Granted, but the main reason I posted was because, according to P3nT4gR4m, Hamilton has won the race. I see it as far from over.

Don't take it to heart. Just a bit of friendly smack talk. In all seriousness, as a Hamilton fan, I'm stressing like hell about Sunday. If he can just get it in his head that 5th place will do then I'm sure it's in the bag but that's an almighty big 'if'

I'm sure I'll be screaming "nooo - don't do it!" at some point when he's lining up for a typical hero overtake, under braking.

Weekend weather update - showers possible for title bout

Welcome to the Brazilian Grand Prix, the 18th and concluding round of the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The weather for this crucial title-decider is going to be unsettled. There will be thunderstorms on Thursday with an ambient temperature high of 26 degrees Celsius. The forecast is for showers for the rest of the weekend, with the temperature ranging between 18 and 20 degrees.

The race starts at 1500 hours local time, which is two hours behind GMT, and runs over 71 laps of the 4.309 kilometre track (2.677 mile), or 305.909 kilometres (190.067 miles).

Showers possible does not equal rain all weekend. There's a just as good a chance the race will be dry.

I want Hamilton to win it, purely becuase he's British. He certainly doesn't deserve it as much as Massa. At Mclaren, the team has carried the driver; at Ferrari, the driver has carried the team. If Ferrari hadn't made mistakes, Massa would've been champion sometime around Singapore.

I think they've been pretty even. Massa showed some technical weakness with the cutting of TC but also suffered because poor reliability. Hamilton has made some mistakes, as have McLaren from a technical/strategical side. Massa needs to win a race from behind the front row of the grid, something which Lewis has done several times.
 
Interlagos is one of my personal favorite race tracks where you're not very far from the lovely city of Sao Paulo. About 3/5 of the course is a superspeedway while the remaining 2/5 is a decisive and technical course. What I consider the most fun about this course is the complex of turns 13 all the way to the finish line. You're kind of tempted to use very little braking between there and the finish line because it feels like an oval. Then between Turns 2 through 4, it's a bit more like an oval. One big factor plays into who wins this race (especially in Brazil)- the weather. If a downpour is expected, then the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Maasa will have to earn their pay in the shaky weather of Brazil.

Whomever wins this race will win in a country that's one of the world's best factories of racing talent. A home win for Felipe Maasa will be Heaven from the Hell Maasa experienced. I'm not going to make a prediction as to who wins the championship (a prediction I have is that neither Hamilton nor Maasa will win the race). All I can say is that I want Lewis Hamilton to win at least one championship. I've stuck with Hamilton for many races. I want this kid to become F1 World Champion at least once in his F1 career.

Hamilton is a second engine, Massa on a brand new one. Will mclaren's bulletproof reliability hold up? It didn't for heikki at Fuji....

It'll be his eighth race on a second engine and it hasn't broken down before.
 
I hope Hamilton wins this championship, if he doesn't we'll spend next year talking about Spa 2008.

Massa's car robbed him of 10 points (Hungary) and Massa's team robbed him another 10 points (Singapore), Hamilton, apart from the 4 points (wrongly, IMO) taken from him at Spa, I think can only blame himself and other drivers (Massa again, at Fuji) for not having more points now.

But I said it a while ago and say it again. They're evenly matched.
 
Calling it now, Massa in the lead by a mile, it starts raining, he spins it 14 times in 3 corners. Hamilton goes past for the win, but later disqualified for passing under full course yellows (that no one knew about because the fancy lights weren't working on that section of the track).
 
seeing as at this track massa is superb at and should have won last year by a nice gap if it where not for team orders (hush hush) id say the rain will not effect him as much on this race.but it will probably make the gap narower then massa would hope for with hamilton needing to be 6th or lower. but im still sticking with massa winning this race. we will get a good look at how this weekend will pan out tommorow i guess.

I've seen on TV yesterday they'll be using electronic LED displays togheter with the flags to warn the pilots, and if it goes well they should substitute the flags in the future.

There are obviously going to be misunderstandings and malfunctions, with sector yellows and full course yellows, as well as if any car has electrics problems. Keep the flags 👍

Wan't it Massa that had a beatiful fight with Kubica, under heavy rain last year? Ok, he made a mess of himself this year in Silverstone, but don't take it for granted Massa can't drive in the wet.

Oh, and btw, we can speculate another outcome (in accordance to what has happened this year), like this:

In the first lap, Hamilton either hits the back of another car and quits, or goes wide at turn one and rejoins the track last. A few laps before the race end, Massa leads but his car's engine explodes in clouds of smoke.


You can pick any of these two speculative scenarios. In either case, Hamilton is champion.

Incidentally, it's less than 45 minutes to first practice.
 
It's been 20 Minutes and the only driver to set a time is Heidfeld with 8:16.521!

EDIT: Hamilton 1st, Massa 2nd, separated by one tenth. Rain has started to fall, so I guess times will not improve from now on

2nd EDIT: Rain stopped, Raikkonen now 2nd. All three separated by less than a tenth!

3rd EDIT: Massa is now 1st

I don't know how you think Massa deserves the championship more then Lewis and how exactly has McLaren carried Lewis this year or last? If the FIA hadn't robbed points from Lewis and the team this would all be academic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's in the teams interest to do as much as they can to make sure their drivers do well.

Is Roo suggesting Mclaren should play fair and deliberately sabotage Lewis's car or something?

To be honest I always have assumed that the lead driver in any team would get preferential treatment wherever applicable but I'm guessing that would be spun on it's head if the no2 driver started doing a lot better than the no1. That's not conspiracy theory, it's simple logic. And I think that's what Fernando's bitching and whining was all about last season.

It's academic but I'm pretty sure that if Heiki had stood on the podium for the first 9 GP's this season that the team focus would have switched to him quick smart.

I was just gonna ask tha same question. Maybe its a tribute? DC is retiring so that would be the only thing I see, unless there is another reason I'm not aware of.
 
Ironic, then, that the logo on the side says "Racing's for life" and DC is giving it up after this one

DC went around to all of the teams to ask for permission to run the livery, so yes they are allowed to run two different liveries as long as they have permission of the other teams it seems.

But I always thought the FIA had the final desicions on whether a team could run two separate liveries or not...... :confused: But I guess this is a totally different situation than it was for BAR back in 99'.

Anyhow, Alonso manage to get on top during that last few minutes! :D Hamilton down in 9th after he locked up his wheel on his last run. Can't wait for the qualifying to start......... 👍
