Glock and Hamilton aren't on hugging terms. Does no-one remember Monza? I'd imagine he saw the McLaren and kicked himself for not trying to block.

Given Glock would have let Hamilton pass for the championship, how would he know? In the absolute chaos of rain, in the last lap of the last race, with cars all over the place, he would be able to recognise Hamilton in his mirror, realise he has to gain a place to become the world champion and let him by while keeping the car equipped with slicks on a wet track and making it look like it was by mistake in the process?

Anyhow to be honest I don't know. I'm a ferrari fan so I am suspect. But both points of view have valid arguments. Truth is the only person that really knows would be Glock himself. I really do hope though that Ferrari do not try to chase this up further with the FIA. I never appreciate when any team goes whining to the fia post race.

On the upside, Congratulations to Ferrari for taking the constructors.

The thing I have with Glock, I only saw the last part of the race that showed him, in a straight line, not moving hardly at all, and giving up a position to Hamilton. The brief moment that I witnessed said to me, he gave it up for reasons other than traction. So, I'm not completely convinced tire choice played that much a role in the decision to let Hamilton pass.

Both Toyota's did the same lap time. Their sector times are nearly the same. They were clearly in tyre trouble.

Slicks on a wet track means you don't have any corner speed, and you don't have much acceleration coming out of that corner, therfore you'll be slow down the following straight, and then you have to brake early too. And once you start going slower, you lose tyre pressure and heat and therfore end up going slower.

I agree with you, 100%. But, what I saw very briefly, Glock was on a dry, straight path. So, I went back to view that part of the race. And...

No conspiracy. Glock just didn't have the traction. You can see before the last video edit his car was twitching while changing gears. He was, at least, trying to stay ahead, but that was only visible at the end of the straight and while entering the last turn. However, I don't know what exactly how much grip he had in the small, dry straight, but it still looked dodgy, but that's a pretty weak reason to hold any 'conspiracy' against him.
 
To all the Glock conspiracy theorists, and those who say that Massa deserved the championship and not Hamilton: How is Glock getting overtaken by Hamilton at the last corner any less correct than the FIA's ridiculous after-the-race penalties in Spa and Fuji?

Glock slowing down while on dry-weather tyres on a wet track is far more explainable than the after-the-race penalties, which also had far more of an effect on the championship result than Hamilton gaining one extra point in São Paulo.

So either the team is in the conspiracy, or they are killing Glock right now, because he let Hamilton pass him.

Both ways are a bit beyond realism if you ask me.

Well, I'm just going to go out there and say I trust Glock not to do something like that. The fact that McLaren were monitoring Glock's progress said enough that he was in trouble way before that last lap and they were rather hoping that would happen.

Congragulations to Hamilton, Ferrari and another top drive by Vettel! Great drive by Massa too, naturally felt sorry for him though it was pretty funny to see the Ferrari team celebrating pre-maturely.

Interesting seeing as when BBC finished coverage in 1996, Damon Hill was champion, and now ITV ends with Hamilton as champion.
The only difference is, we had the shocking news that Hill was moving way down the grid to an admittedly rejuvinated Arrows team, I doubt we will see that ever happening to Hamilton.
Its also been 10 years of the current form of regualtions (grooved tyres, narrow cars).
 
I just had a stroke on the last lap. Fantastic drive by Vettel. He's the next "RainMaster".

As for the championship contenders, Massa and ferrari did exactly what was needed to when the championship. But just came up short.


Congrats to Lewis Hamilton and Mclaren to finally come out on top, by 1 point no less.

The really funny thing is that on proper slick tyres neither Toyota would have had a problem. Good riddance Grooved tyres.

On proper slicks they'd have been aqua planing all over the place.
 
On slick tyres neither Toyota would've remained on the track, and shouldn't be - no Toyota would've taken the risk of not switching in that weather.
 
Congrats to Lewis. Yeah it wasn't the most triumphant race and luck may have played a small part but that's the way she blows.

I felt for Massa, they both deserved the championship but, in the end, it's like the movie Highlander - there can only be one.

Also the clip of everyone in the Ferrari garage celebrating then running to the left to look up at the monitor in disbelief was priceless.
 
Well done Lewis! :D But he really, really needs to be more consistent to defend his crown next year.
 
sad face :( Still cant believe it happened like that I dont like the way people in this thread seem to enjoy having a laugh at Ferrari when they were told they hadnt won as to be honest virtually all the crowd believed they had won. Then again I guess thats jsut my point of view as im a Ferrari fan and will openly admit that I hate Maclaren with a passion. Dont believe Hamilton truely derserved it if im honest I know people will take issue with that but all season it just seems to be that the luck hasnt been on Massa's side with all the hiccups he's had like driving down the pitlane with the fuel hose still atached in a race he was clearly going to win and at silverstone when his car was uncontrollably bad in the rain. Still vettals drive was fantastic and I believe he definitly deserves a seat at a top team like ferrari and raikkonen needs to go as he hasnt really shown anything special this season. I know some people will take issue with my post here but such is life and I take issue with other peoples posts here so yeah. Still congrats to Hamilton as he did what he had to do and im not taking anything away from that fact.
 
Your both wrong. Slicks run hot. The wasn't enough water around for aquaplaning. The weather wasn't bad enough to hurt them that much. Grooved tyres are much worse in the rain because they can't keep any heat in themselves at all. Several drivers in the era of slicks have pointed that out.
 
Don't forget, however, that a slick has a bigger contact patch, so less work per square cm - and a result? Less heat. It's something Bridgestone themselves have admitted they're trying to avoid - a tyre too difficult to keep at the right temperature.
 
I'm going only on what drivers have said about slicks verses Grooves. They have always been of one voice. Slicks are much, much better in the rain than Grooves in any condition where they both still work.

The intermediate hardly even existed during the last Slick era. It was only when Grooved tyres were introduced that the Intermediate became such an important tyre.

HMMM yeh I thought it was going to be vettel.
 
Its a shame to see so many people angry at glock, he drove a stunning race and finished nicely in the points yet so many people have taken to accusing him of cheating the championship. Very dissapointing. No better than people booing the championship winner. I would also commend Vettel's driving very impressive indeed. Whilst I am not surprised by the latter I am surprised by the former.
 
Turned the TV on in the morning and saw the after race celebrations, which angered me. Watched the race and I'm still surprised by the results! From what I heard it sounded like Massa had won the championship.

This season has been great. Both Lewis Felipe and did a fantastic job all year, apart from a few hick-ups. In my opinion, they both were deserving of the championship, but this works out better for me because I am a McLaren fan, after all. :D

“I’m pretty gutted, it’s not how I wanted to end my career. I took a cautious approach into Turn One and left plenty of space for the car on the inside, but unfortunately I think Rosberg hit me though Turn Two, which spun me round. I thought it would be okay, but then Nakajima ran into the front of my car and took off the front corner. I felt good on the warm up laps going to the grid, I had no problem with it being wet and I wanted to get to the chequered flag. I was going to do some donuts for the crowd, which is something you normally get fined for, but it didn’t work out. I can’t complain though, I’ve had a good career, so thank you to everyone who has supported me. Thank you also to the efforts of every member of the Red Bull Racing team for the last four years, which have been a lot of fun, I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. I’ve been overwhelmed by the level of support I’ve had from the paddock this weekend, it means a great deal to me that so many people have taken the time to say ‘nice career and good luck with the future’. And, in the absence of a world championship, I think if I can leave with that, then that’s a good ending.”

Such a shame.
Unlike ITV being left behind, I'm sad to see Coulthard go, always a great character on the grid. Farewell.
