Damn, I really need to change my Username...How do I go about doing that?

I currently drive an 08 Mazdaspeed3, fitting the profile of the hatchwagon you reference. Although, I like to call it a Turbowagon.

How do I go about requesting my Username be changed to Turbowagon?

Buy Premium and contact Jordan or some other mod. There is a thread in the Premium Forum about it.

Hey... If that's the interior, I think they're moving in the right direction even if people are "on the fence" over the mini-Malibu styling. That, and I hear they're changing the name to the Chevrolet Cruze as well. Odd...

Which reminds me, that doesn't look too bad.

Both of those pictures do not look too bad and looks like GM might be heading in a good direction with the vehicle.

Now that I think about it, it seems like there is a fairly consistent look showing up in newer car interiors. They all look like they've got the same "alien" head stack thing, with more buttons than you'd ever need. My guess is that some of the look has come from Honda (see the Civic, RDX, etc), but its being passed off on everything.

...Not that its horrible, its just odd, now that I realize it of course...

I'd rather GM go down that road then what they did in the past with ugly interior that looked cheap even before you put your hand on the material. I'm guessing the new Cobalt is still a see of cheap feeling plastic, but I at least it looks good and I don't have a preconceived notion about it before I touch it.

There is hope for GM and I think they are starting to move in the right direction towards a rebirth and making cars that people will start buying again.

Turbo charged 1.4 in the works!

Cruze news: Cobalt replacement to get turbo'd 1.4-liter and 40 mpg
Rising fuel prices, both in the U.S. and abroad, means that automakers can now offer similar engines in vehicles sold throughout the world. According to Automotive News, General Motors' next small car, the Chevrolet Cruze, will be offered with a new 1.4-liter force-fed four-banger, putting out between 120 and 140 horsepower and returning fuel mileage in the 40 mpg range.

The first version of the Cruze will be a sedan, but other body styles, including hatchbacks and wagons, are likely to come to market soon thereafter. The Cobalt-replacing Cruze will be built in Lordstown, Ohio, and sales will begin next Spring in Europe after the production version of the car is shown in Paris this October.

Not a huge amount of power, and you can't really get more than 200 safely from an engine of that size, anyway, but it's neat to know that GM's looking at the snail as much as Ford is.

Its the same amount of power already put out by the 2.2L option offered in the Cobalt (et al), so I'd say they're making a good decision. That being said, I'd also be willing to bet that the new engine would have a power curve that is less peaky, and in the end, be more fuel efficent at all speeds.

Offer the 1.4T and the 2.0T in the Cruze and I think they won't have too many problems at all.

I hope Australia gets this, we have a serious issue Down Under where people ignore GM and Ford because of false beliefs about economy and reliability, when you only need look at the facts to see we're often better and more practical. An engine like this would be hard to ignore for said idiots.

Can someone please tell me what an American 40mpg is in L/100km?

You should get it as a Holden.

40mpg is 5.88L/100km...whatever that means :dopey:.

Prius gets mid to high 40's-50ish.

It still costs twice as much so if you are looking just to save money at the pump a Prius is probably one of the worst things you can buy. If you are going green however, no one can dispute that. I've ran through the math on it several times.

That, my friends, is OOOOODLES more "edgy" than I had been anticipating!

For such a not-sucky-looking car, you'd think they could release some not-32 bit photographs.

I think those were probably snapped with a mobile phone at GM's press conference yesterday.

Yeah, like I said I definitley don't think that is official GM pics, even if they came from an official GM source, GM didn't release these themselves.

Perhaps the influx of radically designed cars lately is affecting me, but it looks pretty meh to me. Can't help but think "so what" to the styling.

For a Chevy its fairly "radical" in the United States, but quite certainly, it can't hold a candle to your average Peugeot or Citroen. And this is a "world car" after all...

Not edgy or proportionally radical, but I am really liking the step towards larger profile side windows, which affects the entire car. The tiny thin custom car-like slits that Detroit has been pushing lately are so incredibly daft, so it's nice to see a push towards thoughtful design. I think for that reason alone this is a step forward for GM.

Wow, that car looks great! To think a few years ago they were pushing out those incredibly bland looking J-bodies.....

I'd rock that with some pride!

(only in the looks, as it's bound to be gutless)

It sort of depends on the weight, if GM can keep it in check it won't be all that gutless. I hope they put a 6 speed auto in it for once.
