and it seems that if you down grade high powered cars to a lower bhp level (the same as a lower powered car) the pp is still higher due to the extra torque. Have a play with it yourselves and see what you find.
 
Assuming people had a nice 197HP car picked out before this update, would you kindly share the weight HP and now the new Performence Points figure for me please?

My copen is set to 197 hp 732kg and 491 pp. I have limited the power a little. Its been doing 1:27 Easy with a 1:26 once if that helps. Running SS tyres. I think either 490, 495 or 500 would be a good choice.

I am fairly pants but me and jasonpooley just had a brief tryout with the new downgrade options and some of the previously available cars. Tbh I didn't have much joy with a couple of downgraded cars - didn't change the setup but a Nissan 350z at 197bhp for example seemed to have a real slow acceleration.

As for the original rules - I would love to use the Lupo or something similar but could be in danger of this being a Lotus festival having seen what that can do earlier. Crazy difference in speed so maybe something to look at for next time. A higher weight would probably open up some fairer match ups, but I'm also cool with giving PP a crack. Long :tup.

That would defo make a difference but I haven't really had the time to get any testing in so I only did 4 laps with the 350 using the base setup.

Did a solid and more consistent run in the Lupo and the Honda Mugen Motul Civic - both cars I like driving...

But then a 1:23.100s was put down by a lotus (not me driving obviously!) and that is way out of my league! Should be fun though
 
My lotus at 196 hp and 704 kg put down a 121.xx but I think I'm going to run my cr-z for fun that is doing around 128.xx. I also built up a 240z at 197 but it's up in the 130.xx range ATM might run that for fun if I can knock a few seconds off in tunning.

Woooooo I actually just got an hour or two to try out some different cars and the power limiting and PP defo throws our previously set rules into a little chaos. Below are some of the cars and my absolute best times (I'm sure many of you have gone quicker!):

Lotus Elise '04 RM* - 1:23s (PP 534)
350z GT4* - 1:27s (PP 449)
Lupo GTI cup car - 1:27/8s (PP 453)
Lotus Elise '96 - 1:24/5s (PP 521)

* reduced in power to meet 197bhp

Although all within weight and bhp regs, there is up to a 100pp difference in some cars and about 4/5 seconds per lap, which is pretty big.

I suppose I should basically just pick the car I have been fastest in but I don't mind if people think we need to look at this again once in the room?! Obviously I won't be winning anyway but thought some of this info may help?!

All of the below have SS tyres and all available non power/weight tuning options added (clutch, flywheel etc) installed but are in out of the box tune:

Lotus Elise '96 - 197bhp/709kg = 521pp (w. aero mods)
Peugeot 106 Rallye '03 - 196bhp/791kg = 489pp (no aero mods)
Hommel Berlinette R/S Coupé '99 - 197bhp/845kg = 482pp (w. aero mods)
VW Golf mk1 GTi '76 - 197bhp/728kg = 481pp (no aero mods)
Mazda Kusabi Concept - 197bhp/800kg = 480pp (no aero mods)
Dome Dome-Zero Concept - 196bhp/846kg = 457pp (no aero mods)
VW Lupo Cup Car '00 - 196bhp/830kg = 455pp (no aero mods)
Renault Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16v '02 - 196bhp/880kg = 449pp (no aero mods)
Lancia Stratos '73 - 197bhp/872kg = 447pp (no aero mods)
Alfa Romeo Duetto '66 - 197bhp/854kg = 442pp (no aero mods)
Honda Civic Type R (EK) '97 - 197bhp/888kg = 433pp (no aero mods)
VW Lupo GTi CUp Car (J) '03 - 197bhp/899kg = 418pp (no aero mods)

I haven't lapped them all to do times (and I am far from the quickest driver) but a quick test of a couple reveals some differences that seem to fit the PP scale:

