vettle didnt and he was having no problem pulling away from hamilton. glock gave up for some reason other than not enough traction especially to be going THAT SLOW.
 
Seeing both pit crews celebrating at the same time... might never see that happen again...

They showed Massa's father just when he was told the bad news. The switch was almost funny, and faster than his son's gearchanges. :p

Vettel DID pit for tyres. He went in right behind Hamilton. If he had not pitted he would have been 30 seconds further up the road.

That was the most amazing finish in motorsports ever... it's a shame i'm on the losing side of it.

I've screamed so much in the last laps my neighbors must be hating me right now...
 
The thing I have with Glock, I only saw the last part of the race that showed him, in a straight line, not moving hardly at all, and giving up a position to Hamilton. The brief moment that I witnessed said to me, he gave it up for reasons other than traction. So, I'm not completely convinced tire choice played that much a role in the decision to let Hamilton pass.

Conspiracy remains.
 
It only looks dodgy because
a. It was I believe 1 lap earlier Glock was lapping about the same as what hamilton did then suddenly was 17 seconds slower
b. It was the last corner.
 
Love the excuses being used for Lewis winning the title. Pretty much everyone except the Toyotas got intermidiates and The Toyotas paid the price heavily, most notibly Glock.

Congrats to Hamilton, my simpathy to Massa.

And, btw, one thing is certain. From now on people have learned Massa CAN drive in the rain (at least next year I won't read that "oh and if it rains Massa will spin 14 times in one lap").

And Vettel can do it better than Hamilton, or so it seemed today. There goes the "rain king" title.
 
Poor Fisichella, Was well in the points and still only finished 18th by the end of it.

Also today ITV was irritating me bigtime. I never paid real attention to mistakes they made during races but today was just rediculous.

Just because nakajima has made mistakes before, they jumped the gun and said it was him when the video clearly showed it wasn't. On top of that, even after seing the clip at least 3 times on replays they still couldn't get it right.

Slicks on a wet track means you don't have any corner speed, and you don't have much acceleration coming out of that corner, therfore you'll be slow down the following straight, and then you have to brake early too. And once you start going slower, you lose tyre pressure and heat and therfore end up going slower.

For the conspiracy guys: may I ask why on earth Glock would give up that position? He or Toyota have no connection to Ferrari, nor to Mc Laren whatsoever, and the FIA has proven not to be the biggest friend of Mc Laren either. So who would be behind that?

To be fair on the McLarens, they were running the lowest downforce in the field, it seemed. But indeed, with a win and this pass, Vettel is quickly making a name as a good wet-weather driver.

Aye, but 18 seconds in a single corner is far too much. He was very much at a standstill - I replayed that second of footage several times to make sure - throughout that corner and slightly after it.

Also, did anyone notice Kovalainen coming to a standstill somewhere in the middle of the race?

It wasn't a single corner, they were closing on him all lap. Before the rain came heavy his tyres will have been at an okay pressure, when the rain came heavy they will have cooled down. That coupled with a lack of traction from the tyres anyway combined to make a very slow last lap, particulalry the last half of the lap, certainly not the last corner. Besides, even if he did give his position up, it's no different in principal to Raikonen giving up his for Massa the race before.
 
I was kinda pissed off at the Glock thing, and I feel really bad for Massa (especially since neither him nor Hamilton knew who really won until after the celebration), but that's the way things go. Maybe Massa will win next year.
 
Glock lost 3 seconds in the first sector, 9 seconds in the middle sector, and 6 seconds in the 3rd sector to Hamilton, on the last lap.

That seems to be consistent with having no grip due to having slicks on a damp track

Absolutely EPIC race!! A very heartfelt and sincere congratulations to Lewis. I must admit, I feel a bit sorry for Massa...but not so much for Ferrari. LOVED the camera shot of the look on Massa's father's face, though. Only because that was the graphic illustration of how the Ferrari collective felt.

I do feel very disappointed for Coulthard, though. Would've liked to have seen him at least finish his final F1 race. He did take it quite gracefully, though...all things considered. He's one of the true gentlemen of F1. There are some who should have been learning about good sportsmanship and how to be a gentleman racer before now (*cough* Alonzo! *cough*). But, oh well. Good luck to DC in his future endeavors!
 
It's not like Glock's loss of pace didn't have a good reason - wrong tyres for the conditions - and, as Dave A said, it wasn't just an "instant" go-slow... McLaren themselves said they were monitoring Glock's pace.... why do you think that was? :dunce: Frankly, if you believe the conspiracy garbage, then you might as well not bother watching F1 at all...

Given Glock would have let Hamilton pass for the championship, how would he know? In the absolute chaos of rain, in the last lap of the last race, with cars all over the place, he would be able to recognise Hamilton in his mirror, realise he has to gain a place to become the world champion and let him by while keeping his own car, equipped with slicks, on a wet track and making it look like it was by mistake in the process?
