Considering he only needs to finish fifth (if Massa wins) ... so far so good for Hamilton.

Besides, this 9th place in Free 2 means close to nothing. They're testing, not qualifying. We'll see tomorrow what happens, but so far nothing really important happened. Except, maybe ... that Renault shows again that they are the 3rd team now. Will they carry this trend to next season?

100% agree, tomorrow afternoon means a lot and Sunday means everything.

Fingers crossed we will not see a repeat of last years gearbox glitch, that would not make for a good race.

If it means the difference between massa winning the championship or hamilton winning it, i'd say yes.

I didn't watch the first session, and I forgot to see the time from that session..... :ouch: But yeah, free practice means nothing if you can't perform during qualifying or in the race..... 👍
 
Hallelujah... I won't be stuck at my wife's house that doesn't have the local channel covering this race... I'll be right at home, with my nice big TV and refrigerator full of goodies... too bad the race is 1 ayem our time, though... and I won't be able to spam the boards with a lap-by-lap commentary on the race... :lol:

It's not ironic at all. That's DC's new sponsor. Instead of money they just supply his wings for him. For life. Works out much cheaper for all involved.

On a similar note, I'm sure that the BAR liveries were objected to by the team's themselves, not the FIA.

You'll have to keep it for a good week after the race to be sure, but won't it go soggy in the fridge?
 
Alonso was quickest in final practice. Maybe he can win this race. That would be interesting.

I'm watching qualifying right now. Interlagos is an amazing track. Maybe the best race track in South America. I'm hearing that there will be rain on race day. If Hamilton and Maasa want the title, they'll have to deal with Mother Nature as well as the imposing Interlagos circuit itself.

People, I must apologize. I keep spelling "Massa" as "Maasa." My apologies.
 
Fantastic lap by Massa 👍 now we just need Lewis to make a mistake and Massa to survive the rain and come 2nd or 1st.
 
Trulli taking P2 was huge but McLaren can work with its track position
 
Massa's on pole. Hamilton was second... until he was bumped to the outside of the 2nd Row. That's okay. The mark of a champion is to adapt in adversity. If Hamilton wants the title, he'll have to drive his butt off. Then again, being Hamilton and racing against Massa in his home country is like being North Carolina playing basketball at Duke. Almost like an "Away Game" for Lewis Hamilton if he wants the win.

This should be good. Hamilton vs. Massa. One last time (this year).
 
Lewis' mistakes in both Q3 runs also hide a bit of his lightness. On his first run, his first sector was faster than Massa by almost a tenth, but mistakes in the first sector of the next run slowed him down massively (Massavely?). While Massa is indeed probably light (just six tenths down on his best light-lap!), I don't think Hamilton went for a heavy tanker either.

Also, I must congratulate Trulli. From sick to second!

I don't know how you think Massa deserves the championship more then Lewis and how exactly has McLaren carried Lewis this year or last? If the FIA hadn't robbed points from Lewis and the team this would all be academic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's in the teams interest to do as much as they can to make sure their drivers do well.

Is Roo suggesting Mclaren should play fair and deliberately sabotage Lewis's car or something?

What I mean is that when Massa has lost points, it's usually because of a mistake by Ferrari. When Hamilton has lost points, it's usually because of a mistake by Hamilton.

I hope I don't have to draw attention to the 'usually'.

Just a reminder to everyone in the US, the race tomorrow will be at the same time that qualifying did today due to the switch to Standard Time, so on the East Coast that'll be at noon.
 
Oh boy, is tomorrow going to be tense. Lewis is 4th, rain is expected and you just know that Alonso is on a Terminator-esque mission to put some blue paint onto silver paint.

Blue? Where's the blue paint come from? I didn't know Alonso was a decorator in his spare time :dopey:
Or has Ligier been resurrected for one race and hired Alonso? Awesome!
