The IRL has a fan favorite (or something like that) every year. I wonder if Vettel would win that if F1 had something similar? He would certainly get my vote.

Yep, Massa purposely took him out to steal the title in Japan, yeah that was the one.
 
I've seen on TV yesterday they'll be using electronic LED displays togheter with the flags to warn the pilots, and if it goes well they should substitute the flags in the future.

About the title, I want Massa to win of course. But overall I think Hamilton had a better season, especially because of Ferrari's mistakes with both Felipe and Kimi, so I'm happy if he wins it too.

The FIA is now just doing this?? and no it shouldn't be a substitute to real flags
 
Apparently they didn't learn from when Ferrari tried to substitute a giant lollipop with some lights.
 
There are obviously going to be misunderstandings and malfunctions, with sector yellows and full course yellows, as well as if any car has electrics problems. Keep the flags 👍
 
Family members of the 2008 world champion will be invited to wave the chequered flag at the end of Sunday's championship showdown in Brazil.

Organisers of the race at Interlagos said that, depending on the outcome of the preceding 70 laps, either Felipe Massa's parents Luiz Antonio and Ana Elena, or Lewis Hamilton's father and brother Anthony and Nicholas, will be invited to officially mark the end of the race.

"We believe it would be a very special thing if the families can participate in such a way," race official Carlos Roberto Montagner said, according to Brazilian sports publication Gazeta Esportiva.

I think this is fantastic idea. It'd be just awesome to see a family member at the finish line showing their support. It would be a great experience for the ones waving the flag too.
 
Yeah, they'll probably be paying more attention to it than Pelé was in 2002. :lol:
 
what happens if hamilton is first, massa is second then hamiltons car breaks on the last lap? I'm sure massa would be confused not seing his parents at the finish line.
 
Hamilton is a second engine, Massa on a brand new one. Will mclaren's bulletproof reliability hold up? It didn't for heikki at Fuji....

Then maybe you can talk to the race organisers and ask for both families to be holding hands and waving the chequered flag together while releasing a flock of white doves from a cage. :p

No, I suspect we might see some blocking this time around, so it's going to be a race to see who can drive the slowest. Raikkonen and Alonso will do everything to aid Massa, while Kovalainen will be out there helping Hamilton.

I'm sure you would, but with the best will in the world even the most die-hard Massa fans must surely acknowledge that the rain is not his preferred racing environment.

Agreed, but He's done well in the wet before, he finished 2nd at Spa in those difficult conditions for a start. Silverstone was a very bad race for him.

The problem for Massa however is that 'doing well' is almost certainly not going to be good enough, he needs to be perfect and rain doesn't help at all in that regard. To be honest Spa is not the best example to use, as putting aside the LH/KR incident, Hamilton still beat Massa on the track. Repeat that 'doing well' on Sunday and he will not be champion.

Given that this is between two drivers, one of whom has been consistently better in the wet that the other, Massa would I'm certain far prefer it to be dry, if it does rain (and that seems to be the case) that's a factor that Hamilton will prefer.

Granted, but the main reason I posted was because, according to P3nT4gR4m, Hamilton has won the race. I see it as far from over.