Lotus Elise '96 - 197bhp/709kg = 521pp (w. aero mods) - 1:23.xxx
Mazda Kusabi Concept - 197bhp/800kg = 480pp (no aero mods) - 1:27.xxx
Hommel Berlinette R/S Coupé '99 - 197bhp/845kg = 482pp (w. aero mods) - 1:27.xxx
Renault Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16v '02 - 196bhp/880kg = 449pp (no aero mods) - 1:29.xxx

[All times run in two lap sessions with same conditions as set in series + real track edge grip]

Starting to look like 450-500pp may be the sweet spot for the original concept of the 197hp club

Thanks to all who came, a bunch of us stayed on afterwords (all were welcome) and did a 500PP race, a few shuffle races and karts and stuff I had a blast.

The first race I used my 197hp Honda CRX which I had picked preupdate... yeah I got blown away! I will have to review the 500PP race to see if that was any more balanced.

Willing to listen to everyones input and suggestions.

Going to try and get the replys up on youtube or something, somehow. And I personally wont be doing pictures :yuck:

It was a awesome crowd, exactly what I hoped! and I hope you can all join in again same time next week, Saturday the 26th at 8:30PM 👍
 
I can't race this coming weekend mate as I'm going to see friends but I'll definitely be back in the weekend after if there is room for me.

Aye no problem, wondering if theres any interest in holding 2 "sessions" per week? Of course no one has to come to both lol.

Someone else coulde even host them if I arnt around etc.

Cheers for arranging Asdfg11 - really enjoyed it. Good crowd so I definitely think it's worth sorting something for the future.

I think the PP will work better (although I'm happy with my 2nd place!) but maybe if we're going to try and do low powered stuff it should be somewhere between 400-450??

Twice a week might be a good shout or just switching to midweek as Saturday nights can often be difficult?! Thursday's at 8 would be cool for me - would definitely have a few others interested at that time. See what the majority say of course.
 
Thanks for setting this event up, it was a lot of fun racing and not least a lot of fun trying to find a car to meet the race specs. Its races like these where its possible to find those hidden gems. Would it be possible to post what cars where used in the race?

I´d be happy to join again next week, Saturday evening works fine for me.
 
I was using a Copen that had as much done to it as could be done. Randomly with all upgrades it came in at exactly 197hp.

Sorry for anyone who couldnt find the room, it was in my lounge I should have had this info in the first post. I also didnt send out any notices or anything over PSN as I wanted to see who the most interested where and who showed up without being reminded.

It would be interesting if people didnt mind posting what cars they used and the specs including PP. I will try and post my exact info later.

I dont think the 197hp concept can work now without a huge blacklist of cars that cannot compete such as RM/race cars and elises.


Perhaps going with the 2 nights per week theme one could be 400-500PP anything goes just limited to soft sports tyres. While the other would be what I had orginally planned, 197hp no race cars :)

You may be able to tell I am pretty easy going here and dont mind if others push their thoughts and ideas, I just want to get people interested and happy :)
 
I asked you if RM were ok because I guessed those kind of cars would have been a bit over the limit. Better choosing normal cars. You could suggest a weight limit too so Lotus Elise would have a weight penalty at least.

The two of us in RM Elises definitely had a huge advantage! I don't have the exact specs to hand though.

As you said before, would be cool if you could limit PP, Bhp and weight if you wanted, as that 500pp limit race definitely threw up some mismatches too. Oooh actually can't remember if you can see everyones PP in the lobby?! If you can then suppose you could make all three work?

It's never going to be perfect of course but maybe the suggestion of running 197bhp with a higher weight would work better? If it was a 1000-1100 it would cancel out the Lotus and any other lightweight stuff?!

I'm not bothered but i do enjoy using RM cars sometimes tho so if presumably they fit within the PP, bhp & weight restrictions - would they not be fairly matched with the others?! I suppose it's the torque and stuff that gives them the advantage but thought that was kind of the point of the PP system?! I don't really know tbh!
